“You just took me out within a minute, while still holding back not trying to hurt me. He can barely spare any other warriors. Don’t get me wrong he has been excelling, but not enough to spar with you without you taking it easy.” He says irritating me and Lucas.
“Just humor me. You need a break and I need to train.” I say walking back to the middle of the field taking a stance. Lucas does the same.
Unlike Garret and I, Lucas and I go at it right away. Both know each other’s strengths and weaknesses. We are normally brutal with each other and today is not any different. Lucas has excelled greatly in physical fighting, the only thing we work on now is weaponry and gift focus. If you train properly the gift of emotion can be used as a lie detector. There are other uses, but during our current training at night I focus on lie detection.
Dodging his frontal attack I kick the back of his knees so that he falls. He manages to catch me off guard and kick me back. I stumble and he gets back up. We go round and round, neither one of us giving in. I know he has dislocated his knee, but he has managed to dislocate my shoulder. We both have blood oozing from different places, particularly our faces. After 20 minutes he is getting tired and sloppy. I use this to my advantage. He goes to throw a punch and I grab his arm, swinging myself around so that I have my legs around his neck. We both fall to the ground, but I don’t let go. After some struggle he submits. I let go and lay there catching my breath. Lucas rolls over and lays there as well.
“Holy sh*t.” I hear and look to my right. I see Garret standing above me with water and a towel. I grab it at stand up. Wiping my face then washing it off with the water. I look over and Lucas has done the same. He limps over to me and takes my arm. He already knows what to do. I nod giving him the okay and he pulls as hard as he can. My arm pops back into place and he plops on the ground. I do the same thing with his leg, for his knee. Once we are done I look at Garret and his mouth is wide open with his eyes not moving.
“Good job Lucas. Go home and rest. I will see you tonight.” I say and he nods his head then turns to leave.
“Why does he hide that in training?” Garret asks me as we start to walk back to the castle.
“How do you think people would react if he suddenly shows up beating all of their as*es?” I ask, raising my eyebrow. I feel it split and blood starts to trickle down my face. I grab my towel and start to dab it off.
“True. But hot damn that was some serious stuff. I had the urge to stop it ten minutes in. You two were beating the living hell out of each other.” Garret says.
“That’s what my training is. It isn’t to be fancy and do a bunch of tricks. It is bettering yourself so that you can face an opponent and be ready to fight for an hour. Fast takedowns are good, but what happens when the enemy is of the same caliber as you and can last longer? You will die.” I say then shrug my shoulders.
I bid Garret adu and we headed to our rooms to clean up and get ready for dinner.
I walk into the dinning room and see everybody there. Looks like I am a little late. I take my seat and look around. Everybody is staring. Fen was able to heal the major wound I got from training, but I still have a split eyebrow and a black eye. I also know that my jaw is a bit swollen.
“Holy sh*t what happened to you?” I hear Amara say.
“Training.” I say and glance over at Garret who is sporting a swollen eye and bruised nose. I hear belly laughing form across from me and see Markus on the verge of tears.
“Oh my goddess! I can’t believe I got called for an emergency meeting! I wish I would have been there. Dude she broke your nose. Even I have a hard time bruising you.” Markus says while trying to calm down.
“Is it just me or does his laugh even sound like a chihuahua?” Fen pipes up and I burst out laughing. She is right. his laugh sounds like when a chihuahua half barks multiple times. Everyone turns to me now like I am the crazy one. Markus is still laughing and I can’t seem to stop because Fen is in my head mocking him. He starts to die down then I do as well. I started crying because I was laughing so hard.
“So. I take it training went well?” Alarick asks.
“Too well.” Garret grunts and takes a bite of his chicken.
“Why are you starting to train? You’ve been here for four months and you haven’t said anything about training.” Amara asks in an accusatory tone.
“The elder council has informed me that Friday they will be holding the Luna trials. I wanted to ensure LeeAca was ready for it.” Alarick answers for me and the girls gasp.
“Why didn’t they just do that to begin with?” Amara asks Alarick angrily.
“That was my question exactly.” Alarick answered with annoyance.
“Friday. As in the day after my birthday?” Maleena asks, looking at me. I smile and nod.
“Yes. Soo that means you better find your mate so I can threaten him properly before the trials.” I say answering her and she shakes her head. I can tell she is sad and disappointed, as well as worried, but she will be okay.
“OMG YOUR BIRTHDAY IS THURSDAY?! HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS I AM YOUR BEST FRIEND??!” Alena asks as she starts to vibrate with excitement.
“I don’t like my birthday. It is just another day. There is no need to get antsy about it.” Maleena says, trying to calm Alena down. Alena settles, but not before saying they will talk about it later.
“Is it fight till death?” Amara asks Alarick. He looks down and I can feel his guilt and worry.
“Yes.” I answer for him and before anyone can speak up I continue. “And it was my choice. Let’s not speak about it anymore. Okay?” I ask. And everybody nods their heads.
Other than the antics before dinner was served there was light conversation after. I could feel everyone’s emotions on high and it was starting to suffocate me, so as soon as I ate I excused myself and made my way to my apartment. I was sitting on the couch drawing when Maleena walked in.
“You left me alone with Alena. As soon as you left she started talking about my birthday. She told me while plopping down on the couch next to me. She looked at me sadly.
“Are you really doing the Luna challenge?” She asks sadly.
“Yes.” I answered her.
