“Good evening, how’s my favorite cousin?”
“I’m fabulous, thank you” Cole answered before Evet could, causing Madelyn to laugh.
“You wish you had my genes” I laughed, as I pulled out a chair for Madelyn.
“And what about you, Luna?” Cole asked as I sat down “When are you going to be sharing the Princes’s genes”
“When that becomes your business, I’ll let you know” Madelyn commented, and lifted the menu in front of her.
“You know, I think I like her more and more as time goes by” Evet smiled “It really is so wonderful having another female in the family”
“Is there anything you like sweetheart?”
“I’ve already ordered” Cole laughed.
“Keep it up Cole, and I’ll have you over seeing the children’s fight training”
“I’ll behave” He said quickly.
“The children do fight training?” Madelyn asked.
“Yes”
“What age did you and Koda start fighting?”
“Age 5” I told her “But that was just myself and Cody, the others start at 10”
“So, our children will start fighting that young?”
“Our twins will” I gently took her chin in my hand “Don’t worry about it, we’ll talk about all of this in private, when Cody’s home”
“Okay” She answered, and went back to the menu.
I couldn’t help but remember our fight training. Koda hated it, and it took him years to improve his skills, and I started to worry about him going after Troy.
“Jax” Madelyn touched my arm “Did you hear me?”
“Sorry sweetheart, I was just thinking, what did you say?”
“Is something wrong?” She asked nervously “Were you talking with Cody, has something happened to him?”
“Easy, calm down” I cupped her face in my hands “I’m sure Koda’s fine, I really was just thinking, what were you saying”
“I just asked if you’d picked what you want to eat?”
“Oh, yes” I gave her a quick kiss and called over the waiter.
After we ordered, Evet moved closer to Madelyn “So” She smiled and took Madelyn’s hand, making her look a little uncomfortable “Let me see his ring!” She gushed and held up her hand “I haven’t had a chance to talk to you about the wedding, what with the attack and funeral, but would you look at this beauty, I can’t wait, have you picked a date? Are you going to do the wedding before the coronation? Are you going”
“Evet would you take a breath” Cole laughed “Let the girl answer the first million questions before you pile on”
“We haven’t discussed the wedding anyway” I answered for Madelyn, and took her hand out of Evets.
I noticed Madelyn relax a little, and I kissed her hands in comfort.
“What do you mean you have talked about it?!” Evet seemed outraged by the very idea “I’ve had my wedding planned since I was 9, surly Maddie has some idea of what she wants?”
Everyone looked at my mate, who gulped nervously and shook her head “I never let myself think about anything like that while I was growing up, I don’t want to talk about this anymore”
Luckily the waiter chose that moment to bring our drinks.
“Your majesty” He offered me the drinks
I took both glasses from the waiter, and took a sip of my girl’s drink, before placing it in front of her?
“Are you going to taste test her food too?” Evet joked, but I looked at her blankly.
“Of course I am” I answered, and everyone at the table looked at me as if I were crazy.
“So, I heard you went skiing today” Evet changed the subject.
“Yes, it was so much fun” Madelyn’s face light up, and I relaxed and enjoyed the evening.
We were having a wonderful time, and I was confident that Madelyn wasn’t worrying about Cody, but of course, our good time couldn’t continue.
I smelt Ezra’s disgusting scent, and turned to see him walking straight over to us with a red-haired Beta.
“Hello Alpha” He said loudly, as he came over to our table.
“P*ss off Ezra, I’m not in the mood this evening, go be a waste of space somewhere else”
“Don’t be so aggressive, Alpha, I just wanted to say hello, it would be a great rudeness not to greet my Prince and his Luna” Ezra said with false sweetness “I’d hate to go back to prison for disrespecting her again”
“Fine” I glared at him, as he leaned over the railing.
“Greetings, your majesty” Ezra smiled and bowed to Madelyn “You are looking exquisite this evening”
“Thank you” She smiled back politely, though I could see in her eyes that she was disgusted by his proximity. My girl was a great judge of character.
“There, you’ve greeted your Luna, no p*ss off” I snarled, my hand gripping the cup.
“I heard rumours that Alpha Koda is visiting another pack” Ezra went on, still leaning close to us “Such strange timing, with everything that’s going on, and only just finding his mate, I wonder why he’d choose now of all times to leave”
“Koda understands that his duty has to come first, and he’s needed elsewhere” Evet smiled, and took a sip of her drink.
“Yes, Alpha Koda’s always put his duty first” Ezra smirked at me “Unlike others”
“I’d like to dance” Madelyn stood up, and offered me her hand “Please excuse us..um… it was Enzo, right?”
“Ezra” He corrected, and looking very annoyed.
“Of course, my apologies, goodbye”
“Enjoy your evening, Luna”
She smiled and led the way to the dance floor, but instead of stopping, she continued to pull me towards the exit “You should let the others know we’re leaving” She told me, as we left.
I laughed, and pulled her closer, but did as she instructed, and let Cole and Evet know we were going home.
