Read them thoroughly. We don’t make exceptions for rule breakers, not even for Alphas. Off you go. You’re holding up the traffic.”
Troy glared at the guard but chose to ignore his attitude, and we drove on as a large dragon flew down beside our car and transformed into a gorgeous Asian woman.
“Cover up for goddess sake!” We heard the guard yell at her before we were too far away to hear anymore.
I had never seen a dragon in person, Alpha Troy didn’t allow any outsiders onto our pack lands, not even Lycans, though I doubt he’d have turned away the royal family, he’d have been too scared.
“Damn, she was hot.” Scott commented as he turned to look out the back window, “I always thought dragons were ugly, old.”
“That’s enough, Scott!” Luna snapped at him, but Troy laughed.
“Calm down, my sweet.” He hushed her, “You can’t expect the boy not to comment. She shifted right in front of him. What’s he supposed to do?”
“He is supposed to remember he was raised to be a gentleman.”
I rolled my eyes and returned to the book I’d been reading before we reached the gate. Scott is a gentleman, yeah right.
After another hour of driving through a gorgeous golden city half covered in plants and flowers, we finally reached a large tower half-carved into a mountain.
The Lycan city was a million times more beautiful than ours was, I wished I could live here forever.
I felt a strange sense of belonging when I got out of the car and stretched. It almost felt like I’d been here before, kind of like I was returning home rather than visiting for the first time. How strange, perhaps my mate was here after all, I hoped.
I pulled out my duffle bag and threw it over my shoulder before following Luna Morgan, who was looking at her phone.
“Kids, make sure you read these rules.” She turned to us, “Scott, you’ve been here before, so I expect you to lead the girls by example.”
“Don’t worry, mom.” He said and placed his arm over my shoulder, “I will take good care of Maddie.”
“Thank you, darling.” She smiled at her son, “You’re always such a big help.”
When she turned back towards the tower, I shoved Scott off of me, but he growled softly and gripped my wrist.
“Don’t push me, wolfless.” He linked me angrily, “I still owe you from this morning.”
I pulled my wrist free and continued on after the Luna.
‘I hope he breaks one of the laws and gets his head cut off!’ I said to Ava, who I hoped was listening, ‘Stupid pig of an Alpha!’
We all headed inside the large and very impressive lobby where several werewolves and Fae were wandering around chatting happily, the atmosphere of the upcoming ball was filling the air, and I even found myself getting excited.
Finally, we’d checked in and headed up to the seventh floor, much to Alpha Troy’s disgust. He was furious that an Alpha wasn’t given a suite on the top floor, but he was told all the bigger suites had been filled up by the Lycan Alphas who were attending the ball and as this was Lycan territory, they had priority.
I didn’t mind though. The suite we were given was far grander than anything I’d ever experienced.
We walked in through large carved wooden doors, immediately in front of us was a beautiful water feature wall on a marble floor.
On the left and right of the water feature was an opening that led you into the lounge room, equipped with a massive TV, a long black sofa that could fit five people easily, and two smaller sofas, along with a coffee table lined with various pamphlets.
Through the lounge room was a large dining table, and behind that was a kitchen with all the usual things you’d expect in a kitchen.
Besides the TV was another opening that led to two bedrooms and a bathroom and on the other side of the lounge room beside the sofa was yet another opening that led to two more bedrooms and a bathroom.
“Kids,” Luna Morgan said as she placed her purse down on the dining table. “Go pick a room and get settled in, and Troy has a few meetings this afternoon, so we’ll get changed and go explore the city until dinner.”
“Yes, Luna,” I nodded and followed Sky to one side of the suite. I had no intention of sleeping on the side with Scott.
“I want to go see the mall.” Skyler announced as we headed towards the rooms, “Apparently, they have an indoor ski resort. Can you believe that? Oh, I guess you cant ski, as you’ve never been anywhere. This must be so thrilling for you.”
I glared at her. “You might want to check a mirror before we head out again.” I commented, “You have mustard on your cheek from lunch.”
Without another word, I went into the bedroom and shut the door, happily listening to Sky scream angrily and march into her own room.
MADELYN’S POV
Wow, just wow…
This bedroom was wonderful. A huge King bed sat in a carved out section of the mountain, giving it its own space. There was a desk to my left where a closed door was placed, I must have been for the bathroom, and on the right was a fireplace and two sofas, and behind that was a glass wall and doors that led into another carved out cave of the mountain with a glass wall overlooking the city.
I couldn’t wait to see the view of the city tonight when it was all lit up.
I placed my bag down on the desk and changed into a pair of jeans and a pretty white top before returning to the lounge room.
Luna Morgan was kissing Alpha Troy goodbye at the door while Scott sat on the sofa with his legs up looking bored already, but Sky took another half an hour to come out of her room. She’d clearly taken a shower and changed into a red low cut dress and denim jacket.
“Ready.” She announced, as if any of us cared.
“Took you long enough!” Scott complained as he stood up. For once, I was in agreement with the pig.
“I might run into my mate or one of the princes.” She told us, “I have to look my best.”
“Well then, you should get a paper bag and put it over your head.”
“Scott, leave your sister alone.” Luna Morgan said and shook her head. “Let’s head off.”
Admittedly, I had a very fun afternoon which was rare considering I hated two out of the three people I spent the afternoon with. We explored parts of the city and Sky dragged us shopping before meeting up with the Alpha again and having dinner in the tower’s dining room.
I had never in my life had such an amazing meal. The only strange thing was I kept getting weird looks from some of the Lycan Alpha who were also out to eat, but I figured it was just because we were werewolves and let it go.
Finally, we returned to our suites. We were all full and exhausted after such a long day, and I very much welcomed the sleep.
After a quick shower, I curled up on the most comfortable bed I’d ever laid in and drifted off, but later in the evening, I heard my bedroom door open and close, and I jumped up in fright.
Scott was standing in my room and switched on the light, and I froze in complete shock.
“Mate!” I gasped when his scent registered to me.
I couldn’t believe this, it was finally my 21st birthday, and I had found my mate.
No, no, this can’t be. Why would the goddess do this to me?
“So you finally feel the bond.” He commented as he leaned back against the door with his arms crossed over his bare chest, “I’ve been waiting for years for you to finally come of age.”
I couldn’t believe this. No, I must have drifted into a nightmare. Yes, that was it, I was having a nightmare, a very vivid horrific nightmare.
I stared at Scott with wide shocked eyes, I think I was going to be sick, I hated this pig more than anything, more than anyone except his father and he was my mate!
“Are you going to say something?”
