“Keep dreaming”
“Maddie smells the best” Kodas rubbed his face into my hair, and I smiled
“Can I ask you a serious question”
“No” Koda pouted “No serious talks in bed”
Jax laughed again, and hit Koda on the back of the head “Shut up, dork, what do you want to talk about sweetheart?”
“Um.. I just wanted to ask about the fight. We spoke about today”
“What fight?” Koda asked.
“Grandmother told her about the heirs 21st birthday fights”
Koda growled, and his grip tightened around me “I swear, that women is so damn frustrating”
“Anyway” Jax looked down at me “What’s on your mind?”
“Well, because my heat is due soon, I’ve been thinking about our children today” I told them “And, I… are you going to make our children fight?”
“No” Jax answered.
“Absolutely not” Koda added, and kissed my head.
“You don’t have to worry, sweetheart” Jax assured me, and I relaxed “When we take over, there will be a lot we are changing, we promise, our children will be safe”
“I don’t want my children to grow up knowing pain like I did, even if they are Phoenix’s”
“They won’t baby” Koda told me “We’ll keep them safe, we’ll keep you all safe”
“So..” Jax ran his fingers through my hair “You’ve been thinking about our children a lot today?”
“Don’t even try it” I warned him, and pushed his smug face “We spoke about this, it’s not the right time”
“Is any time, the right time?” Koda asked “You never really know if it’s right, until you have children”
“Good night, Alpha’s!” I said firmly.
They both laughed softly, but let it go.
“Next heat then” Jax smiled, and closed his eyes.
I closed my eyes, and breathed in their delicious scents, as I drifted off.
DREAM/VISION – UNKNOWN POV
Madelyn was standing in the cold woods, in the middle of the night, all the trees were dead and creaking in the soft wind. In the middle of a clearing was a white crib sitting in the middle of all the burnt trees.
Slowly, Maddie approached the crib, and looked down, to find two small baby boys, one with dark black hair, and one with white. She looked at the beautiful boys in awe, but when she reached out to touch them, the wind picked up, and dead leaves, and dirt began to swirl around Madelyn.
She shut her eyes tightly to protect them, and shielded her face. When she felt the wind finally die down, she cautiously opened her eyes and found herself sitting on a blanket with Koda, and there was blood all around them, and a bloodied dagger lying discarded beside them, on the ground. Koda was holding his chest, as blood flowed down between his fingers.
“MADELYN!” Jaxson’s voice echoed through the garden, surrounding them, while Koda reached out his other hand and touched Maddie’s face.
Madelyn pulled back, looking unnerved by her dying mate, who fell back onto the wet blanket.
Strong hands grabbed Madelyn’s shoulders and ripped her around, but the dream shifted again with her movements.
Madelyn now found herself standing in a screaming crowd, getting jostled by the running pack member, as fireworks erupted over head. The twins were fighting nearby while one of Maddie’s guards grabbed her, and tried to pull her to safety, but the guard was thrown backwards by an invisible force.
Maddie spun around, to see Alpha Troy rushing at her. She screamed in fear, and started fighting him, but he was too strong, and a far more skilled fighter. He gained the upper hand quickly, and I knocked her down. She screamed again, as he raised his fist to strike her, one last time, to knock her out.
END OF DREAM/VISION
I woke up screaming, my entire body was covered in sweat, and both my mates were sitting up, Jax was shaking me, and they were both calling my name. They must have been trying to wake me up, but I had been so deep in the vision, that they couldn’t reach me.
I was shaking terribly as I came around, and I stopped screaming, as my senses came back to me.
“Baby?” Koda’s voice shook, as he pulled me up into his arms.
His touch helped, but then I remembered he had been stabbed. I pushed him back and touched his chest.
“What’s wrong, what are you looking for?”
I burst into tears, my heart was racing hard, but I managed to touch each of the twin’s temples, and transferred everything I’d just seen.
They were both frozen, for a few seconds while I tried to catch my breath.
“You don’t have to worry sweetheart” Jax kissed my head “Nothing will happen to Koda, I promise, it was just a bad dream”
“It wasn’t” I argued, and sat back, wiping my cheeks “They were visions, I don’t understand why I didn’t help him, someone stabbed him, but I was just sitting there”
“Baby, it will be okay, please, don’t worry about me” Koda took my face in his hands “Visions aren’t set in stone, we can change things, and it may not have been literal, I was stabbed in the heart, maybe it’s just a representation of being heartbroken or something, maybe we have a bad argument or something”
“No” I shook my head “Please, you have to take this serious”
“We will” Jax ran his hand up and down my back to comfort me “But, what we need to worry about is Troy, I think his attempt will happen at the festival. We’re having fireworks there, we need to focus on that now”
“She’s not going to the festival” Koda looked at his brother, who nodded “We’ll have to talk to mom and dad, we’ll need to double the guards”
“We need to set a trap”
“STOP IT!” I shouted, how could they ignore the most important part of the vision “My stupid attempted abduction isn’t important, Koda’s life is important”
Jax quickly hugged me, and pressed his face into my hair “Sweetheart, please calm down” He pleaded “I won’t let anything happen to my brother, please trust me, we’ll keep him safe, and we’ll come up with a plan to help him, but right now, we have to worry what we can control, which is the festival”
“Let’s talk about this tomorrow” Koda said firmly, and I knew that they were just worried about upsetting me more”
“I want to learn to fight” I told them quickly, before they could fully shut this talk down “I was useless in that vision, I couldn’t fight back”
“You don’t need to fight back” Jax told me “We will keep you safe”
“No, I want to help, and you said I could start training with a trainer, I want to start tomorrow” I told them “Koda’s training tomorrow, right? I want to go with you”
“Sweetheart, your heat could start any second, I don’t want you going with Koda to the training center until it’s over”
“No, I want to go, I want to learn to fight, please”
