Chapter 103 – Falling for the Last Lycan Novel

Thus, she made sure, they knew when she was here.

“Give it to me!” Lyra growled at Zuri, this was not the gentle behavior that she used to show to other people. Everyone really had their own dark secret and shit they wanted to hide.

“Why? Sir Bairone refused to give you more? He didn’t want you to increase the dose?” Zuri tilted her head, taunted her.

Lyra should have known that, she should know that Zuri knew her secret, but her mind was so muddle, she couldn’t think straight.

“I will not give you a shit!” Lyra growled at her, but Zuri didn’t budge. A growl was not enough to make her flinch.

“Fine.” Zuri nodded graciously, which only confused Lyra, because she expected a fight, an argumentation, but there was nothing. The other woman threw her off guard. “Here, you can take this.”

Zuri threw the small packet filled with opium to her face, but Lyra was too slow to catch it, it slid down from her face and then dropped around her feet.

She blinked her eyes, she looked silly when she did that and Zuri chuckled with the sight.

“Go on, take it, I know that you want it.”

Losing her mind, Lyra knelt down and took the small packet, she blinked her eyes again and then sniffed. She beamed when she recognized it.

Zuri watched when Lyra breathed in the powder and her eyes rolled back, she looked happy, she looked like she didn’t care for the world, she had her own world and she was happy there. Zuri wondered how it felt to be happy like that…

Slowly, Zuri approached Lyra, who was giggling, licking her hands for any remnants of the powder. She looked crazy, but happy…

Zuri knelt down next to her and she was not even alerted with their close proximity. “I will give you more. Meet me here three days from now.”

Lyra gave Zuri the sweetest smile, as she giggled and laughed. She even kissed Zuri’s cheek and nodded like a little child.

“Okay, okay… okay…”

Zuri stood up, she wiped her cheek, where Lyra had kissed her and walked away, but not before she stared at the princess’s happy face. She wondered, how it felt to get high like that…

And once Zuri had walked away, Lyra was alone there, her laughter echoed throughout the shrine’s walls. She sounded happy to escape the reality and go to whatever places in her mind that she desired.

“Wow, you are quick,” Caiden commented, as he met her at the exit of the shrine in the backyard. Not so far from them, at the corner of the bustling street was a carriage, where Khaos had been waiting for her.

The alpha was going to meet with the king to talk about the food supply, along with the other merchants, who had agreed to be the king’s sources.

“There is nothing to talk more, she is already high. I wonder if she heard my last word.” Zuri shrugged her shoulders.

“You know this will destroy her.”

“She already destroyed herself the moment she touched the opium.”

“Yes, I know. It’s just so sad that she ended up like that.”

Zuri narrowed her eyes at Caiden. “I don’t know that your heart is very soft.”

“My heart is not soft, but squishy,” he said playfully, which made Zuri shuddered, because his expression was so cringy.

“Don’t make that look, you give me goosebumps.”

They got the supply of opium from Rhett, that was why he had been a way before and the plan was plain and simple.

Bairone used opium to control princess Lyra and they were going to use the same method to get the golden stamp.

They would add the dosage, since she couldn’t get it from Bairone. Because the merchant didn’t want to make it so obvious that she was on drug.

That was why, Zuri would come to the temple to deliver the item that the princess wanted. For free. At first…

“Why don’t we just threaten her? It will be faster.” Caiden still didn’t understand with Zuri’s method, she was playing a long game.

“Faster but not efficient. We have nothing to hold over her. Threatened her with what? With her life?” Zuri raised her brows. “How effective it will be? But, with her own addiction, she will relent.”

“How can you be so sure?”

“Because this kind of addiction is not something that you could stop just because you wanted to. You will be the slave of your own addiction.”

She really needed to thank Rhett to teach her this kind of things. When Rhett took her to the black market, to meet with Bairone, he showed her what addiction could do to you and needless to say, it was not pretty…

And Zuri was right, two weeks later when she came without the packet of opium, Lyra lost her mind.

“Bring me the golden stamp and I will give you the opium. Easy.” Zuri smiled sweetly at her.

“I am not going to give you anything!” Lyra shouted at her, she screeched like a banshee and charged toward her, but it was easy for Zuri to dodge her.

Zuri watched as she went crazy and it felt like she saw herself in her. Crazy, disorganized, hallucinated and couldn’t think straight.

Lyra was her in her crazy state…

Dacre and his entourage reached the palace within ten days, he marched toward the dungeon first before he met his queen.

There, he saw Killian was restrained to the wall with silver chain. He looked dirty and his hair was messy. He lifted his head and met his eyes, but those eyes filled with defiance. He didn’t shy away from the confrontation.

“Open the door,” Dacre said and one of the warriors came over to unlock the cell. “Leave. All of you leave.”

The king’s order was absolute, thus they left a second later. Neither of the warrior knew what happened and why the queen’s personal warrior was chained here. But, to see how livid the king was, they believe this was something fatal. Killian’s mistake was unforgiveable.

“Why did you do that?” Dacre asked, he entered the cell. He walked slowly, as if he didn’t want to come near him, but his body didn’t want to listen to him.

Killian scoffed when he heard the question. “Why not?” he asked defiantly. “I have slept with her once, why I can’t sleep with her again? Have you forgotten that the baby is mine?”

A harsh slap landed on Killian’s face, which made his ears rang. He gritted his teeth to hold back his anger.

“I told you not to touch her!” Dacre roared angrily. He slapped Killian again, but the man didn’t seem to care, he smiled derisively at him and this was the first time for Dacre to see such disgust from Killian. This man used to look at him with affection and devotion.

“Why not? You touched someone else too. You betrayed me and your mate. Why can’t I touch her when I already did it? You can’t say what I have done with the queen is a betrayal. You are the one, who had betrayed us to be with that woman.”

A deep frown formed on Dacre’s forehead when he heard that. He didn’t have any idea what he was talking about.

“What do you mean?”
