Zuri was not sure how they could reach this point, but their relationship took a different turn. It almost felt like hate and love relationship. Sometime, she hated Khaos for making her life difficult, but she couldn’t use that hate to do anything harmful toward him.
“Because of the mate bond. You are my mate, normally, you will not do any harm on me.”
Once again, Khaos answered what was in her mind, it seemed he took the pleasure of irritating Zuri.
“Normally? I know a few people, who didn’t think that way?” Xaden and her father as an example.
“Then you know they are not normal. They are crazy, don’t you agree with me?” Khaos winked at her playfully. He looked more relax than usual and this made Zuri smiled.
She liked her banter with him, it had been so long since she had full control over her own mind. It had been so long, since she didn’t feel the pain, hear the voices or see dead people. It was nice. She felt normal.
It might safe to say, for her, the mate bond between them, the mate bond that was formed by the lycan, had fixed her ‘craziness’. She liked that theory.
“How did you get so many food supplies? I remembered the food supplies would have run out by now.”
“Changing the topic?” Khaos finally put on clothes and Zuri finally met his eyes.
“Just answer me.” Zuri was sitting on the edge of the bed. Her neck was still hurt and the mark was still so red, but she secretly impatient to see his mark on her.
“I bought ten ships and I only showed five of them.”
Zuri was quick to catch what he meant. “No way… you have all those food supplies all this time?”
Khaos laid on the bed and pulled her down with him. He caressed her neck and stared at his mark. “Yes.”
“You are so wicked…” Zuri giggled.
“That sounds like a compliment.”
Zuri squinted her eyes and scrunched her nose, indicating that she was thinking of something and Khaos liked to see her when she was deep in thought. Obviously, this sight was way better than when she lost control over her mind.
Khaos had dealt with Rhett. He forced him to announce that Dezgar was the new leader for the magic user for the cult and let them knew that Elijah’s death was because of his act of treason for not obeying the alpha’s order.
That would be the example for the rest of them. That would be a warning for the cult, and also Rhett. He came with Khaos’s entourage to Great Lunar Kingdom along with Dezgar, but he had been avoiding Zuri, though it was not like she was looking for him either.
“Great… great…” Zuri mumbled, she beamed when she thought of a way to make use of Khaos’s extra food supplies. “Even when the winter is over, we need to at least wait for a month to receive the supply from another continent, but because almost all the merchants have been lobbied by Great Lunar kingdom, we will suffer for a while because of that. During the crisis, we can sell the food supply to your king brother with a very high price!”
What Zuri said was not exactly what Khaos had been planning, but it was so close. The only mistake there was; Zuri was still thinking Khaos’s goal was to give Dacre a bad image in front of the public when his true goal was to strip him down from his throne.
The golden stamp was almost in his hand and the beauty blood was only a curse away from completion. More so, seeing how normal Zuri was right now, one more curse would be a walk in the garden.
However, Khaos was still not willing to put her through the ritual. He was stalling and he knew that.
“That’s how you gained profit from the trading, hm?” Khaos pinched her chin and lifted her head so he could see those eyes, her black eyes sparkled in excitement. She was excited to scheme against the king.
“I am a merchant by heart.” Zuri grinned.
“What if Dacre refused to buy it?” Khaos tested her. He liked to see the wickedness in her eyes.
“Then, he will let the people starved and it will be on him, if they died because of it. It will enrage the people.” Zuri smirked. “I have observed Princess Rose like what you said and she cared so much about public opinion, that’s how she made her approach, there is no way she will not suggest the king to appease the people first.”
“You are very smart,” he praised her. “How lucky I am to have you.”
Zuri smiled so wide, she thought she would look very ridiculous, but she didn’t care. His compliment sounded really nice. No. It sounded amazing. She felt great.
His compliment was like an addiction. She wanted it more.
And now, Zuri could understand. She didn’t change. She was still the same. The little girl, who was so thirsty for acknowledgment and Khaos always gave what she needed. He said the words that she wanted to hear. He touched her in a way that made her felt comfortable.
Whether it was a mate bond or not, or whether it was the attachment between the lycan and the Shell, Zuri knew that Khaos would be the only person, who could make her comfortable.
“Well, I am glad, I can make you feel that way.” Khaos smirked. Her mind amused him.
“Stop reading my mind!”
Well, he comforted her, but he annoyed her as well.

“Who are you?” Ezra stared at the other person, who was hiding in the shadow of the night, he was standing next to an oak tree.
After Khaos ordered him to leave River Creek pack, he had been spending his time in Greywolf pack, fidgeting over the thought that Khaos’s attachment toward Zuri would hinder their life long goal.
“I am part of the cult. I am here to inform you about what happened,” the man said.
His voice was low and rough and from his scent, Ezra knew that he was a shifter. If he was part of the cult, he must not be part of the magic user, who put the curse on Zuri.
The cult consisted of magic users and shifters alike, but Ezra had not yet had time to learn more about them, because Khaos was so livid when he learned what he approached Zuri behind his back.
The alpha was willing to throw him aside and demote his son for that woman. So, Ezra felt justified if he was worried if Khaos couldn’t complete the beauty blood.
“What happened?” Ezra proceeded with caution. He couldn’t believe this man completely. He put his guard up. He came here after a mysterious letter that he received two days ago.
“A lot has happened,” the man replied and then he recalled everything to Ezra. Every single detail of it and the more he talked, the darker Ezra’s expression was.
“The alpha Killed the head of the magic user?! He killed Elijah?!” Ezra had expected Khaos would react badly to anyone, who wanted to harm that woman, but the problem here; there was no way that woman wouldn’t be harmed. “How ridiculous!”
And now, after he heard what happened, his fear was confirmed.
“He should have let them finished!” Ezra was pacing back and forth, he felt unsettled with this fact, but the next thing that man said left him speechless.
“I don’t think it will be easy from now on. The alpha has marked that woman.”
Ezra opened his mouth, but then closed it again, he wanted to say something, but there was no word that could come out.
In the end, he shook his head and mumbled to himself. “We need to do something. As long as that woman with him, he is not going to complete the beauty blood. Khaos is not in his right mind. We need to help him.”

The next morning when Zuri woke up, she didn’t see Khaos, but the side of his bed was still warm, which meant, he left not so long ago.
