Chapter 137 – Falling for the Last Lycan Novel

“No, the execution will be a deterrent for your reign as the new king, since you delivered justice for the old dynasty.” Zuri looked relax, as she observed the room full of people. The queen was not there and she was the only woman in this room, in which they stared at her weirdly.

They looked like they wanted to say something to Khaos, but because it was the lycan himself, who had allowed her to be there, they had nothing else to say.

Eyren looked impatient. His jaw tightened and when he was like that, he looked like his mother. Yes, he took after his mother a lot, which made him looked pleasant to the eyes, especially with his curly brown hair and dark eyes.

This crown prince was so different from his calculative father. This future king was only two years older than deceased queen Rimera, but he looked very impulsive, which was not a good quality for a king.

Zuri glanced at Khaos, this was why Khaos wanted him to be the king for Wolfdale kingdom. People liked Eyren seemed difficult, but it was very easy to guess what could move him. More so, he was so easy to be manipulated, since this type of people loved to ‘prove their worth’.

“It will set an example for all the traitors that you take your role seriously. Just like any other kingdom, traitors always lurk in the dark. You will want to make them understand that messing with this new regime will be a death sentence for them. They will think twice to try anything funny and it will save you a lot of time and headache.”

From his eyes, Zuri could tell that he didn’t like to be told what to do by a woman, but when Khaos said, basically, the same thing, he listened.

Zuri really wanted to roll her eyes hard. Eyren didn’t realize it yet, but she held status higher than him because of Khaos, since woman’s status was based on their men’s status. Needless to say, Eyren’s reign wouldn’t be easy…

The meeting ended and the execution would be held the next day. There was no time to rest for them.

“You don’t need to come for tomorrow if you don’t feel comfortable.” Khaos put his arm on her shoulder, as they walked in the hallway, playing with her hair.

“And miss the fun when the heads roll on the floor? No, thanks. I want to watch everything.”

And Zuri meant it. There was this cathartic feeling whenever she watched life came to end. It was the feeling that was hard to describe. She could see how vulnerable and fragile life was. No matter how strong you were, you were always be the weaker side against the death.

If she could, she wanted to be the executor. She felt therapeutic whenever she took someone else’s lives.

‘Crazy.’

The voices chuckled in her head, but this time, she welcomed it. It didn’t bother her like it used to be. She didn’t know when it started, but there was this darkness that creeping inside of her, but instead of being scared, she welcomed this feeling.

And the next day, Zuri sat at the front row with Khaos, watching twenty people were being executed, while the rest would be continued for the next day.

Eyron left his seat on the tenth person, he couldn’t stomach the gruesome scene and the smell of blood that got thicker in the air.

“Do you enjoy it?” Khaos asked, after he saw the look on Zuri’s face.

“Ah, no.” Zuri controlled her facial expression and leaned back against the chair. She tried not to be so obvious, but Khaos could see through her.

The lycan had this unreadable look on his face.

And the next day was the crowning ceremony for crown prince Eyren, the security around the palace was very tight, knowing the rebels were against it, since they didn’t want the new king to fall into the lycan’s reign.

At the morning of the ceremony when Zuri just finished with her dress and make up, a maid told her there was someone that wanted to see her.

“Who is it?”

“It’s Sir Lorent.”

Sir Lorent was the king’s brother, someone that king Amidas was willing to give up his throne to save his life.

The morning before the ceremony, where Zuri was in the middle of the preparation with two personal maids that helped her to get into her dress and styled her hair, she was informed that Sir Lorent wanted to see her.

Sir Lorent was the king’s younger brother, but also his advisor, someone whom king Amidas protected to the point, he was willing to step down from his throne for. This was how Zuri made a deal with Jasmine.

Giving Jasmine an idea for her father to step down from the throne on his own, in order to get Khaos’s mercy for her uncle, since Sir Lorent involved in the massacre of the old dynasty three decades ago. He should have been executed along with the other offender yesterday, but because of the deal, he managed to keep his life.

“Great Queen Zuri.”

Sir Lorent bowed down in front of Zuri when she allowed him to enter the room. She was curious what he wanted to talk about.

“Sir Lorent,” Zuri greeted him with the same way and then waved her hand, indicating for all the maids to leave the room.

However their conversation turned out, it was not for them to hear.

“May I know why I am graced with your presence?” Zuri stood up. The dress felt heavy on her body and this restricted her movement, but she liked the golden color. It was the color of the old dynasty and Khaos would wear the same color as well.

“I want to thank you for saving my life,” Sir Lorent said. He had this heavy and deep voice, like someone with wisdom and a pair of sharp eyes. He looked like a younger version of king Amidas, but with a thick wickedness behind his calm fa?ade.

Zuri was alerted. This man might not attack her physically, but the fact he was here already raised a suspicion. It was enough to put her on guard.

However, the voices in her head chose this moment to start talking. From the corner of her eyes, she could see her father was standing with his arms crossed and mumbled something.

“I didn’t do anything.”

“I know that you have offered the solution to make my brother step down from his throne in order to save my life.”

Zuri raised her brows, she was not sure whether this was him being thankful, or he was mocking her. And as if he could see the doubt on Zuri’s face, he explained himself a little bit better.

“I am here to say my gratitude for you, Great Queen Zuri.” Sir Lorent bent his body, his gesture looked genuine, but for someone like him, it could mean anything.

“What do you want, sir Lorent. I didn’t do that out of kindness of my heart.” Zuri didn’t think there was even kindness in her heart. “Make it quick, I have a ceremony to attend.”

Lorent nodded, he understood they didn’t have all day for sweet talk.

“I am here to show my gratitude. Because you have saved my life, I will save yours.”

Zuri tilted her head, she crossed her arms and looked at him without saying anything, prodding him to explain with that statement.

“I come with a warning.”

“A warning?” Zuri repeated the word with a mocking smile, but Sir Lorent looked unperturbed with her rudeness. “Do you want to warn me?”

“Yes.” He nodded. “Do you know why the old dynasty was taken down?”

“Should I care about that?”

“You have to. This is about your life.”

Zuri wanted to laugh to his face. The audacity he had when he talked about this was shocking. If there was someone between them, whose life was in danger, it would be him. Did he forget that he almost lost his life?

However, there was something about him that made Zuri stopped herself to mock him. He looked very serious, as if he believed whatever thing that he was going to say. As if he believed that Zuri’s life was in danger.
