‘NO!’ I shouted this time, dam it, Ava’s anger must have been joining with mine again ‘I said it’s not happening!’
‘Stephanie, slap her’
‘What?’ I looked at Koda in confusion, was she serious, who was this women to decide when I got marked
‘Yes your majesty’ The women stepped forward
‘Granmother please, is this really nessassary?’ Koda said as he pulled me behind him and held up his hand to Stephanie in warning ‘She meant no offence, she wasn’t raised amoungst Lycans and she doesn’t have full control over her Lycan yet, she didn’t mean to yell, she just doesn’t understand the hierarchy of the pack yet’
‘She will’ His grandmother commented
‘I will not allow you to hurt her’ Kodas voice changed and I realised his Lycan must have combined with him ‘Stand the f*ck back Stephanie’
‘Use the silver glove’ His grandmother said firmly ‘It appears my grandson is also forgetting his place, you might be King someday child but you are not King yet, I still out rank you, so stand down or I will make her punishment worst’
‘I don’t understand what I did wrong?’ I looked at Koda in confusion ‘Why do you get to decide I can’t wait?’
‘Keep speaking and you will regret it Madelyn!’ The Queen mother said angrily ‘Stephanie, let’s get this over with, I have places to be’
‘I will take the punishment for her’
WHAT!??
‘Are you crazy?’ I asked as the guard pulled on a silver glove ‘You can’t, I was the one who upset her, I can’
‘Enough’ He snapped at me ‘Please your majesty, I will take it on her behalf’
‘As you wish’ The old women shrugged
‘No!’ I screamed in fear and grabbed Koda’s arm ‘I can take it, stop please!’
‘I SAID I WAS DOING IT NOW STEP BACK!’ Koda shouted at me and I cowered and looked down at my feet as tears fell down my face.
‘I’m ready’ He told the women.
‘I am sorry Alpha’ She said as she raised her gloved hand
I heard the sound of the wind and then a loud slap and Koda moaned.
I looked up and grabbed his arm again, this time in comfort
‘Again’
‘What!’ I shouted ‘Please don’t’
‘Madelyn enough!’ Koda told me as I cried
The guard hit Koda again and this time he leant over and spat up blood
‘Koda!’ I wept and reached over to touch his shoulder ‘Please stop, I’m sorry, please’
‘Step back’ The Queen mother order and her guard stepped away from us and removed the silver glove
‘I believe you’ve learnt your lesson have you not?’
‘Yes’ I cried and nodded ‘Im sorry your majesty’
‘Good’ She said firmly but then she stepped closer and grabbed my chin to lift my face ‘I like you, you will be a strong Queen one day but you are not Queen yet and we do things differently then those dogs do, remember that’
‘Yes mam’
She turned to her grandson and lifted his face, it was red and bleeding but mercifully he was already healing
‘You stupid boy’ She said to him ‘You can’t always be there to protect her’
‘Perhaps not but luckily if I’m not then Jaxson will be’
‘Tsk’ His grandmother said angrily ‘Too much of your mother in you boy, she never did stop being a warrior, let’s hope this one learns to rule better and let’s all pray she doesn’t go the way of her mother’
I wanted to ask her about my mother but now didn’t seem like the right time, I’d angered her
‘I will see you again soon Madelyn’ She told me as she walked away with her guard ‘And when I do, you had better be marked!’
‘Koda I’m sorry, I’m so sorry’ I cried and tried to check his face.
His lip was cracked but no longer bleeding and there was a huge burn mark around his cheek.
I held up my hand to heal him, I hadn’t mentioned this morning that this was one of my abilities because my healing power came at a cost and I was scared the twins would freak out.
I couldn’t just heal someone, I had to transfer the wound to something else, usually myself but luckily, one day when I was being forced to heal one of Alpha Troys injuries, I touched a tree for support and instead of the wound transfering to me, it went through me to the tree, killing it instantly.
‘I will be ok baby’ He gently took my hand that I’d raised to heal him and he pulled me back to the blanket ‘I have already begun to heal’
We sat down but I quickly grabbed some water and wet one of the napkins to clean his face ‘Really, baby, I am ok, you don’t need to’
‘Why did you do that!?’ I asked angrily as I ignored him and gently started wiping away the blood from his face ‘I would have taken that hit, it wouldn’t be the first time someone’s hit me with silver, I can take it’
‘I don’t care’ He said as I finished cleaning his face ‘I could never just stand there and let someone hurt you and besides, I heal quickly from a silver injury and so does Jax’s so you don’t have to worry’
I felt tears fall down my face again as I looked at his blood on the napkin.
‘Hey, it’s okay’ Koda pulled me into his arms and I wept
I’d never felt pain like this, seeing him hurt was horrible.
‘I’m so sorry’ I told him ‘I’ll do better, I won’t argue anymore, I’ll be good, I’ll change, Im so so sorry’
I didn’t know what was wrong with me, why was I like this, even after being beaten my entire life, I was still so argumentative, when would I learn to just shut up?
‘Shh, stop it please’ He said softly and I felt him stroke my hair ‘Don’t talk like this, Jax’s and I love who you are, we don’t want you to change, just be yourself and if someone doesn’t like it, Jaxson and I will always be by your side to protect you’
‘Can we go?’ I asked when I noticed several pack members watching us
Koda exhaled softly but nodded ‘If you want’
‘Clean this up’ He said to the maid and gestured to the picnic set up.
‘Yes your majesty’ She said and came over to us.
