Something had shifted, something had changed, but Dacre couldn’t put his finger on it. It could be only in his mind, because he had been stressed by the situation, which made him overthinking everything.
“Me and the queen are still his daughters, my father will not abandon us.” Rose looked at Dacre in the eyes. “The warrior will be here soon.”
The situation was getting worse, because Khaos’s warriors moved so fast, the battle ended as fast as it began, especially with black magic users on his side. It was overwhelming to fight that kind of power.
At this rate, Khaos might have reached Blackthorne pack within two months and after that, he would have marched to the palace without any obstacle at all.
If Dacre could see that, of course, Rose and her father managed to tell the same thing too. It changed everything, it changed their entire plan.
“I want the exact time,” Dacre said coldly.
“A month.”
“A month!?” Dacre was livid when he heard this.
But, right at that time, Leonard burst into the room, he didn’t even knock when he approached Dacre and whispered something urgently to his ear because Rose was there.
“Ten thousand warriors have deflected to alpha Khaos’s side,” Leonard whispered and that information alone was enough to make Dacre saw red.
He lashed out and threw the first thing that his hand could get, startled Rose and Leonard told her to leave. Later, she learned what happened.
Khaos was in charge for the security of the kingdom, which gave him an access to command all the warriors.
The warriors feared the king, since he was the figurehead of this kingdom, the symbol of power, that kind of feeling came from obligation as a subject, but they respected alpha Khaos, since he was the one, who taught them, disciplined them and was the one, who were around them often.
They used to get an assignment from the alpha, not the king. That was only one of the reasons for this deflection.

By the time Zuri arrived at Golden Stream city, it was night. They supposed to meet with Khaos in Little Red town, but the alpha seemed to have a smooth sailing on conquering the towns and city in Blackthorne pack.
Therefore, only today Zuri finally could meet with Khaos, yet the alpha was not in his tent. He was in the middle of a meeting with his warrior leaders.
“I will wait in his tent,” Zuri said to one of the young warriors, who welcomed them.
“This way, luna,” he said cheerfully and guided him toward the alpha’s tent.
Zuri learned that his name was Sunny, well, that suited him. He looked so cheerful and bright, it was annoying to see someone could smile so freely like that. He must be not older than fifteen years old. She wondered why a fifteen years old was here in the middle of a battle.
“Do you need anything, luna?” Sunny asked.
“No, you can leave.” Zuri waved her hand and Sunny left after telling her the boring words that she could call him if she needed anything.
Once she was left alone, Zuri closed her eyes and drank in Khaos’s scent, which filled the entire tent. It calmed her nerves a little bit. She felt close to him and this gave her a shred of peace, though it didn’t shut down the voices in her head completely.
She had been on the verge of breaking down during their travel here, she couldn’t think clearly and more often than not, she would see those people, who were supposed to be dead. The people that she didn’t want to see anymore.
Even now, she saw her mother, sitting on the makeshift bed, staring at her with her usual judgmental eyes.
‘Look at you. You gain more weight. Do you think this is how you will present yourself to your mate for the first time you met him?’
“Shut up.” Zuri glared at her. “He doesn’t care with my weight. You are the only one, who cares about it.”
‘Oh, my dear. You don’t know how to keep a man.’
“Do you?” Zuri raised her brows. “You can’t even keep father from looking for another woman. You and I both know that he is not the most faithful man in this realm.”
For a moment, Zuri felt pleased because she could shut her mother up from whispering nonsense to her face, but Karina’s smile sweetly.
‘Do you believe that he is in the meeting, instead of being with one of the girls from this city?’ Her lips curled into an amusing smirk. ‘Do you believe that he has stayed faithful when he can get all the woman that he wanted?’
“Shut up. He is not like your mate!” Zuri growled.
‘Go ahead and see whether I am telling you the truth or not.’
“Dismissed,” Khaos said when he saw Zuri entered the tent, where he was discussing their next move with his warrior leaders.
Aside from Khaos, there were five others people there and one of them was a woman. Zuri’s eyes fixed on her immediately.
She balled her fists and gritted her teeth, trying so hard not to lash out, her sanity was hanging by a thread.
There was a woman here. There was a woman with Khaos. She had been by his side all this time. What they were doing? Was she always here? Had they spent time together? Alone?
That woman was beautiful and Zuri had to painfully admit it. She had long brown hair with brown eyes, her body was lean and she had sharp gaze that let anyone knew how fierce she was, how good she was in fighting.
No wonder she became one of the warrior leaders. That position was extremely rare for woman, especially in this realm, where men dominated the population and they didn’t think too highly of woman, more so to have them in the battlefield, thus for this woman to be the leader, she must be an exceptional.
This beautiful warrior leader exuded confident and strong mind and heart.
‘See? I told you. I have warned you, but you don’t listen. You have a blind fate on him and see what he has done behind your back.’
“What’s your name?” Zuri asked her when she followed the other to leave the tent, after they greeted their new luna of the pack.
Deep down, Zuri knew it was wrong, but her voice was drowned by dozen of voices in her head. They kept yelling at her to get angry, to lash out, to show her wrath. But, for what reason? Her logic didn’t work.
“Who are you?” Zuri prodded. She could hear the hostility in her voice. If she could hear it, the other person must have too.
“I am Elena. It’s a pleasure to see you, luna Zuri,” Elena said. Even her voice was so pleasant to the ear.
‘Can you imagine how that beautiful voice moaned your mate’s name? How that body writhed with pleasure under his? Imagine that…’
Zuri needed to shut those voices down, but it was so hard. The voices were in her head and she couldn’t get rid of them, because they were part of her. It almost like removing your limbs. No one could do that.
“You can leave, Elena.” Khaos was already beside Zuri, he put his arm around her waist and this calmed her down a little bit, cleared her mind slightly.
Elena nodded respectfully to the alpha and the luna and then left the tent.
“What is it?” Khaos hugged her from behind and kissed her neck. “You look upset. I thought you will be happy to see me again.”
“Do you happy to see me again? Or was I interrupting your meeting?” Zuri’s voice dripped with sarcasm. She couldn’t help it, she couldn’t reign on her jealousy, or whatever uncomfortable feeling that gnawed in her heart.
