“Madelyn” It read “You are in danger, Fenrir has sent someone into your life to spy on you. Do not trust anyone besides your mates, I am doing my best to find out who it is, and I will contact you again when I have more information. I wish I could tell you this in person, but I’m still not allowed, I am counting down the days until we can be connected… Your Keeper”
I stood staring at the note, it really is Noland.
“We don’t know that” Ava said reasonably “He was picking up our books, maybe he saw the note on the ground, and just slipped it back into the book, it could be Evelyn, she gave us the books in the first place, or Molly, she held them at one point”
“Neither of the women give me a strange feeling” I argued “We have to try and find out for sure, and what about his warning, who do you think the spy could be?”
“We have to tell the twins” Ava told me “They can interrogate everyone and find out”
“And hurt the innocent in the process, we have”
There was a knock on the door, cutting off our conversation, and I quickly folded the note, and tucked it into the top of my dress, in my bra.
“Yes” I turned towards the door.
Molly pushed the door open a little “Professor Evelyn is here for your lesson, is she allowed to come in?”
I took a breath, and plastered my face with a fake smile “Of course, thank you, Molly”
I frowned suspiciously, when she turned and started talking to Evelyn. Was Molly the spy? No, she couldn’t be, Evet hired her at random.
“Maybe she was recruited after she came to work for us” Ava suggested, as Evelyn walked in holding a new pile of books.
“Hello Luna, good morning”
“Morning’ I smiled politely.
“Maybe it’s Evelyn, she knew our mother, which meant, she knew Fenrir” I said to Ava, as Evelyn placed her items on the desk.
“So, there’s a change to our curriculum today, we’re working on etiquette” She informed me “The Queen mother, has requested it”
“Did she, now?” I rolled my eyes, and crossed my arms.
“She was very insistent” Evelyn smiled at me.
“Did my mother have to learn this kind of thing?”
Evelyn froze for a split second, before nodding “Yes”
“What about Prince Fenrir?”
Again, she paused “I wouldn’t know, I didn’t see him a lot, growing up, but as a Prince, I’m sure he was taught these things”
“Do you think he’s as evil as everyone says he is?”
Evelyn looked at me with a troubled glint in her eyes “It’s not for me to decide” She took a breath “Shall we begin?”
“Okay”
We worked for hours, teaching me about dinner etiquette and what cutlery I was meant to use for each meal. Something I was doing incorrectly this entire time. Fortunately, the twins never said anything, either they didn’t care or didn’t want to embarrass me.
We then moved on to the hierarchy, both for private functions and for being in the public. It was very clear, I was doing everything wrong. No wonder Kaiya wanted me to start learning this. Even holding the twin’s hands in public was frowned upon.
I kept trying to bring up my mother and Fenrir, but Evelyn continued to be evasive, or just change the subject all together, so I gave up after an hour.
When my lesson finished, I decided to go find my mates, to see if they wanted to have lunch together. I was a little nervous to see them, because I knew they’d want to talk about the necklace, but I couldn’t put it off forever, so I figured I’d get it over with.
I was walking to the twins office with Molly, when I saw Beta Cole walking into his own office, and I froze in horror. I knew that Jax had cut him, but I didn’t know that the doctors hadn’t fixed it. Beta Cole had a massive scar down the side of his face, and it was all my fault.
I rushed towards him, as he closed his office door, but I pushed it open, and walked past his guards. Beta Cole, growled, and turned around, but when he saw me, he fell silent.
“Forgive me, Luna” He said quickly, when he noticed how scared I was by his reaction “I didn’t realize it was you, I thought someone was barging into my office, did you need something?”
“Why didn’t the healers fix your wound?”
Beta Cole smiled sympathetically at me, as he sat down on his desk chair “I hurt you, I should wear the consequences of that act”
“But it was an accident” I pointed out “Jax shouldn’t have hurt you in the first place”
“You don’t have to feel bad, Luna” He told me gently “I know you grew up with werewolves, but Lycan’s wear their punishments”
“That’s just stupid!” I declared.
“No, it isn’t” I heard Jaxson’s voice from the doorway, and I spun around to see him glaring at us “Why are you in here?”
“I was coming to see you and Koda for lunch, but I saw Beta Coles face, and had to come help him”
“Help him?” Jax asked in confusion, as I looked around for a plant or anything I could us.
“I can heal silver injuries in others” I told him “I just can’t heal myself for some reason”
“I don’t care, you’re not healing him” Jax’s voice rose slightly “He hurt you, he’s lucky all I did was cut up his face”
“You’re being crazy” I snapped “I know you feel bad for what you did, I’m healing him”
“No, you’re not!” Jax shouted, and started walking towards me, but I held up my hand, and used my wind to keep him at bay “MADELYN, ENOUGH!”
I ignored my mate, and walked over to Cole, but he looked a little nervous, and tried to move away from me.
“Luna, the Alpha’s said no” Cole argued, but I wasn’t having any of this.
“SIT DOWN!” I surprised myself, by shouting at him “THAT’S AN ORDER!”
Beta Cole looked beyond shocked, and stopped moving, and I placed my hand over his injury, and began to heal him.
“MADELYN!” Jax shouted again “IF YOU DON’T STOP, I SWEAR!”
“What’s going on?” I heard Koda shout breathlessly as he came to the door “Maddie, what are you doing?”
When the cut was completely healed, I pulled back, and stopped the wind, and Jax stumbled forward.
“HOW DARE YOU GO AGAINST ME, MADELYN”
“I DID THE RIGHT THING AND YOU KNOW IT!”
“IT’S NOT UP TO YOU TO DECIDE WHAT THAT IS!” He shouted again “HE F*CKING HURT YOU!”
“Jax, calm to hell down” Koda quickly stepped around his brother, and pulled me behind his back, but this only infuriated Jax more.
