It all clicks at once. The secret smiles, Ryder distracting Jax with camping, Callen and Remy leaving for patrol without complaint. This isn’t random. They cleared the way.
I suck in a sharp breath, and Parker’s eyes darken at the sound, his eyes landing on my mouth again. My heart slams against my ribs, every nerve in my body alive with sudden awareness. They’ve given us space, given him the chance he’s been waiting for.
My throat goes dry. He’s finally going to complete the bond.
The thought sends a tremor through me so strong I have to curl my hands into fists to hide it. My whole body feels like it’s vibrating with a dizzying mix of anticipation and raw desire.
Parker doesn’t move fast. He never does. He steps closer with deliberate patience, like he wants me to feel every second of this heat between us. His hand slides from my hip to the small of my back, pulling me gently against him until the heat of his body seeps into mine.
“Paige,” he breathes. “Do you know how long I’ve waited for this?”
I swallow hard, unable to answer. The need to complete the bond tugs at me. The longer I look at him, the stronger it pulls, until it feels like I might come apart if he doesn’t touch me properly, if he doesn’t claim me.
My knees feel weak, but I don’t back away. I don’t want to. I tilt my chin up, meeting his eyes. “I think I do,” I whisper, my voice trembling with more than nerves.
His answering smile is the kind that melts every wall I’ve ever built. “Then if you’ll let me,” he says, brushing his thumb across my cheek. “Tonight, I’ll make you mine.”
The words send a shockwave of need through me, heat flooding every inch of my skin. I shiver, but it isn’t from the cold.
This is it. Tonight, Parker will finally claim me completely. Tonight, the bond will be sealed, and I’ll be tied to all four of my mates, and I’ve never wanted anything more.
Parker doesn’t kiss me, not yet. Instead, he takes my hand, his fingers warm against mine, and leads me down the short hall. My breath catches when he opens the bathroom door.
The space glows with soft candlelight, shadows flickering against the walls. The tub is filled almost to the brim with rose petals floating on the water’s surface. The sweet scent wraps around me, and for a moment I can only stand there, stunned.
“You did this?” I whisper, my voice barely audible, but he hears me, like he always does.
He gives me a faint smile, but his eyes stay locked on mine. “You deserve more than I can give you right now, but tonight… I want you to have this.”
My chest aches with the sheer intensity of him. I don’t care where we are, or how this happens, just as long as it does.
Parker steps closer, brushing a strand of hair from my face before his fingers trail down, skimming over my throat and stopping next to Remy’s mating mark. “Let me take care of you, Paige.”
My answer is a nod, shaky but sure.
** Paige’s POV **
Parker helps me undress slowly, like each button popped, and zipper undone is an act that should be treasured. When I step into the bath, I’m still trembling from the almost overwhelming anticipation thrumming through me. The hot water laps against my skin, and I sink into it with a sigh, petals clinging to my shoulders, my chest.
Parker sinks in behind me. He doesn’t rush. He dips a cloth into the water, wrings it out, then runs it across my skin with a tenderness that makes my heart ache. Over my shoulders, down my arms, across my collarbone. His fingers shake slightly as he works, betraying the control he’s fighting to hold on to.
“Parker…” My voice cracks, but I reach for his hand, tangling our fingers together. “You don’t have to be so careful.”
“I want to be. I’ve wanted this for so long, and I don’t ever want you to doubt how much you mean to me.”
The sincerity in his tone steals my breath. I turn slightly and reach up, cupping his cheek with wet fingers. “I don’t doubt it. Not anymore.”
His eyes close for a moment, like my words physically hit him. When he opens them again, the restraint in his gaze has shifted. His eyes are still gentle, but darker now, his need simmering beneath the surface.
He takes his time to wash my hair, massaging my scalp until I’m completely relaxed. Then he helps me out of the bath, wrapping me in a plush towel before lifting me easily into his arms. My pulse races as he carries me into the bedroom.
The sight that greets us steals what little breath I have left.
More candles flicker along the dresser, the windowsill, the nightstands, casting the room in golden light. Rose petals are scattered across the bed, a soft trail leading to the centre. The air smells faintly of smoke and roses.
He sets me down on the edge of the mattress, his hands gripping my waist as if he can’t bear to let go. My towel slips, baring my breasts, and his gaze drops, hunger flashing in his eyes again.
“Paige,” he whispers, his voice rough with need now. “I want to make you mine. Fully, completely, but if you’re not ready…”
“I am,” I cut in. “I’m more than ready.”
My whole body vibrates, desire sparking through every nerve ending. The need to bond hums through me. It’s urgent and insistent, pulling us together with a force neither of us can resist anymore.
I reach for him, tugging him closer until our foreheads touch. “I’ve been yours from that first night I spent here,” I breathe. “Tonight just makes it official.”
The second my words leave my lips, Parker’s control breaks. His mouth finds mine, hot and demanding, all his careful restraint finally snapping in an instant. His kiss steals my breath, his tongue sweeping against mine, and I gasp into him, clutching his shoulders until I’m pulling him down onto the bed with me.
The towel slips away entirely, leaving me bare beneath him, but the way he looks at me isn’t hunger alone; it’s adoration and love. His eyes are molten with need, but there’s awe too, like he can’t quite believe this is real.
He breaks the kiss only to trail his lips down my jaw, across the frantic beat of my pulse, lower still. Each brush of his mouth sears me, leaves me trembling, until I arch beneath him, desperate for more.
“Parker,” I breathe, my voice shaking.
He shudders, his forehead pressing against my collarbone as though trying to steady himself. “You don’t know how many nights I’ve imagined this. How many times I’ve had to stop myself from taking what my wolf has been begging for.” His lips brush my skin. “But tonight, I don’t have to stop.”
The mate bond thrums wildly between us, pulling tighter with every touch, every kiss. I know that if I had a wolf, it would be howling inside me, clawing to close the distance fully, to let him in, to seal what we’ve both been denying.
When he pulls back to let me scoot further onto the bed, I stop to admire him for a moment. He’s beautiful, so strong and broad, every line of him carved like someone sculpted him to exactly what I like. The mattress dips as he kneels on it between my legs. His hands tremble as they skim down my sides, leaving goosebumps in their wake.
“You’re shaking,” I whisper.
His smile is crooked, almost boyish. “I’ve never wanted anything this much… it’s a lot.”
Then there’s no space left between us. His body covers mine, hot and heavy, his mouth on my throat as his hand slips lower, teasing, coaxing me open for him. The pleasure builds fast under his expert fingers, leaving me writhing beneath him. I clutch at his shoulders as the first wave crashes over me. He doesn’t stop. He waits, patient but relentless, until I’m gasping his name and pulling him closer, silently begging for the final step.
When he finally pushes into me, I cry out without fear of being overheard. Parker groans into my mouth as he thrusts deep, his hand lacing with mine above my head. Every movement feels like a vow, each kiss a promise that he’ll always be there.
Parker slows his pace, his eyes locking with mine. I search his eyes and see everything there. Not just his love and desire for me, but everything, I see our future there, together for the rest of our lives. His gaze flicks to my neck for a split second, and I can see the battle he’s having to hold off, to wait until he thinks he’s satisfied me enough.
I tilt my head back and to the side a little, baring my neck to him. Inviting his bite.
