“Hm. I can take some rest from the craziness in my mind…”
Zuri wanted to get some rest too. But, she reminded herself that she had Khaos. She didn’t need to be an addict. The voices had ceased down now when she was with him.
When Zuri walked out of the back door of the shrine, Khaos had been waiting for her there and she raised the golden stamp in her hand.
“Is this the right one?” Zuri asked, she handed the stamp to Khaos, who examined it and nodded.
“Yes. It is.”
Khaos put his arm around her waist and they walked away from the shrine. Little did she know, the door to the inner shrine was opened, where it should be closed, so Lyra wouldn’t be able to go out when she was high in her mind.
And this little detail would cause great trouble for Great Lunar kingdom, but when it happened, Khaos and all the people had left the territory.
A few days later, they were at the port, where Khaos’s five other ships had anchored.
“Traitor,” Caiden hissed when he saw Shadow nuzzled against Zuri’s hand and licked her face. “You are a wolf not a dog, so act like one. That’s so embarrassing.”
Caiden had been sulking because Shadow would always want with Zuri, even though it was Caiden, who had taken care of the wolf all this time and fed him until he was this big.
Childishly, Caiden nudged Shadow’s head when the wolf nuzzled his head against Zuri’s touch.
“Your hurt him,” Zuri complained, she swatted his hand away.
“Oh, please. He has a lot of meat that even if he fell from high place, the meat on his body will make him bounced.”
Zuri couldn’t help, but laughed at that image. She felt so light and happy recently, her step was not heavy and the hatred in her heart ceased down significantly.
“You are so dramatic.”
They watched as Khaos’s warriors put all the food supplies on the carriage. From what they heard the people in the River Creek pack were not in good state. They had been running out of food supply for days and needed it more than ever, but if they had to wait for the delivery from the other continent, it would take another week for the ships to reach their port.
Therefore, when Khaos and Rhett walked through the gates, their eyes lit up and the word spread around very fast. They started to contradict the rumor they had created about Rhett and Zuri were the traitor and how Khaos had abandoned the people.
Rose glared at Zuri when people greeted her with delight, but the luna approached the princess and offered her a pack of meat.
“Here, take it. Don’t be shy, you have worked so hard to entertain the people when I was not here.”
The way Zuri was speaking to her made her blood boiled. Rose could sense it. The luna was mocking her openly. She didn’t even try to be subtle about it.
But, Rose wouldn’t take the bait so easily. She had gone through worse than this. A little luna like Zuri meant nothing to her.
“Thank you so much, luna Zuri.” Rose took the pack of meat and gave Zuri a warm smile. “I know that you will be back, but I hope next time you disappeared, you will inform your people about your whereabouts, so there would be no false assumption.”
“If their loyalty is so easily swayed just because they heard a few bad rumors about me and because I didn’t explain my action in detail, then I don’t want them. Trust is mutual.”
“In my opinion, you should have explained… they will not understand, if you didn’t say anything.”
“They are the subject of the alpha, but if the pack member couldn’t even respect their alpha, what else you could expect from them? There are a lot of things that couldn’t be discussed in public, you know that. There is what you called as a secret plan, something that you shouldn’t share in public. If we told them about where we were going, do you think we can manage to get this food supply?”
Zuri made them assumed that her disappearance was part of the secret plan to get the food supply, though the reality was not like that.
“I can understand…”
“Thank you for your understanding,” Zuri cut her off. “I am glad, I don’t need to educate you more than this. Thank you for entertaining my people here while I was away to get the food supply and now I am so exhausted, I will take my leave first. I hope you continue to take care of them.” Zuri grinned at Rose and patted her shoulder when she was about to talk again.
Zuri was already walking away when Rose wanted to keep this conversation going on.
The luna’s word was powerful enough that made all the people around them fell silent, they were embarrassed for the way they talked about Zuri in the past few weeks when she disappeared. They lowered their heads and acted very polite to Zuri after that.
And with the supply was already here, they were going to be able to pass the winter smoothly…

“I want to see the king! Open the door! Open the door!” Nycta banged her fists against the wooden door, she had been locked up inside her bedroom for a week ever since Dacre returned. She didn’t know what was going on out there, but she knew Dacre was already here.
At first, she thought, he was going to see her, he was going to ask her, interrogating her about why she did what she had done with Killian. She was ready to answer all the question.
However, to her surprised, Dacre didn’t come. He didn’t come to visit her at all. If there was no visit, there was no question, which meant, Nycta couldn’t tell Dacre her reason and this ate her alive. She needed him to hear her explanation.
“I want the king! Open this damn door!” Nycta was so angry she was crying. She had refused to eat since yesterday and it could a danger for her and the baby. Dacre should be here by now.
But, little did she know, her scandal with Killian had spread wide and nasty. People talked, and once people talked, you knew there was no stopping it.
The elders demanded the king’s explanation.
“The queen is pregnant with Killian’s baby, her own personal warrior.”
“No, I heard Killian is the king’s lover. That’s why the king has never been with any woman… you know, he…”
“No way. That’s blasphemy. The king is not like that, right?”
“But, the royal warrior saw Killian and the queen… doing something dirty.”
“No, I think Killian had forced himself to the queen.”
“Really? Poor queen Nycta.”
People talked and talked and the demand came pouring down against the king. On top of this matter, Khaos sent him a letter, asking him to pay for the food supplies that he managed to provide. The number made Dacre hurled a glass across the room.
“He is crazy! There is no way I am going to pay that much for food supplies! The winter is over!”
Leonard immediately came to Dacre’s side and saw the letter. “You need to pay this, my king. Knowing alpha Khaos, he will only cause more trouble if you didn’t.” They had a lot now with the court, they didn’t need the public to see the king in bad light.
Dacre growled, but he knew Khaos better and Leonard was right. He was going to do something about it. It was like a trap and he walked straight into it.
“Any suggestion?”
Leonard sighed. “The option is obvious, Dacre. You either let go of Killian or you kill the queen and risk being at odd with Wolfdale Kingdom.” He added. “The first option is the best.”
“Call Rose back.”
