“Oh, dear sister. You don’t know what to do, right? In your rage, you humiliated the king. Defame him. You really need to control your anger to be a good leader. But, it’s okay. You are so young. You have a lot of time to learn how things work.”
Nycta pulled her hand, but Rose held it a little bit tighter, though her words was as sweet as always.
“Also, you really need to learn how to control your tantrum, because that’s not only put the king in disadvantage, but you will tarnish his name one day if you continued being like this. You can ruin his image in front of his people.”
Nycta swatted Rose’s hand, she used her strength this time and raised her hand to slap her, but Rose saw it and grabbed her hand again.
“Be smart, sister, not everything is about you.” Rose smirked.
What Rose said was right, especially the part where she mentioned that the festivity in Greywolf pack was a ‘fuck you’ from Khaos.
Because that was not a simple festivity, but a union between Khaos and Zuri. Not only that, Khaos even raised the old dynasty’s flag. It was white wolf with black background, stitched with golden thread. This was the first time the lycan’s flag was raised again after three decades.
People had a mixed feeling about it, but most of them were thrilled. The flag looked majestic and the banners of the lycan’s symbol were hung over the fortress walls.
It was indeed a ‘fuck you’ from Khaos.
The pack house was opened widely, all the people could come inside and met with their alpha and their new luna. Food was abundance and they could fill their stomach until they couldn’t move. Wine was endless.
It was so different from what they heard about the lycan dynasty, how the history pictured them as a tyrant.
People were happy, though they still looked cautious around Khaos, which was understandable and also Khaos didn’t want them to get too comfortable with him. It was good that they still feared him.
“Do you like it?” Khaos asked Zuri, who was sitting next to him, watched the performance.
“I love it,” Zuri replied with a smile.
Zuri only suggested for a festivity to soothe the tension among the people because they just learned that their alpha was actually the lycan. The last lycan from the old dynasty.
However, Khaos took thing to another level entirely. He used her idea to hold their union instead.
“I thought you are going to wait the king to pay for the invoice to fund our union,” Zuri teased him. “I don’t think he paid you yet.”
The sound of laughter from people around them filled the room. People danced to music and children ran around with food in their hands. Everyone looked so happy. If there was one thing that Zuri learned from Rose it would be; your image in the people’s eyes were important. How they saw you could be crucial.
Their dampened moral because the news of the lycan and the imminent battle with the royal warriors seemed to evaporate, at least for now when they were happy and their stomach was full. They chattered with each other happily.
Khaos and Zuri was sitting on the higher stage, watching everyone.
“On second thought, I don’t want his money tarnished our union. This should be a sacred ceremony.”
Zuri laughed when she heard that. “So, do you think his money is dirty?”
“Money is money,” Khaos replied. “I only want to say that I have a lot more than him.” The alpha winked playfully at her, which made her laugh even more.
Zuri was happy. She had not been happy for a long time, but right now, in her precious day of their union, she was very happy, she was grinning from ear to ear. She didn’t see anyone from her past, she didn’t hear any voices in her head. How perfect tonight was…
She didn’t want this to end. She wanted to live like this forever.
Gayle came and talked something to Khaos before he shifted his attention to Zuri. “Can I borrow him for a while? I need to talk about something.”
“As long as you return him in less than an hour, I will be fine.”
“Less than an hour?” The corner of Gayle’s lips twitched. “I think you can survive without him longer than that.”
“I can, but I don’t think they can.” Zuri nodded to the people in front of her.
“Oh, please, don’t make such scary joke. You will be fine.”
Khaos leaned over and kissed her cheek. He caressed her head before he left. “I will make sure he is going to return me as soon as possible.”
On the other hand, Gayle, who heard that could only scrunched his nose. It was not like he could keep the alpha against his wish.
And after that, Khaos left with Gayle, leaving Zuri sitting alone, but it was not for long, because five minutes letter, three little boys approached her.
“Where are you going?” Otis asked, he grabbed Zuri’s hand and pulled her back to her seat.
“What do you want?” Zuri asked tiredly, she knew they were coming after her the moment they walked past their parents’ seat. These little brats had been waiting to approach her when they saw Khaos left and Zuri’s attempt to escape was not quick enough.
“Congratulation, you are the luna of our pack now!” Otis said happily, clapping his hands. Mave and Rian parroted what he said behind him.
Mave moved to Zuri’s left side and flanked her with Otis, who was sitting on her right side, while Rian pressed his body against Otis. He looked so timid.
“Thank you, now you can leave.” Zuri waved her hand. She didn’t think she had a motherly instinct and to interact with little kids was not her strong forte.
However, of course, they ignored it. “So, you the alpha is the lycan, right?” Mave asked.
“That’s what I heard,” Zuri replied nonchalantly and grabbed a glass from Otis’s hand when he wanted to chug down Khaos’s wine. Otis pouted. “I am not going to be blamed for getting children drunk, if you wanted to drink it, do it somewhere else.”
Just to be sure he wouldn’t try, Zuri chugged down the entire wine on the glass.
“So, are you going to make babies’ lycan? A lot of babies?” Otis asked curiously. “You know, to rebuild the lycan dynasty.”
The wine blocked her windpipe because of that absurdly vulgar question from this little boy’s mouth. She choked on it and held herself back when she wanted to cuss out loud.
Where were Mabel and Ezra? Why they set loose their children?
“What baby?” Zuri glared at Otis, but the boy was oblivious on it.
“Baby, baby of you and the alpha.” Otis blinked his eyes innocently.
“I want baby girl,” Mave chimed in.
“No, firstborn should be a boy.” Otis shook his head, as if his brother’s suggestion was ridiculous.
“Or maybe the luna will have twin,” Rian kindly offered solution, he poked his head from behind Otis’s shoulder.
“Right, three girls and one boy.”
“No, it should be three boys and one girl, because a girl is hard to take care of.”
