“Zuri.”
Zuri heard when Khaos called her name, but she couldn’t register her current condition. She raised her hand and caressed his cheek, smearing blood on his face.
“You are not real,” Zuri was slurring. She was not sure if Khaos could understand her incoherent words. “Go and die, Khaos. Go and die with all of the people that support you.”
“We will get you out of here,” Khaos ignored what she said, probably he didn’t hear it, since she didn’t speak clearly, but his grip on her tightened.
“Go fucking die…”
Khaos then lifted Zuri in his arms, but she started thrashing her body. Causing her to fall on the ground, because she managed to free herself from Khaos’s grip.
Zuri stopped laughing and started screaming again, hitting her head against the slab. More blood.
Seeing this, Khaos immediately shielded her head from the stone with his own hand, but Zuri hit her head with her own fists.
“STOP! STOP TALKING! STOP!”
The voices returned, but this time, they were more vicious than before. They told her about everything that she didn’t want to hear. They chanted how useless she was and recalled all the nasty thing that she had ever heard in her entire life, even to the one that she was no longer remembered anymore.
It almost felt like a lifetime abusing words were thrown to her face at once. She didn’t know what to hear, Khaos’s voice was drowned by the voices in her head.
“ARGHGH!!! STOP! STOP! STOP!”
Khaos tried to hold her hands from scratching her ears until they were bleeding, but Zuri tried to hit her head against his or anything solid that could draw pain on her.
“Enough, Zuri. It’s me. I am here…” Khaos pressed her head against his chest, at this point, not even the sound of his heartbeat could calm her down. “It’s okay, you are alright now.”
“MAKE THEM STOP!”
Khaos knew what was happening to her at this moment and his body moved before his mind could rethink his decision, as he sunk his teeth on the crook of her neck, embedded deeply in her flesh.
The lycan marked her as his.
They took her to the Three Deadly Way, the place near the Great Palace, where the last remaining of the lycan dynasty was.
It took Khaos a week to get there from River Creek pack and it irritated him that he had to alternate between shifting into his lycan form or riding a horse when the area was often crossed by people.
The alpha didn’t take a lot of people with him, so they could move faster. Bryden, Dezgar, Rhett and two more warriors.
“Khaos, you are being reckless,” Bryden said, he approached the alpha on their fourth day of their journey to the Three Deadly Way. “You need to stop being irrational. I think, it’s best if we let them finish it. If it’s up to you, we will not get the beauty blood at all.”
They managed to find Zuri’s whereabouts because Rhett finally opened his mouth. He was not informed about this, but he knew if this would be the completion of the curse for the beauty blood, they would likely perform it in the Great Palace, which was the root of the lycan.
“Khaos, your attachment toward her, clouding your judgment.” Bryden shook his head. “Calm down for a while and think again, you will be able to see how reckless you are acting right now.
His beta might be right about it, but Khaos couldn’t care less about that detail. Instead, Khaos shifted into his beast, as they ventured through the forest and the rest of them didn’t have other choice, but to follow him.
Once they were in the Great Palace, Khaos immediately managed to pick Zuri’s scent and found where they held her.
There was this place in the east woods, close to mountain, where there was a cave at the mountain feet, where in the past, the warrior used to use it as a shelter. The cave was not too deep, but it was like a labyrinth.
When they arrived there, the ritual was still on going. You could imagine the pain that Zuri had to go through for days, because they couldn’t finish the curse quickly, since there was not enough magic user to get it done within a few hours like they used to do.
It almost like you were being cut bit by bit to let you bleed until you died.
Zuri was bleeding from the cuts and burns on her skin, where the silver chain restrained her. Before, Khaos disagreed with the use of silver because it would harm her, but right now, they used it on her without any scrupulous.
The first thing that Khaos did was to kill Elijah.
None of them expected this.
They thought, the alpha would only punish the leader of the magic user, not to kill him. But, his wrath had reached the sky.
Khaos was in his white beast, thus when his claws pierced through Elijah’s chest, while he was sitting on his wheelchair, the blood gushed out of the wound, streaming down to the floor. He coughed so hard, his blue eyes bulged with pressure and horror, especially when he realized that it was the lycan.
Elijah opened his mouth, but before there was a word that he could say, blood gurgled in his throat, swallowed back whatever word he wanted to say and everything was too late for him when life dissipated right before his eyes.
He laid down there, died.
Seeing this, the rest of the magic users immediately backed away, they saw Rhett and Dezgar, like the coward they were, they rushed to them to seek for safety.
Fortunately for them, the lycan didn’t have any interest on them when they saw Zuri was still laying there on the slab. He shifted into his human form and with his barehand, he snapped the silver chain. The material burned his skin, yet he didn’t even flinch.
Zuri’s body was fidgeting and when she opened her eyes, the first thing that she said, felt like a knife that twisted in his heart.
“You are not real. Go and die, Khaos. Go and die with all of the people that support you. Go fucking die…”
She was slurring, but he could understand her words perfectly. Her mind was lucid enough until her reality shattered again, as her hallucination came in full force, the voices in her head must be acting up again when she screamed for them to stop.
“No. Listen to me!” Khaos caught Zuri in time before she hit her head against the slab for the second time, she was covered in blood. Her own blood. The smell was nauseating. “Zuri!”
She didn’t listen to him. She couldn’t listen to him. His presence was no longer a comfort for him. Khaos was hugging her tightly to prevent her from hurting herself, while the other people watched everything unfolded, they didn’t know what to do.
Elijah was dead. His blood pooled on the ground, his blue eyes were opened lifelessly, while the rest didn’t even dare to make a peep, the tension was very suffocating, they held their breath even without them knowing it.
“Zuri. Zuri.” Khaos kept calling her name, in hope he could get through her. His grip on her was firm, not tight enough to harm her further.
He noticed it now, her healing ability was very slow… or you could say that she didn’t have any healing ability at all. Even her small wound had not yet healed, in this rate, she was going to die by losing so much blood.
“Zuri, can you listen to my voice?” Khaos kissed her hair. He cradled her in his arms, rocking her back and forth to soothe her aggravation. It didn’t work.
Khaos needed her to hear his voice and there was only one way to do it…
His body moved before his mind could make a better judgment and he marked her, creating the bond between them, sealed their fate together.
Formed a mindlink, where he could reach her…
Rose was the epitome of a pretentious person. She spent the rest of her time, with the people, talked to them and gave them small gifts. Whether it was from her jewelry collection or simply a flower that she picked.
She would stay with children to tell them exciting story, where the children’s parents would come and sit around only to listen to her story.
