“How dare you accuse me of being up to something” She said and brushed her long hair behind her shoulder “Anyway, I’m off to go see Maddie”
“Leave her alone, she’s studying”
“Goodbye, Alpha” Was all she said, and went down the hallway towards my girls office, with her maid smiling behind her.
‘Lucy, what’s she up to?’ I greeted her as she passed me a coffee “Thanks”
“I’m not entirely sure” She looked after my cousin “She just asked me some random questions about flowers, and colors you and Alpha Cody like, and then you showed up”
“She’s so weird” I commented “Anyway, come in, we have to talk”
I went in and sat at my desk, frowning when I noticed that some papers, that were on Koda’s desk yesterday, were suddenly on mine. The jerk, had left his cr*p for me.
“Still think it’s great to be a twin?” Knox laughed, as he curled up.
“Shut up, or I’ll let you have control, and you can work all day”
“Shh, sleeping” He responded, and closed his eyes.
“So, Lucy, we haven’t really had a chance to talk about everything you found out about Luna Morgan”
Lucy sat down and crossed her legs “There’s not much to tell really” She shrugged “I went to her old pack, and the new Alpha, allowed me to speak with everyone, but no one had anything to say, everyone loved her, and were devastated by her death, and no one had any clue about the abuse, Luna Madelyn went through”
“Did she own any property outside the pack?”
“Yes” Lucy pulled out her phone, and tapped on something, before looking back at me “She was born into the Werrington Pack. Her father was an Alpha. His son, Alpha Issac, runs things now, so I went there to speak with him. She still has a home in the woods, but it was empty”
“Send out a patrol to watch over it, Fenrir might know about it because of Troy” I said thoughtfully “He may hide out there”
“Okay”
“What’s her family like?” I pressed for more information. If they were a threat to Madelyn, we’d need to take care of them sooner rather than later.
“Luna Morgan had two sisters and one brother” She read her notes on her phone “Beta Alana, who’s mated to her brother’s head Beta, Beta Fancis, and a younger sister, Chelsea, who’s mated to a Lycan Beta, Beta Leo, and they live in the Balto pack, they were all heart broken from their sisters death, but none of them had a bad word to say about Luna Maddie, although, they wouldn’t bad mouth her to me now would they”
“Keep an eye on them too”
“I’ll send out spy’s”
“Good”
“I’ll write up a report of all the information I found out” She stood up and put her phone into her pocket “Now” She touched the pile of papers, Koda had moved onto my desk “You need to get through these contracts, they are for the construction of the tower that was blown up, the cleanup is finished, and the King wants the construction to get underway”
“Wonderful” I glared at the papers “Thanks”
“I’ll be in my office if you need anything, Alpha” She smiled, and exited quickly, while I pulled off my jacket and got to work.
A few hours later, I needed a break, and it was lunchtime, so I grabbed my jacket, and slipped it on, as I headed down to Madelyn’s office, but when I arrived, her guards informed me, that she had gone out earlier, and hadn’t returned.
“Madelyn, where are you?” I linked her “I came to take you to lunch, but you’re not in your office”
“Evet dragged me away, to do wedding planning with your mother, and grandmother” She answered, sounding annoyed.
“Oh, I see” I tried not to laugh at her grumpy tone “I asked you to inform me if you were with my grandmother”
“I’m sorry, I forgot”
“Okay” I said, and left her office “Well, in that case, I’ll have lunch with my father. I needed to speak with him about the coronation anyway”
“What, why can’t you join us?” She said quickly “There’s still time, we have only just arrived at the restaurant, and it’s your wedding too. Why am I the only one who has to go through this?”
“Sorry, sweetheart, the link is cutting out” I laughed “We’ll talk again later”
“JAXSON!” She shouted “YOU JUST WAIT, UNTIL”
I quickly cut the link, and laughed harder, as I changed direction and went to my father’s office instead, where he was talking with Ryker.
“Your majesty” I bowed, when I entered his office.
“Jaxson” He acknowledged me, before turning back to Ryker “I don’t care what their issues are, if they’re not at that meeting tomorrow with the information I requested, then they will no longer get our support”
“What’s going on?”
“Oh, the usual” Ryker said with a sigh “The werewolves are pissed that we’re not including them in the preparations for the war”
“They don’t like that I’m not keeping them updated, but then deal with it” He complained “They either step in line, or I’ll take it as a declaration that they’ve chosen my brother, Ryker, go pass on my message”
“On it”
“So, what do you want Jaxson, I’m not in the mood for a fight”
“I just thought we could go to lunch and talk about the coronation”
“I just said I wasn’t in the mood to fight”
“Who said anything about fighting?” I asked innocently “I said, talk, and we have to eat”
“Fine” He sighed “But”
“Oh, excuse me” I cut him off “Koda’s linking me”
While I spoke with Koda and Madelyn, who he pulled into the link, I walked with my father to his private dining room, in the pack’s cafeteria.
“What does your brother say?” My father asked, as we sat.
“Nothing yet, the girl hasn’t let her house” I answered, as waiters came in, pulling trays of food with them “Thank you, leave the trays, we’ll serve ourselves”
“Yes, Alpha” One of the girls said, as she blushed at me.
“Be careful with that” My father warned, as he started plating his lunch.
“Careful with what?”
“Being to polite with the females in the pack” He warned “Your mate will not take it well, why do you think I don’t speak kindly to any of them, it’s to protect them from your mother’s rath”
“You don’t speak kindly to anyone”
“Yes, Jaxson, I’m a horrible, terrible monster” He rolled his eyes “How long are you planning on milking that delusion”
