Life’s Spiced Up with Some Werewolf Reads

Chapter 94 – Falling for the Last Lycan Novel

Princess Rose played savior with the people in the River Creek pack, she helped the distribution of the supplies and this made Gayle cringed.

“Damn, Zuri should have been more active like this…” Gayle murmured to himself, feeling annoyed because Rose acted as if the supplies came from her, or at least, from the royal. She took advantage of the absent of Khaos and Rhett. “Such a wicked woman,” the gamma scowled.

Khaos’s warriors were still confused about the real reason why Gayle became the gamma and why Caiden suddenly demoted, but they didn’t dare to ask further. They only assumed, Caiden had done something really bad that incurred the alpha’s wrath.

Gayle and the rest of the warriors caught a sight of the king from the distance, he walked straight to them and the gamma hoped he would just walk away, but instead, he stopped in front of him and asked about Khaos’s whereabouts.

“The alpha is looking for a way to get more supplies until we can get delivery from another continent.” It was a lie, but there was no way Gayle would tell the truth.

“Looking for more supplies…” Dacre repeated the word, but there was a hidden meaning behind it, which gave an idea to the people that Khaos was looking for Zuri instead.

The alpha’s family had been a sensitive topic for them and Dacre made sure to establish the image that they were a family of a traitor.

Meanwhile, Zuri was in a great pain. The ritual had not yet started, but she felt the backlash of the other curses that had been inflicted on her.

Her body was so hot, she felt like her skin melted. It was so painful, her blood was boiling and every time she was breathing, she felt like she sucked on ashes. Her lungs were burning.

She screamed until she couldn’t recognize her voice anymore.

“Should we continue?” Elijah asked the mysterious man that he met frequently inside the chapel.

He was wearing the hoodie of his cloak over his head, hiding his face, but all the magic users there lowered their head, they showed their utmost respect on him, more than they showed it to the alpha.

In front of them, thrashing her body on the slab was Zuri, she was screaming, cursing, kicking and doing anything that she could to free herself from the chain that restrained her.

Blood oozed out from her the wound on her wrist and ankles, also around her torso and chest.

“Do you think she can survive this?” The man was a shifter, Elijah would have a better grip on this current situation with Zuri, since he would be the one, who performed the curse.

“She will.” The answer was very curt.

Elijah was sitting on a wheelchair, because Glenda couldn’t save his legs. The alpha crippled him because he wanted to fasten the progress of the beauty blood.

Even after all he had done and how many magic users that had died during the battle with the royal warriors and also when Zuri lost her control and killed almost all the magic users that helped with the ritual, Elijah still could feel Khaos’s distrust.

Rhett was too blind with his faith on the lycan, but Elijah could feel it.

“She will live until the beauty blood is completed. We can draw her blood. But, I am not sure with her survival after that. She could die.”

“But, the beauty blood will be completed before she died, right?”

“Or maybe she will not die.” Elijah tilted his head, he watched the strength that Zuri exerted, despite her skin and bones body, she looked like a corpse right now. “She may strong enough to survive, but I am not sure with her soul. She may lose herself.”

“But, we can get the beauty blood.” He emphasized this, because this was all that matter for him.

“Yes.” Elijah was sure about that. Rhett was right about Zuri, she was the perfect Shell for beauty blood. “Yes, the beauty blood will be completed.”

“I trust your judgment,” the man said, he then took a step back, letting the other magic users to fall into their position. “You can do it now.”

That was the clue for Elijah to do his work. He was going to complete the beauty blood tonight and the lycan would thank him once his mind was cleared from his attachment toward this woman.

Because Khaos only destroyed his legs, he still could use his hands to perform his magic and even though the number of the magic users, who were willing to go against the alpha was not many, which meant it would prolong the ritual, it didn’t matter, they were determined to complete the beauty blood.

Before, it required fifteen magic users, but right now, there were only seven of them, including Elijah, which later would put Zuri in a very long agony before they were done with her.

“Begin,” Elijah said and in his command, all of the magic users that gathered around the slab raised their hands and started chanting an ancient language, inflicting the curse on Zuri.

She cried even harder and screamed even louder, as she cussed them out, she swore that she would kill them one by one, skinned them alive and drank their blood if she got her hands on them.

Zuri was in and out of her consciousness, every time she woke up, pain was the first thing that greeted her. Pain, a lot of pain. Her father’s needles seemed like a pat on the head in comparison.

Night and day were no longer important for her when all she knew was agony that ran through her being. How long she had been in this hell? Why she didn’t die yet?

This place was akin to a cave, there was no sunlight or moonlight that could go through and the coldness in the air didn’t soothe her aching open wound.

At this point, Zuri welcomed everything, even the death. The voices in her head didn’t bother her, because she was too busy with her pain. Even her hallucination didn’t come forward to accompany her during this hellish moment.

Very nice of them, right?

There was nothing important right now, really, there was nothing more important. Zuri only wanted this pain to end. She didn’t want to live anymore.

All this life gave to her was grief, misery and torment. And more torment.

The anger was no longer enough to make Zuri wanted to kill these people, who had hurt her, it was not worth it. They were not worth it, not even her anger.

A moment ago, Zuri felt this coldness, as if her body was being drowned under a frozen lake, but right now, the fire licked her, it started with the tip of her fingers and spread so fast to all over her body.

Her throat must have been ripped because of how much she screamed and when the darkness came over, she hanged onto it dearly, this was her only escape from the suffering. Yet, it didn’t last for long, because suddenly commotion erupted and for the first time, someone touched her.

Was it over?

That was the first question that came to her mind, followed by a realization that she was still alive, which was very disappointing, she was ready to end it.

These stupid people couldn’t even kill her.

However, this time her mind was lucid enough and Zuri forced herself to open her eyes. The smell of blood hit her senses. The smell of her own blood. Great. They were going to bleed her to death.

At first, Zuri didn’t realize her surroundings. How could she when she had been in and out from one hell to another, but gradually, aside from her own blood, she smelled something. A familiar scent. His scent…

With so much difficulty, as if her eyelids were glued together, Zuri finally opened her eyes and his figure was right in front of her. He looked worried. His jaw clenched tightly, as he tried to undo the silver chains that bind her to the slab.

More blood oozed out from the opened wound, but she couldn’t feel the pain anymore.

His lips moved, as if he was saying something, but the ringing in her ears prevented her to understand what he was talking about. He furrowed his perfect brows and his grey eyes were slightly darker. He talked with the urgency.

Yet, all Zuri could feel was this funny feeling that bubbling in her chest. She was heaving and her body was trembling. She thought, she was shaking because of fear or agony, but second later she realized that she was laughing.

Zuri was laughing maniacally when she saw Khaos. Everything jumbled up in her head, it didn’t make sense and she couldn’t stop herself. She kept laughing, even though she was having a hard time to breath.

The silver chain burned the lycan’s hand, still he didn’t show any pain, as he tore it away from Zuri’s body, threw them across the cave with so much rage before he cradled her in his arms. Zuri was still laughing crazily.
