Life’s Spiced Up with Some Werewolf Reads

Chapter 3 – Shadowed Bond with Her Alpha

“Yes again, you think I do this sh*t on purpose LeeAca?” She snaps at me.

I pull out my necklace and put it on. Laura and Jona see what I did and look at me with pity. “It might be different this time Ace.” Laura says. And I just stare at her then open the door to get out.

“It isn’t a good Ace. Fen says. What are you talking about, we have the necklace, what more do we need. We will know who it is and we will be able to avoid them till the time is right to leave.” I say back.

“I don’t know Ace, this feels different, stronger. I don’t know if we can handle another rejection, not when it already feels this strong and we aren’t even in the room together yet.” She says

“Like I said it will be okay. We will know, but he won’t know for sure. He won’t be able to smell us Fen. We will be okay.” I say as we enter the big ball room. We walk past a lot of people and a lot of the unmated wolves are staring at me. I feel like kicking their teeth in. I grit as I walk farther into the room. I stop at the check in and a tall man in an all black suit stares down at me.

“Name and pack?” He grits out. I stare at him and act shy.

“Um.. LeeAca Petrovich of the Green River Pack.” He looks me up and down then grunts and hands me some place cards. I thank him and walk away. I get back to our pack and hand the cards to Jona so he can disperse them and figure everything out.

“I am going to get something to drink. Would you guys like anything?” I ask Jona and Laura.”Whiskey and red wine Laura answers for both of them.” I nod then head to the bar on the side of the room, next to the entrance to the ballroom. I ordered their drinks and a smoked whiskey for me. As I am waiting for drinks I take the opportunity to gather intel.

There are a few girls in the corner giggling and talking about the Alpha King hoping that they will be his Mate, or at least choose them. On the opposite side of the bar there is a boy around 18 nervously shaking his knee and he stares across the room. I look to see where he is staring and I see it is a girl, maybe 18, with her arm linked with another man.

“Poor fool probably thinks his mate is already mated. Haha little does he know that is her cousin.” Fen says.

“I know.” I reply. The man and the girl share a small scent that most wouldn’t be able to catch. I start to walk up to the boy.

“Hi.” I said to him.

He glances at me then back at the girl. “Oh um hi.” He says back after stealing another glance at the girl. I feel his nervousness to go up to her, his anger for her being with another and not waiting for him, his disappointment, his love, and his jealousy. I feel it all.

“What is your name?” I ask as the bartender brings the kid his drink. “Isaiah.” He answers back. Taking another glance and the girl. “Well Isaiah, I just wanted to tell you that you need to go save your mate. She looks like she is about to get eaten by the big bad wolves.” I say. And he just looks at me.

“What? How did you know?” He asks, clearly confused.

“Empath, Isaiah. And the way you are staring at her is also an indicator.” I give him a slight smile as the bartender comes over with my drinks. I grab them then look at Isaiah.

“That is her cousin, he is escorting her and does not notice she has found her mate. She is very nervous, so go and help her..” I say and walk back to Jona and Laura. I hand them their drink and see Isaiah has left the bar and went up to the girl. Her cousin has let her go and is keeping an eye out while the two are talking. I smile and take a sip of my drink.

“I hate when you are nice to people. That makes us seem weak.” Fen all but spits.

“I am nice to those who need help other than that I stay away. Plus his mood was so high I could feel it from here.” I replied back to her. She rolls her eyes the retreat back but still paces.

“Lee. Lee!” I feel a pinch on my arm and scowl. I look up to see my sister, Maleena, who has arrived with my father and brother, Sebastian, looking at me.

I was going to help Maleena get ready, but she insisted she would with her friends and then ride with the rest of the pack. Then Laura stole me and insisted I get ready with her.

Maleena is 17, while I’m 24 and Sebastian is 25. Mom died when Maleena was 9 and I have raised her since. Maleena and Sebastion got our mother’s dirty blond hair and both of our parent’s blue eyes. I got our fathers black hair and somehow ended up with green eyes. We all got their olive skin tone. Maleena got our mother’s height, standing at 5 foot 8 inches. While Sebastion got our fathers, standing at 6 foot 3 inches. I am in the middle at 5 foot 11 inches. Maleena got our father’s gift of electricity, while Sebastion and I got our mother’s gift of empathy. We can feel people’s emotions and if we are calm enough send them some calm energy to help mellow out their heightened emotions.

I looked at her and smiled. “You look gorgeous, my little sun.” I say. She smiles.

“Thank you. It’s time to go into the ballroom.” She says. I look around and see that everybody is staring to enter into the big double doors next to the bar. I nod and start walking towards the doors with the rest of the pack.

Maleena looks up at me with a curious gaze and asks “Why were you staring at that young couple?” I look back into her baby blues and pinch her cheek.

“Because I like seeing the aftermath of my help.” She rolled her eyes and took my arm. I feel her nervous energy and pat her arm with my other hand, focusing on giving her some peace to help calm her nerves. She looks up at me,

“Thanks but you didn’t have to do that.” She says.

“I know.” I reply with a small smile.

As we continue to the ballroom we find our seats. I look around and the place is huge. There are hundreds of round tables to accommodate all of the packs. Each pack brought their unmated females, and the families of the Alpha’s, Betas, and Gammas. The Delta’s stayed home to assume the pack’s safety for the next couple of days.

The room is white and gold, like the colors of the royal crest. Each table is clearly marked for each pack by the colors of the table runner. Our colors are dark purple and navy blue.

We all take a seat and everyone starts chatting. I listen in to different conversations. Most of the women and girls are talking about the King’s mate and how excited they are about the possibility of it being them. Other’s are catching up with old friends and some are talking about rouges. Once I heard two alpha’s conversations mention rogues. I zone in.

“I had an attack last week, there were about 20 of them trying to get into the borders. One said. The other chimed in after saying.
