“For?” Zuri shifted her attention toward him. Both of them were sitting on the ground, watching as grass started to come out, indicating the winter was truly over. “For babysitting your twin brothers?”
Caiden rolled his eyes. “I am sure, they were the one, who managed to get you out of the bed. They have been very curious about you, because they happened to overhear that you are the future luna of the pack.”
Zuri touched the bracelet. It made of colorful rope with three small stones as the accessories.
“I thanked you because you have saved Bryden’s life. Just like how you saved mine.”
“I am not that generous.”
“Oh, please, just admitted it. You sent him to Wolfdale kingdom to give him a second chance to prove himself and fix his mistake.” Caiden laid down on the ground, staring at the clear sky. “The same thing that you did to me.”
“Well, to be honest, I did that because you, the two of you, are useful, it’s such a waste not to use you and threw away your talent.”
“Well, whatever. Thank you anyway.”
There was silence that stretched between them, but it was a comfortable silence. She liked it. Zuri just realized that aside from Khaos and Gayle, she was also comfortable with Caiden’s company.
“I argued with your mother,” she admitted, laying down on the ground next to Caiden, but she used Shadow as a pillow.
“I know. She has been very upset because of that. Just ignored her.”
Zuri couldn’t tell whether Caiden asked her to ignore Mabel because he knew his mother could be a bitch, or he simply didn’t want Zuri to lose control and attack her. Probably both.

The situation in Great Lunar kingdom didn’t look good. The discovery of princess Lyra’s addiction had shaken their nation.
Later it was revealed that the opium users in that kingdom had increased and it came from one source; Bairone. There was an internal conflict in their court and the news about the existence of the lycan only added to the complication of their situation. They closed their kingdom from the outsider.
People inside couldn’t go out, while the outsider couldn’t go in.
Meanwhile, Khaos’s scout got the news that the king would march ten thousand of his royal warriors to raze Greywolf pack, which caused panic among the pack member. Some of them tried to flee the pack and some of them stayed simply because they had nowhere to go, but the fear that the king created was a great shock to lower the moral of Khaos’s people.
“Open the pack house,” Zuri said, as she settled in the same room with Khaos. Mabel prepared different room for her, but she went straight to Khaos’ bedroom every time she wanted to sleep, she even moved her things there, which irritated the woman.
Well, she did that to irritate her.
“Open the pack house?” Khaos raised his brows. He approached her and joined her in the bed. It dipped and Zuri snuggled against his chest. “Why do you want to open the pack house?”
“We still have a lot of food supply and the distribution of food is still not stable in this kingdom, because of the winter. We will have festivity.”
The people’s moral was rather low because of the threat from the king, thus they needed to do something quickly.
However, convincing them with words wouldn’t do, it wouldn’t be effective, but if they opened the pack house and had a festivity to answer the threat from the king, it showed that they couldn’t care less, that Khaos had prepared for this.
It must be princess Rose’s idea to spread fear among the people, but it wouldn’t get the affect that she wanted if they didn’t care.
“Brilliant,” Khaos praised her. He leaned over and captured her lips. “But, I have a better idea for that,” he said against her lips.
He traced his fingers along her spine, which made her shivered in delight. Recently, Khaos touched her more intimately and she craved for it.
“What do you have in mind?” Zuri asked, panting lightly when he ended the kiss.
Instead of giving the answer, Khaos relayed it through the mindlink, which made Zuri blushed.
“Do you like it?” He asked softly against her ear.
King Amidas would visit Celeste kingdom to attend his daughter’s union with alpha Logan and Bryden got his scout to figure out, which path he would take.
“Beta Bryden,” king Amidas greeted him. This was not the first time he met with the beta, but of course, all of that happened in different setting. “What a pleasure to see you. May I know why I got the honor to be stopped by you in the middle of nowhere?”
Bryden was standing in front of the king’s entourage. Ten warriors in their beast form were behind him, which cautioned the king’s warriors. King Amidas himself was still inside his carriage.
“I came here with the offer from our alpha. Alpha Khaos.”
“Are you going to say that lycan alpha?” King Amidas wanted to confirm the news and Bryden replied without missing a beat.
“Yes.”
Shock flashed on king Amidas’s expression with the confirmation, but then it was gone very quickly. “I want to hear what is the offer.”
With that, the king invited the beta to enter his carriage. It looked easy and it could be a trap, but Bryden went anyway. He didn’t have a choice. There was no way for him to go back.

Rose was gritting her teeth when she was wearing her beautiful dress. Today was her union with alpha Logan, but even now, she had not yet met with him. She avoided to see him, despite knowing that she would eventually see him.
“Stop frowning, sister.” Nycta leaned over, whispering to her sister’s ear, just like a devil. “You will enjoy this union more than you thought.”
Hearing that, Rose was seething. She glared at her reflection on the mirror and watch how Nycta chuckled with delight at her misery. She wouldn’t give her the satisfaction to see her lost her composure.
Right now, they were inside Rose’s bedroom. The preparation was very simple, since the union was rather small.
It could be said as a meeting between two kingdoms, where only the main family that would attend. There was no celebration, since this union was also a meeting between king Dacre and king Amidas to discuss about what they were going to do with the lycan.
It was a far cry happy occasion and the union was supposed to happen once in a lifetime. Rose was enraged because Nycta managed to pull this act against her.
“Smile, sister, or else other people might think you enter this union by force.” Nycta patted her sister’s shoulder. She was showing now and she started wearing the dress that showed it off. She wanted people to know that she was pregnant, reminding them that she carried the heir to the throne.
“Thank you for your concern.” Rose smiled back at Nycta through the reflection on the mirror. “I am just sad that I don’t get a celebration when alpha Khaos and luna Zuri will have a grand festivity for their union.”
Rose shifted her body, so she could see her sister directly, her eyes pierced through her. Nycta might be a little bit bold recently because of her rage, but Rose was always the wicked one.
“Don’t you think it feels like a ‘fuck you’ for king Dacre? Alpha Khaos didn’t seem to car with king Dacre’s warriors that will march toward his pack in a few weeks.”
Rose emphasized the word ‘fuck you’, as if she was cussing Nycta.
“As a queen, I will not let my king to be humiliated like that.” Rose tilted her head. “If I were you, I will be ashamed to suggest this humble union, because it will disgrace the king.”
Rose touched Nycta’s hand delicately, as she did with a child, because she was treating Nycta as one and this was infuriating.
