Chapter 84 – Falling for the Last Lycan Novel

“How?!” Dacre snapped at Rose, which he immediately regretted it, but he didn’t say anything.

Rose had been thinking of a way out of this situation and somehow, she was impressed by alpha Khaos, how he turned the table around and made Dacre unable to retort, neither the king could get away from the trap that was so obvious.

Dacre set himself to fail once he agreed that he would take the responsibility to find another source of the food supply, since he was the king and Khaos made sure to emphasize that.

If they could find a way out from this, people would remember Dacre as the king, who saved their winter crisis, but if he failed, he would be a failure in their eyes.

“The ships.” Rose took Dacre’s hand and wiped the blood from his palm gently. “We know the location of the ships and we can do something about it.”

“What do you mean with something?” Dacre pulled his hand away from Rose, he stood up and walked away to take a towel, wiped his own blood.

“Stealing the food supply will be a best idea for now and we can store it somewhere, distributing it again after a few days and it will be ‘your distribution’ this time.”

It was a very simple idea. Dacre knew that Khaos would have thought about that and take the necessary precaution to protect the ships.

“No.” Dacre shook his head. “I have better idea in this matter.” A flicker of malicious intention in his eyes when he stared at the ground that covered with snow out there from the window in his bedroom. “You can leave for now and keep your eyes on the people.”

Rose wanted to say something, but in the end, she decided it was not the right time to voice out her opinion. She had learned when the right time to speak and read the room. She needed to remind calm in this situation, because at this point, she was not only trying to outsmart alpha Khaos, but she needed to get full control over king Dacre as well.

“Yes, my king.” And with that, Rose left the room.

“I know they will aim for the ships.” Khaos kissed her lips when Zuri warned him that the king might attack the ships. “I have a surprise that will wait for them there.”

Currently, Khaos and Zuri were in bed. It was already late at night, but they had not yet fallen asleep, as they talked about a few things and the more they talked, the more they were awake, as if they could talk about a lot of things without running out of topic, even though it was some random shit that didn’t make sense at all.

“What is it?” Zuri asked, her eyes lit up. She liked it, scheming together with Khaos was so much fun.

Khaos opened his mouth, but he changed his mind and decided to tease Zuri a little bit. “You tell me.”

“I don’t know.”

“Guess.”

Zuri pursed her lips, but she fell into a deep thought, thinking of the answer. She propped herself on top of Khaos’s chest, while the alpha played with her long, black hair that cascaded down on his chest, twirled it between his fingers, waiting for her answer.

“Will you attack them? If they tried to do something with the supply in the ships?”

“More or less,” Khaos replied absentmindedly. “I am going to kill them.”

Zuri raised her brows when she heard that. “And you are going to disclose the fact that the king tried to steal the food supply from you?” Zuri chuckled. “You are so wicked.”

Her soft laughter echoed inside the room and Khaos found himself liking the sound of it. “That’s, if the plan went smoothly. In case like this, you need to expect the unexpected.”

“Right.” Zuri was new to this kind of scheme and she had a lot more to learn, but she was willing to do that.

With Khaos, she felt like she had found her own person and it meant a lot to someone like her, who thought she was alone in this world. When people betrayed her and they used to have hidden agenda with her, at the very least, with Khaos, she knew his true intention.

“What do you think about the princess?”

Zuri shrugged her shoulders. “I think I can handle it,” she said nonchalantly. “But, I don’t like the way she stole a glance at you. She thought, she was being subtle about it, but every time she did that, I felt this urge to gauge her eyes out of their sockets.”

However, once the words came out of her mouth, she became self conscious, as she shut up immediately and stared at Khaos, trying to gauge his reaction, but the alpha didn’t seem to care.

“If you wanted to do it, be more secretive about it.”

That was the only advise that Khaos gave to her and after that, he hugged her, patting her back and told her to sleep.

The voices in Zuri’s mind were relatively quiet whenever she was with him. She liked moment like this.

Twelve more curses to go for them to complete the beauty blood and from the look of it, they could force it, if only Khaos agreed.

It came as a surprise for them too that Zuri’s endurance was quite high. She was strong enough to be inflicted with multiple curses in such short period of time.

Probably it had something to do with the fact that she was with Khaos right now. The connection and attachment between them were strong, because Khaos didn’t bond with any other woman. He didn’t have a destined mate to share the attachment and affection.

“Yes, but the attachment between them can be a trouble. As we can see right now. The alpha is very reluctant to give her up and push forward with the next ritual even though, as we can see, the Shell is ready.”

Elijah was talking to someone in the darkness. He was in the hidden chapel, sitting in one of the pews, while someone was sitting right behind him.

It was hard to tell, who was this man, because he was wearing this black cloak that covered his face and almost his whole body, aside from his hands. If you looked at him closely, you would be able to see the tattoo on his thumb. It was a simple tattoo. A small crescent moon in his inner right thumb, as if it was a birthmark instead of a tattoo.

“The alpha is only confused with his own feeling, because he has never experienced a mate bond before, so this attachment is very profound for him.” His voice was calm and reassuring. Even when you couldn’t see his face, you would still be able to feel his strong presence that demanded your undivided respect. “Let him be for the meantime. He is trying to get his hand on the golden stamp. Once he got it, we will make a move on the Shell.”

Elijah thought about it for a while and then nodded. It made senses. There was no point to distract the alpha’s concentration on getting the Verity Stamp.

“You are right. The Shell can wait. She is rather sober and coherent enough for a Shell, who has been inflicted by eighty eight curses. The Shell can wait.”

Both of them didn’t even call Zuri by her name, because for Elijah and this mysterious man, Zuri was nothing, but a subject for them to achieve their goal.

They rallied behind the last lycan, moving in secret to omit their wrongdoings, but in their twisted mind, this was for the lycan’s benefit. This was the effort to show the alpha how serious they were to revive the old dynasty and avenge their family that died during the massacre three decades ago.

“Assist him and do not make any move against the Shell just yet. The alpha will be defensive.”

And after saying that last words, that mysterious man stood up and walked out of the room.

Elijah stayed there for a while and prayed for the death of his magic users. Despite their devotion, alpha Khaos still didn’t believe them and this disappointed him greatly.

However, he still had a faith on the alpha.

On the other hand, the next day after the arrival of the king, they had breakfast together in the dining hall, where the king and the alpha sat next to each other with Zuri and princess Rose beside them.

“We should hold your union right away, both of you seemingly get along really well.”

“There is no rush,” Khaos said casually. He glanced at Zuri, who was stabbing her meat. Annoyed because Khaos kept putting the food into her plate.

“Luna Zuri, I think it’s alright to be more active. You have been with alpha Khaos for a long time, people will talk if you two still don’t have a union,” Princess Rose chimed in. She smiled kindly, as if she was the queen, someone with higher status than Zuri, giving an advice to her subject.

This morning, Zuri was exceptionally snappy. The voices in her head kept talking rubbish about killing the king or Rose. She had been trying to avoid a conversation with her, but here she was, being so sweet with her advice.
