Chapter 121 – Falling for the Last Lycan Novel

She cussed him out, as she clawed at him. She was seeing red, she only saw the color of anger and hatred. She heard his voice in her head and she couldn’t stop it. She closed her eyes, but the image of his smile engraved on the back of her mind. She couldn’t escape him.

“Arrghhh!!!” Zuri screamed on the top of her lungs. She felt something touched her leg and she clawed at it too, but then she felt the warm blood on her hand.

She stared at the crimson color and then looked down to see her white wolf whined against her leg, bleeding profusely.

She just clawed Shadow in her rage.

“Oh… no…” Her mind cleared, she heard the last chuckle of Xaden, but after that she had her mind for her own to deal with the aftermath. “No, please…”

Shadow writhed in pain, its fur had covered in blood and blood gushed out from the opened wounds on its stomach.

Zuri immediately crouched down and scooped his body into her arms, as she rushed out of the room and asked the warriors to call for a healer.

They were shocked to see so much blood, they wondered whether the blood came from the white wolf only or Zuri was also hurt.

But, they didn’t have time to figure that out, as they rushed to find the healer.

Caiden and Gayle, who heard about this immediately rushed to look for her in the infirmary room. Zuri looked so pale with blood coated her dress, but they didn’t see any wounds on her, which was a good thing.

“What happened?” Caiden asked.

Gayle followed behind him. “Was there an attack?”

Zuri shook her head. She looked startled. “It’s me…” she whispered.

She was losing her grip on the reality.

She slipped back into insanity.

Everything was a blur for Zuri, but there was only one thing that was crystal clear for her. She needed to go to Khaos. She needed him more than her logic could comprehend…

There was no tomb, there was nothing that could remind Dacre of him. He had no special place for him to mourn him. A grave or anything.

His body was presented in front of the court, as a proof that his death was real, that he wouldn’t move anymore and the rumor was not true.

Dacre felt sick to his stomach even when he remembered that moment. He watched Killian’s body was being displayed for them to see and examine. They touched him recklessly and made a disgusting look, as if they touched shit.

The sight alone made Dacre’s blood boiled, but Leonard was there to remind him that he was supposed to act nonchalant.

Therefore, here he was… walking aimlessly in the garden. He used to walk this path to come to the queen’s palace, to see his queen, to see him.

However, even if he came to the queen palace, he wouldn’t be able to catch a glimpse of him.

“Dacre…”

Dacre snapped his head to the side and found Nycta was standing not too far from him. She looked hesitated to approach him. She was too far to have a comfortable conversation, but she was afraid to get too close to him, since Dacre exuded killing intent.

“Can we talk?” Nycta had gathered her courage. She knew Dacre always came, but he would turn around once he arrived at her palace.

“There is nothing to be talked about.” Dacre glanced at her bump. “If something happened to the baby, I am going to kill you myself.”

The baby was the only tie that he had to Killian. The baby was the last remaining piece of him, the shred of his shadow, the only thing that was part of him. Nycta might as well die if she lost the baby.

And the history was not so great, knowing how many babies that he had lost when Rimera failed to deliver them all.

He hated the fact that he might lost this one too.

The regret was getting so strong day by day, he couldn’t stop thinking of their last moment together. How he didn’t say anything and let him think that he hated him, that he was mad at him.

Yes, he was enraged. He found out that they were unfaithful to him, but then it was not the last thing that he wanted him to know. He didn’t want that to be their last moment together.

“How could you say that?” Nycta was trembling. She looked at Dacre in disbelief after what he said. The anger and resentment rose like a bile in her throat. She willed herself not to cry.

“You betrayed me, Nycta and you threatened me with the baby,” Dacre replied. He looked at his young mate, she looked haggard, she was pale and you could tell how much she had been suffering for the past few days.

There was part of him that still cared about her, wanted to reach out and hug her, told her that everything would be alright, that he was still grieving, but he would come around, he only needed time, but there was part of him, who couldn’t care less about what she felt. She was dead to him.

“What should I do to make you forgive me?” Nycta gritted her teeth. She was hyperventilating now and sure enough this wouldn’t look good for the baby. “I threaten you because I was very upset. You couldn’t understand how I felt those past few weeks. Those weeks were torture for me.”

“And the first thing you did, you turned around and fucked him.”

“I didn’t mean it in that way… I…” Rose lost for words, she balled her fist until her fingers stabbed her palms. She didn’t want to look pathetic, why would this her fault alone? Why he punished her like this? “I slept with him before. I slept with him so I can conceive his child for you! It’s not like I have never slept with him! I slept with the same person, whose seed is in my womb!”

Desperation turned into anger and Rose couldn’t hold it back any longer. The way Dacre ignored her hurt more than anything. She would rather have him screamed at her, cussed her out or even slapped her, but this silence was terrifying. It killed her slowly.

And then came the outburst.

“I did everything for you! I conceive someone else’s child. You shared me with your lover and then you left with my sister that clearly wanted to climb on your bed! Have you stopped for a second to think about how I am feeling?! You only cared about how you felt, but my feeling is never mattered, right?!”

“Nycta…” Dacre was startled by her anger. Instinctively, he stretched out his hand to hold her, because she looked like she was going to fall apart.

But, Nycta swatted his hand viciously. She glowered at him, she resented him. “You are angry with me not because I slept with him, right?” She narrowed her eyes and then everything became crystal clear for her. She had been denying this, because she feared it was the truth, but then how could she run away from the fact? “You are angry with me because he slept with me.”

That was the same thing, but had different meaning entirely. It changed everything. And Nycta could see it in Dacre’s eyes.

And the next thing that Nycta did was something that Dacre didn’t expect at all. His queen was young and reckless, he should have seen this coming when he pushed her too far. She was not as calculative as Rose, Nycta was driven by her feeling. Her decision to sleep with Killian to get back at Dacre was the proof of that.

“I, Nycta Amidas, reject you as my mate, may our bond severe for good.”

“Let me help you,” Rose said, she took the bag from Logan’s hand and then started to help him packing his thing, while the alpha said nothing.

For a moment, there was a long silence between them, as they busied themselves with their own task.

“I didn’t have any relationship with the king. I advised him and nothing else,” Rose said without even batting an eye. “No matter what, the king is my sister’s mate. I love my sister. I will never do something like that to her.”

Logan still didn’t respond to that, but he stopped what he was doing and listening. He had his back against Rose, but he could feel it when she walked toward him, approaching him cautiously, as if she was afraid that he was going to yell at her.
