Chapter 78 – Lycan Prince’s Slave Mate (Madelyn & Jaxson) Novel Free Online by Jess

A crowd had begun to form as we worked on our girl but I could hear several guards usher them back but I didn’t care about them

All I cared about right now was hearing my girls heart beating again while in the back of my mind, I made plans to kill myself, I wasn’t living without her, I wouldn’t, I couldn’t…

I heard one of her ribs crack under my pressure and I froze

“KEEP GOING, ITS NORMAL!” Koda shouted before looking down at Madelyn “COME ON BABY, BREATHE, PLEASE FIGHT!”

I started compressions again and to my horror, a second rib cracked under my onslaught but I kept going and then finally, mercifully I heard her weak heart begin to beat.

It wasn’t a strong heartbeat but it was there and I felt my entire body break out into a cold sweat as the adrenaline began to wear off

“LETS GO!” Koda shouted and shifted once more.

I climbed back onto my twins back and we started racing back towards the hospital.

By this time sirens were closing in on us but I didn’t know if they were coming towards us or the still burning building but it didn’t matter anymore, we were nearly there and it was quicker to just continue on our own.

The large hospital came into view and held Madelyn tighter.

“Just hold on sweetheart, we’re nearly there, it’s going to be okay”

I said the words, more to myself then my girl but I couldn’t help but feel they were a lie, she’d lost so much blood, she was so broken and she’d already died once, could she keep fighting, would she make it?

We barged into the hospital, causing several pack members and hospital staff to jump out of the way in fear ‘GET ME BRADELY NOW!” I screamed, he was the best surgeon/healer we had and I wouldn’t trust anyone else.

Thankfully he was working and came running towards us a few minutes later as I placed my mate down on a hospital bed while nurses began scurrying around us.

After some screaming and demands at Bradley he asked us to leave so he could help her but I grabbed him by the arm and looked into his frightened eyes

“You keep her alive!” I said in a calm voice that I didn’t recognise “If she dies, so do you”

KODA’S POV

I couldn’t stand this waiting, I was going crazy as I paced up and down the hall in front of the operating theatre in a pair of blue srubs that a nurse had shyly passed to me and Jax..

Jax had stopped talking and was sitting by the door elbows up on his knees and his head in his hands, gripping his hair.

Our mother had joined us shortly after we’d arrived at the hospital but she was covered in smoke and her clothes were singed from the fire so one of the maids had brought her some clothing and she was currently in one of the private rooms changing.

I looked at the clock on the wall and I swear the dam hands hadn’t moved but it had felt like hours since they’d taken Maddie into surgery.

I growled furiously and ripped the clock from the wall and threw it at the ground, smashing it to pieces.

Jax didn’t even flinch and this made me even angrier, he was usually the one losing it and I was the one calming him down but it was as if he was in too much pain to function.

“Koda?” I turned to see Evet walking down the hallway holding some clothes and two coffees in a tray.

She looked down at the clock and exhaled as she placed the drinks down on a shelf.

“Julia gave these to me to pass on” She held up the clothing but I grabbed them and threw them away.

“I don’t want clothes!” I shouted at her “I want me MATE!”

Evet stepped back with tears in her eyes as my mother came rushing back down the hallway.

“It’s okay Evy” My mother smiled and touched her arm “He’s not mad at you dear, pick the clothes up please”

Evet nodded and retrieved the clothes from the ground as my mother turned on me.

“Do not speak to her like that!” She ordered “She is just trying to help, you’re covered in blood”

I looked down at my body, I hadn’t taken in my appearance since I’d pulled on the hospital scrubs but I was covered in Maddies blood.

I looked over at my twin who still hadn’t moved an inch and he too was covered.

This realisation only made things worse, she’d lost so much blood, how much blood could someone lose before it killed them?

“Koda” My mother touched my arm “Darling are you listening to me?”

I pulled my arm back and went on with my anger field pacing but every time I passed my brother I got angrier until finally I exploded.

“ARE YOU JUST GOING TO F*CKING SIT THERE DOING NOTHING?!”

He ignored me so I shoved him, I don’t know why I was so angry at him, I couldn’t find the reason behind it but it made me feel better to shove him.

Jaxson growled as he shot up and slammed me into the wall opposite us and our mother and Evet screamed.

“BOYS STOP NOW!” Our mother ordered but neither of us acknowledged her

“CALM DOWN!” Jaxson yelled in my face as he held my throat.

Jax and I were both Alpha’s, both strong and skilled but Jax had always been the best fighter and we knew it, I couldn’t win but I was beyond reason right now.

“GET OFF ME!”

I tried to shove him away and when that didn’t work, I punched him in the chest.

He cringed as I heard a break but I didn’t care that I’d broken one of his ribs.

Still, he kept a hold of my throat so I punched him again, this time in his stomach and he leant towards me a little and took a pained breath in.

“GET THE F*CK OFF ME!” I yelled again and tired once more to move but my twin didn’t let me go.

I struggled angrily, hitting him and trying to break free but he held me in place and took punch after punch until finally I felt all the anger leave my system and nothing was left but exhaustion and I slumped back and dropped my hand.

Jax finally let me go and I fell to the floor and started crying, I hadn’t cried in decades and it felt foreign and strange to me but I couldn’t stop it, the tears just flowed.

My brother squatted in front of me and his arms wound around my shoulders as he pressed his head against mine and I started hearing his own cries of agony.

“She can’t die” I said through the tears “She can’t leave us”

Jax didn’t say anything, we just cried ourselves dry before Jax moved and sat by my side with one arm still around my shoulders and he leaned his head back and looked at the ceiling and fell silent once again.

It was as if he was trying to block out the pain again and forced himself to shut it off

Evet and our mother sat down beside us and if it wasn’t such a serious situation, I would have smiled at my mother, she hadn’t sat on the ground since she’d become Queen over a hundred years ago.

My mother shocked me further by stoking my hair in comfort, she’d never been the affectionate one, it never bothered me or Jax but I was surprised by it now.
