Bryan and Aubrey exit the elevator first and we head for the ballroom on the second floor. It is basically the whole floor with 8-foot-wide balconies at about every twenty-five to thirty feet so people can step out when they get overheated or have a place for a private conversation. It matches the balconies on the other floors, so the building is symmetrical and uniform as you look at it. There is a bar at the far end of the stage, and a large floor for dancing, or can be used to serve about 300 people in a seated event. There are 3 large chandeliers in the ceiling. The one in the middle is the largest one with the other the two flanking it smaller versions of it but they are the same classic shape and they cast the room in a lovely glow.
Everyone is dressed in evening attire, and they all look great. A rainbow of colors is showing in the ballroom, with the ladies in their evening gowns.
I follow Bryan and Aubrey, up to the front row and sit on the 4th seat down so Nicole can sit next to her parents and Jessica next to me. I am a little nervous right now, Jessica will not be joining us on stage tonight, as she is a human. Jessica cannot join unless she marries into the pack, but Alpha Andrew had left instructions for her to be left alone and to be considered under the Gammas protection as a “bonus daughter”.
I look over to see Bree and Dixon sitting across the aisle from us and wave over to them. Alpha Andrew and Luna Monica are already on the stage and are about to start the ceremony in a few minutes.
I feel a hand on my shoulder and look behind me to see my father Alpha Harris, Luna Joy, and my brothers Tyler and Tate coming up to sit on the row behind us. I was glad that they were able to come to the ceremony and that my father was kind enough to even allow me to stay here, just for me to feel safe. I know that I would be safe at their pack as well, but I love Alpha Andrew and Luna Monica and their children. I love Mason and Brax too, and I trust them to get me trained properly. It seemed like I have known them all for a lot longer. but it had only really been a little over 24 hours. They have literally done so much for me in this short amount of time, way more than my old pack had ever done in 17 and a half years of me being there. I was certain that the Moon Goddess wanted me here for a reason, and I was not willing to leave voluntarily. Ivory was right, my life has changed and in the very best way possible, I don’t know how she knew. But I am so glad that she was correct.
The ceremony went smoothly, and Bryan was now Gamma of the Stone Moon pack. I know he will do a great job. We get in line to get our food, as the ballroom is set up from the ceremony to the tables being set up for dining. There are about 15 people getting the tables put out, in five sets of a 3-man team. Two teams setting up the tables and chairs and the other team setting tables, and they are moving quickly. No one is having to wait for a seat. I decide to sit with my father, Luna Joy, and brothers at their table so I can talk to them more as I know that they are leaving tomorrow.
I have been sitting with my family for over an hour asking and answering questions as we think of them. I have learned a lot about my new family in a short amount of time.
I ask Tyler “What grade are you and Tate in?”
Tyler replies “Actually Tate and I are both Seniors this year. We will both be graduating in May. What grade are you in?”
“I will be graduating in May too, along with Nicole, Jessica, and Bree,” I tell them.
I look to my left as Dixon drops into the chair next to me and smiles at me. I smile back at him and ask him, “What grade are you in Dixon?”
Dixon tells me “I am a Junior this year, I will graduate next year”.
“Dixon, hey have you seen Bree. I need to give her this necklace, it was accidentally put into my dress bag, but I didn’t buy it, I guess it was just put in the wrong bag by mistake and I wanted to make sure she gets it. It doesn’t belong to Nicole or Jessica. I already checked with them.”
“No Jade, that is your necklace. I got it for you at the mall today as a birthday present. Bree and I both felt bad for you when you got here yesterday and had so little. You are so sweet, and I just wanted to get you a gift. You needed a positive and when I saw it, it reminded me of you with the jade pieces being so much like your eye color. And because your birthday was totally ruined by that jerk and your aunt. I just wanted to get you something nice. I put it in your dress bag so you would find it tonight when you got ready. Jade has a lot of meaning to it. It is a hardy and beautiful stone, and it is a symbol of harmony, infinity, and protection. So, I hope it provides you a lot of protection Jade” Dixon tells me.
