“She was upset, so I gave her a hug. It meant nothing.”
“So let me get this straight,” I said angrily and extremely hurt, “You meet your mate and immediately go see another woman. I don’t understand, you said… you said you wanted me. Was that just a lie?”
“Of course not!” Koda told me, “Maddie, I want you more than anything. I forgot all about Blake the second I met you. I didn’t go and see her, she came here, and we broke up.”
My eyes widened, the sound of angry footsteps from earlier, it must have been her, wait.. they only just broke up now?
“So… so you broke up like ten minutes ago?”
“Yes.”
“I can’t believe this.” I turned away from him for a second before glaring angrily at him. “So… you would still be with her if you hadn’t met me?”
“I don’t know.” He ran his fingers through his hair awkwardly. “Most likely, but-“
Jax growled and hit his brother in the arm.
“Shut up, you id*ot.” He snapped, “Look Madelyn, you-“
“Do you have a girlfriend too?!” I cut him off.
“Of course not!” He answered, “But it doesn’t mean I haven’t been with other women. We’re 94 years old, and we have been waiting for you for such a long time, so we have been with other women.”
“Sleeping with someone and making them your girlfriend are two different things.” I pointed out and glared at Koda as tears filled my eyes. “You chose her, you wanted her, and you only gave her up because of me, I’m so sorry you had to sacrifice someone you actually want to be with because the bond is making you desire me now.”
“It isn’t like that!”
“Maybe I should just make it easy for you!” I shouted, and the tears finally fell down my cheeks. “You’re free, and you don’t owe me anything. Go back to Blake. I’m used to never being the one anyone wants. I don’t care, I can reject you now if it’s easier for you. I, Madelyn-“
Koda flew at me faster than I’d ever seen anyone move, and he clamped his hand tightly over my mouth.
“DON’T YOU DARE FINISH THOSE WORDS, I WILL NEVER LET YOU REJECT ME!”
I growled and tried to shove him back, but he was too strong. He had one hand over my mouth and the other on the back of my head, preventing me from moving.
If he wasn’t my mate, I would have been tempted to use my powers on him. I didn’t have those dam cuffs anymore, if would be so easy to hurt him like he’d hurt me.
“KODA, LET HER GO!” Jaxson shouted furiously as he came over and grabbed his brother’s wrist.
“SCR*W YOU!” Koda shouted back just as angrily, “IT ISN’T YOU, SHE WAS JUST ABOUT TO REJECT, I WON’T RELEASE HER UNTIL SHE SWEARS NOT TO!”
“AND HOW THE F*CK IS SHE MEANT TO DO THAT WITH YOUR HAND OVER HER MOUTH?” Jax shouted as his eyes went pitch black, “YOU ARE HURTING HER, I WILL NOT TELL YOU AGAIN, LET HER GO OR I WILL MAKE YOU!”
Koda growled but quickly released me and I stepped away from him crying.
“It’s ok!” Jaxson pulled me into his arms and held me tightly.
This was the first time in my life that someone had held me to comfort me, and I didn’t know how to react. I just stood there with my arms by my side while I cried.
“Please don’t cry.” He begged, “He didn’t mean to frighten you and Blake really doesn’t mean anything. Please don’t reject Koda, please Madelyn. I know you’re hurt, but it’s not the way you think it is. He didn’t want her as a chosen. She was just someone to pass the time with.”
“How do I know you’re not lying?” I asked, my voice shaking with tears, “How do I know he didn’t love her?”
“Because I didn’t!” Koda told me.
“Koda, shut up!” Jax ordered in frustration, “You’re not helping, Madelyn, my darling. Please look at me.”
I looked up cautiously before quickly lowering my gaze again. To look an alpha in the eyes was dangerous and to do it to a Prince, that was unthinkable.
“Don’t do that,” He told me gently as he cupped my face in his warm hands and lifted my face again. “You are allowed to look us in the eyes. Now, I swear to you, that I am not lying. She means nothing. How could anyone mean anything to us when you are there in comparison? Please, give Koda a chance. Don’t reject him, please.”
I sniffed and wiped my face as I pulled out of Jax’s grip and looked at Koda who was watching me with pained eyes.
“You really don’t love her?”
“No!” He said instantly, “I have never loved her or anyone, I swear to you.”
“Ok,” I nodded, “I’m sorry, I won’t reject you.”
“Really?” Koda smiled in relief.
“Yes.”
Koda exhaled and stepped forward with his hands open, but I stepped back again.
“What’s wrong?” He panicked, “You said you wouldn’t reject me?”
“You still smell like her, and I don’t like it.” I told him.
“Oh,” Koda smiled, “Well, that’s easily remedied.”
Koda pulled off his shirt and I gasped in surprise and turned around, pressing my face into Jax’s chest.
“What the f*ck are you doing?!” Jaxson asked in a half amused, half annoyed tone as he wound his arms around me. “Put your clothes back on.”
“Our mate has requested I don’t smell like another female, I’m just trying to accommodate her wishes.”
“Just go wash off,” Jax ordered, “And put on your robe or something.”
“Why?” Koda asked, his mood had shifted so quickly from serious to playful, was he always like this? “We’re going to be naked soon anyway.”
Sh*t, I wasn’t ready for s*x, how was I going to tell them when it was very clear that they wanted it.
“Just go, will you.”
“Fine, but don’t touch her until I get back.” Koda demanded, “I am not missing out!”
JAXSON’S POV
I watched my id*ot brother rush towards the bathroom before looking down at the stunning girl in my arms and hugged her tighter. I never wanted to let her go, but she ruined my plans to keep her in my embrace by leaning back.
“Don’t worry.” I smirked when she nervously looked back, “He’s in the bathroom.”
“Oh,” She responded, and I smiled again.
“Are you disappointed because I can ask him to come back.”
“Stop it!” She blushed and gently shoved me away.
