Two more guards stood by the front door, and stepped forward to block my entry.
“Luna, this is unacceptable” The girl told me “You have to go back, otherwise we’ll be forced to”
“SHUT UP!” I screamed and again, threw up my hands, and sent them backwards onto their backsides. I then shoved the front door open and walked into a large lobby area with a massive staircase leading to the second floor.
“KAIYA!” I screamed.
“Luna, please” A guard shouted from the doorway “You can’t do this, it’s against the law, I don’t want to arrest you!”
“KAIYA, GET OUT HERE, NOW!”
“Maddie!” Koda’s voice echoed in my mind “Rick just linked us, what ever you’re doing, please stop, you cannot”
I cut the link and looked around the lobby “KAIYA!”
“Oh, calm down Madelyn” I heard Kaiya’s voice to my right “Stop being so dramatic and making a scene”
“I WANT TO TALK TO YOU!”
“Yes, I see that” She said lazily “But I’m not taking visitors. Go home before I have you punished for your disgraceful behavior”
“Madelyn!” Jaxson linked me, but I cut the link with him too.
“I AM NOT LEAVING!” I shouted “YOU ARE GOING TO ANSWER MY QUESTIONS!”
“Queen Kaiya, should I arrest the Luna?” The guard asked nervously.
“I’d like to see you try!” I shouted, as I raised my hand and lit it on fire “Touch me, and I will burn you to death”
“Leave us” Kaiya waved her hand dismissively “It appears, our young foolish Luna, wants to talk to me”
“Yes, mam” The guards bowed, and shut the door.
“I WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOU DID TO MY MOTHER!”
“Madelyn stop yelling and extinguish that flame” Kaiya exhaled “June” She said to a young lady standing close by “Bring some tea to my sitting room” She started walking down the hallway, before turning back to me “Are you coming or not? I thought you wanted to talk?”
I growled angrily, but followed after her into a large sitting room, with two large comfortable looking sofa’s on either side of the wooden coffee table.
There were several family portraits around the room, some people I knew, the twins, the King, and Evet, but also several people I’d never seen before.
A fireplace was burning some sweet-smelling wood, and the room was very warm and cozy.
“Well sit down” Kaiya gestured to the seat opposite her “I thought you had questions?”
“You lied and said you didn’t know my mother was alive” I snapped “But it’s just been brought to my attention that she came to visit you while she was pregnant with me!”
“Then that person is a liar” She said calmly and leaned against the armrest of the sofa.
“STOP LYING TO ME!” I shouted “I KNOW YOU SAW HER, DID YOU KILL HER!?”
“No” She answered, but did elaborate, which infuriated me.
“WHY ARE YOU LYING!?”
“Why are you still yelling?” She shot back “I see all those etiquette lessons were wasted on you, sit down Madelyn, your yelling does not frighten me”
I exhaled angrily and sat down with my arms crossed.
“Sometimes, I see so much of your mother in you” She shook her head “She was a defiant and rude brat too”
“defiant?” I snapped “Why? Because she didn’t want to be used for her power and give King Theo her golden thread to control her?”
The Queen mother smiled “Did it ever occur to you that a Phoenix needs someone to control them?” She asked “They’re dangerous. Look at what you just did because you lost your temper, you hurt the guards, and think you’re above the law because you have the power not to be stopped”
“This was different!” I snapped, though now that I was cooling down, I was feeling guilty for what I’d done to the guards, I hadn’t meant to hurt them “You shouldn’t have denied me entry”
“Why should I allow you into my home just because you want to come in?” She asked “How entitled you’ve become”
“Just cut the cr*p!” I snapped at her “I want to know what you did to my mother!”
“I told you, I don’t know what happened to her!” She told me firmly “The last time I saw her, was her funeral after Theo killed her, who told you I’d spoken to her while she was pregnant?”
“My Keeper”
“Your Keeper?” She sounded interested for the first time “That’s not possible, your Keeper won’t contact you until you’ve gone through your molt, the Queen would skin him alive, he wouldn’t go against her”
“You”
There was a loud commotion outside, and I exhaled angrily again, when I heard the front door burst open and the twins entered.
“MADELYN!” Jaxson shouted, and then a few seconds later, they came into the sitting room, wearing pants.
“No, please, come on in” Kaiya glared at them “Do any of you understand what an invitation is?!”
“Grandmother, we’re very sorry for Maddie’s behavior” Koda quickly bowed at her feet “Please forgive her, she was upset with us, and she lost control of her temper”
“I DON’T NEED YOU TO DEFEND ME!”
“MADELYN SHUT UP!” Jaxson shouted “DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT YOU’VE DONE?!”
MADELYN’S POV
“DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT YOU’VE DONE?!”
Jax looked guilty for yelling at me, and that he regretted his actions instantly and there was panic in his eyes, but I cringed back, and the guilt in his face intensified.
“I’m sorry” He reached for me “I didn’t mean to yell, you just scared me and I reacted, Madelyn, you cannot do this!”
One of the Queen mothers guards walked in holding a large tray with tea and biscuits, and placed them down on the coffee table.
“Should I bring more cups, your majesty?”
“No, leave us and shut the door”
“Yes, your majesty”
“Take your mate home, and we will forget this situation ever happened”
