“I really wouldn’t sweat it, Maddie” Cole paused at a large wooden door with Koda’s and Jaxsons names engraved “Jax doesn’t regret what he did, In fact, I’m sure he’s pissed that Cody stopped him, anyway, this is their office, why don’t you go in and get comfortable, Cody shouldn’t be long”
“Thanks”
“My office is just over the hall if you need anything before he gets back” He told me as he turned to his door “And your guards will be right outside so don’t worry”
I nodded but didn’t respond as I turned the brass handle and walked inside the twins office.
Koda had obviously decorated in here too because it looked very different to the rest of the office suites I’d seen.
In the very center of the room were two huge desks facing each other, but there was a glass divider in-between that had running water flowing down, just like in Evets salon, Koda must have designed that too.
Each desk was equipped with the usual things you’d expect, a computer, papers, tray filled with files but what shocked me the most was when I walked around one of the desks that had Jaxsons scent, I found a framed picture of me sleeping, what? He must have taken it on his phone and printed it off
My cheeks burnt, I was asleep and cuddled up to his chest and my hair was brushed back over my ear, admittedly I looked quite pretty but it was still a little embarrassing to find a picture of me here for anyone to see.
Under the desks was a huge black rug, covering a black marble stone floor with steaks of red throughout.
There were a few different doors leading out of the main square shaped office and large glass doors that just have lead out to a balcony.
A few filing cabinets and shelves were scattered nearly throughout the office as well as several comfortable looking chairs.
I chose to sit in Jaxsons to feel closer to him and pulled up my legs and hugged my knees while I waited for Koda but after a minute of waiting, I got bored and began to fidget with objects on his desk and accidentally hit his mouse which started up the computer.
I looked at the door for a second before pressing the internet icon and pulling up a map of the city where I typed in the address from the note but I frowned in confusion when I saw that it was an old pack house that you could take tours in.
Why would someone want to send me there for a diary, did my mother used to live there?
I continued to look over the map, the city was alot bigger then I’d realized and all of the entrances and exits of the city were guarded so I wouldn’t be able to leave undetected.
I knew I should go, the twins would have a better life without me but I didn’t think I’d be able to force myself to actually leave, I was already head over heels for them.
I was so focused on the map that I hadn’t heard the door handle turn and only registered the sound of the door being pushed open which made me jump in fright.
“Easy baby, it’s just me”
Koda closed the door and pulled off his jacket which he neatly hung over his chair and I blushed lightly when my eyes fell to his body, he really was so s*xy
“What are you looking at?”
Cr*p.. did he see me perving on him.. oh, he meant the computer, I hadn’t closed down the map
“Um.. I was just looking at the city” Technically that wasn’t a lie “I hope it’s okay, I should have asked to use one of the computers first”
Koda rolled his eyes and kissed my cheek “You don’t have to ask permission for anything”
“Okay” I nodded as he looked over and reached out for the picture of me.
“Doesn’t waste anytime, does he” Koda smiled and put the picture on his desk instead of back on Jaxsons before winking at me “Shh, you saw nothing”
I giggled and leaned back in the chair as he sat down on his own chair and rubbed his face.
“Well, Jax is going to be pissed. He missed out his day with you” He commented and started up his own computer “He had big plans but seeing as I’m so unbelievably generous, I will give up my day tomorrow so he can spend it with you”
I smiled “Thank you”
“You both owe me though” He added “You know what, I bet he started the fight just to get out the morning meeting tomorrow. So typical”
Again I laughed, he was good at cheering me up which I suspected was his true purpose for his comments.
“Actually, speaking of the meeting tomorrow” He looked at me nervously “The council want you to come and speak with them”
“Speak about what?”
“Just that you don’t want to be with Scott and that Alpha Troy was lying about keeping you as a maid”
I felt a wave of nausea at the idea of speaking in front of all those people.
I gulped nervously “Okay” I bit my lip
“Don’t stress yourself out about it” He told me “And I’ll be right there with you”
“Okay” I said again and my eyes fell on the map once more “Koda, while you’re working today, would it be alright if I went to visit the old packhouse?”
Koda’s eyes widened as he looked up at me ‘Um.. Maddie, I don’t want you to feel like you have to ask permission to go anywhere because you don’t’ He told me “It’s just, with Troy and Scott still here and you being unmarked, I don’t want you to leave my side and I’m not really sure why you’d want to see it, it’s just an old four story manor”
“My mother lived there” I pointed out and his face softened.
“I’m sorry for being insensitive” He told me “If you want to see it, I’ll take you later, but for now, I want you to stay with me”
“Okay” I said defeated. How would I find the diary with him by my side, should I admit about the note?
“You can watch a movie or something” He suggested “Or, I can give you a book about the pack, you’ll have to learn about it anyway if you’re going to be Queen”
I nodded sadly and looked down but then Koda exhaled and came over to me “Please don’t be sad” He pleaded and touched my face “I just don’t want anything to happen to you”
“I understand”
He frowned for a second “Okay fine” He gave in, and I looked at him in surprise “You can go now but you will stay with your guard at all times”
“Really?”
“Yes as long as you promise”
“I promise” I said quickly “I won’t leave the guard, thank you, Cody”
I hugged and kissed him before I realized what I’d done, and I pulled back blushing, but he pulled me back in and kissed me again before we left the tower and went over to the car
My guard sat in the front seat of the car by my driver while I climbed into the back and looked over at my anxious mate who grabbed my seat belt to pull over my body.
“She doesn’t leave your side, Dane is that clear!”
“Yes Alpha” Dane said very seriously.
“Cody, I’ll be okay” I smiled to comfort him “I’m just looking at a building”
“I shouldn’t be doing this” He said more to himself than to me “Troy could try something and Jax would kill me if he knew I’d let you out of my site”
“I will keep her safe, your majesty” Dane told him firmly “I won’t let that ba*stard near her, oh, forgive my language Luna”
