Chapter 72 – Falling for the Last Lycan Novel

Caiden was a great warrior, but he had watched how Zuri fought before and knew he it would be a hell of a fight to bring her down.

With that, he mindlinked the warriors to get Khaos here immediately, he hoped the alpha would get here in time before he and his father were mauled by his woman…

Currently, Khaos was in the middle of discussion about the curses that would be put on Zuri. He needed to know all the one hundred curses that should be inflicted on her. Elijah, as the head of the magic user, explained everything in detail, while Bryden listened carefully and Rhett would chime in here and there.

That was when someone told the alpha about what happened, since Khaos was too far for Caiden to mindlink him directly.

“What happened?” Bryden asked. “Don’t you know that we are in the middle of important discussion here?” Bryden looked at the warrior with a stern look. “Go back and check on Caiden yourself.”

“But, the gamma didn’t allow us to come to the wood. He only asked for the alpha to come immediately.”

“How rude your gamma is, alpha Khaos,” Rhett commented, he was not happy with the disrespect that Caiden displayed.

However, Khaos already walked away before they could finish with their complain and suggested to continue with the discussion about the curses they were going to put on Zuri tonight.

Seeing this, they didn’t have another choice, but to follow the alpha.

What surprised them even more was the fact that the alpha chose to shift into his beast. His lycan was so white and right now the snow covered almost everything, thus it was easier for him to blend with the background, but still, it was very dangerous if someone, who was not aware of the lycan existence to saw him.

[Khaos, what do you think you are doing?! Someone may see you in your beast form!] Bryden mindlinked Khaos, but the alpha closed his mind and moved even faster, leaving those followed him behind.

Bryden was stunned to see this. Khaos had never been so reckless like this and he wondered if Caiden was in a great trouble for Khaos to act out of impulse.

While Bryden and Rhett shifted into their beasts to follow Khaos, Elijah took a horse to catch up with them.

The white lycan beast moved so fast, you wouldn’t be able to notice him if you didn’t see him closely with how the world had turned white as well.

And once Khaos smelled blood in the air, he moved even faster. He knew something was completely wrong if Caiden was so desperate to get him, but he didn’t want anyone else to be there. It could only mean one thing…

And there, he watched how Zuri’s black beast clawed Caiden’s brown one across his muzzle and then clamped sunk her teeth to his shoulder, ripped a good chunk of the other beast’s flesh.

The sight was very raw and disturbing, especially when Khaos saw Ezra was laying on the ground, pooled on his own blood with a big wound on his throat that kept oozing out blood. He didn’t move and Khaos didn’t have time to check on him, whether he was still alive or not, because right now his main focus was to stop Zuri from killing his gamma.

The white lycan and the black beast tangled in a fight for a while before Khaos managed to pin her down and render her unable to move, only then Zuri realized who it was and she willingly submitted to him.

The white lycan let out a deep growl and the black beast shifted back into her human form.

There were a few scratches here and there on her face that started to heal, blood stain on her forehead, but overall she was fine.

Zuri glared at Khaos, but her gaze softened and she started to whimper. From Khaos’s position, he would be able to kill Zuri as easily as he snapped his finger. She had gone feral and this time, it caused so much damage.

“Alpha! Stop! Don’t do that!” Rhett shouted at the side when he thought Khaos was going to harm Zuri. All of their effort in the past decade would go to the drain if he killed her.

Little did he know, there was not even a flicker idea that crossed Khaos’s mind to kill Zuri, even after he witnessed what she had done to his gamma.

“Caiden, calm down!” Bryden tried to stop Caiden from coming to Zuri. He had shifted into his human form too, but he was barely able to stand up because of the injuries that he sustained. “We need to check your father!”

Only after hearing that, Caiden remembered his father and immediately struggled to get to him.

“He is alive,” Bryden sighed deeply. “He is still alive.”

“Take Caiden and Ezra to see Glenda,” Khaos said after he shifted back into his human form. He was still pinning Zuri down on the cold, snow covered ground.

Slowly, Khaos got off from Zuri, while she was still laying there, panting heavily. The memories of what happened came rushing back to her mind and finally it wrecked her of what she almost did.

“Alpha,” Elijah called Khaos. He approached the alpha carefully, because he could feen the strong tension in the air. “I will take care of her.”

“No,” Khaos said rather harshly. He then bent down his body and carried Zuri in his arms. “I will take care of her.”

Zuri was trembling, her whole body was shaking.

Zuri was a project to accomplish beauty blood. She was a Shell. She was one of the three lycan’s legacies. An object for the lycan to get their ultimate treasure. The power to control the world.

However, beauty blood was a complicated thing to accomplish, not like the other two legacies, which were inanimate objects. Beauty blood involved feeling and attachment. It required years of nurturing.

More importantly, there was no history of accomplishment related to beauty blood aside from the first lycan, who actually managed to complete it.

The previous lycans, who tried to accomplish it, would always be ‘almost’, so close to get it done before fail after fail came their way.

And the crucial part here was the attachment.

The attachment between the Shell to the lycan.

The Shell would feel this strong connection to the lycan and that was what happened to Zuri. She blindly and willingly be used by Khaos even before she learned anything about the beauty blood and the fact, he was the lycan.

It was this strong connection that she felt for him since the beginning, because she was the Shell.

The same thing happened to Khaos.

In the past, the lycan would have their mate to counter the strong attachment between the Shell and the lycan. The mate bond was a powerful bond that would keep the lycan straight from being strayed by this confusing, strong connection.

However, Khaos was the last lycan. He wouldn’t find his destined mate and this feeling, this strong attachment and connection between him and Zuri was the closest thing for him to a mate bond.

That was why, despite the affection that Khaos showed to Zuri, he still kept her at arm length and also despite how Khaos didn’t really try to win her over, Zuri was ready to throw herself to him.

Twin flames.

The lycan and the Shell were burned in the same flames.

That was what the scriptures said.

And Khaos was still trying to figure out how to interpret that sentence.

“What should I do to you?” Khaos asked to no one in particular. His voice was exceptionally soft. He looked disturbed.

Right now, Zuri was sleeping. Elijah put her to sleep, because they were not sure when she would get an outburst again and the fact she couldn’t control herself and harm two people, deemed her to be not safe to be around.

Zuri had reached the stage where she lost her mind and could harm herself and the people around her. Based on that, they needed to put a restrain on her.

That was what Elijah told Khaos.
