Chapter 62 – Shadowed Bond with Her Alpha

“Is it really.” She paused. “Till death?”

“Yes it is.” I say and put my arm around her to bring her in for some comfort.

“Are you scared?” She asks and I have to think about it.

“I’m not scared of dying. I know that I will win.” I say hesitantly.

“But?” She asks sensing there is something else.

“I am nervous that people will find out who I am, what I am. I can’t have that.” I say shaking the thoughts away. Maleena sat up quickly and looked at me.

“But if you just remove that stupid necklace and tell the king you are his mate you wouldn’t have to do this!” She says hopefully and with bright eyes. I gently cup her face and look into her baby blues.

“You know I cannot do that Little Sun.” I say and her face falls. She slaps my hand away and jumps up from the couch. Her eyes are shining with unshed tears.

“Fine! You do what you want, like you always have! I won’t be there to watch you die because you are too scared to have a mate!” She yells and runs into her bedroom slamming the door.

I flinch and look at the time. It is 7:00. I sigh and go into my bedroom. I lay my sketchbook on my night stand and then lay down in bed. Before I knew it I was asleep.

I woke up in a silver cage just big enough for me to sit in. I could barely move and Fen was fighting to stay with me. She has gotten more immune to silver and wolfsbane since being here, but she still isn’t completely immune. I hear footsteps and put my head down. I know when to be good. I hear a child squealing and I look up and see my baby boy in the arms of a woman who is walking towards me.

“If you want to hold your little creature you need to do as you are told, dog.” She grits then spits on me and walks away. As soon as the woman walks away I hear more footsteps. More like stomps. I look down, the woman’s words are still ringing in my ears. Do as I am told. Do as I am told. Just then three men walk in. One opens the cage and grabs me by the hair, dragging me out. As soon and he gets me out the other two quickly put me in silver cuffs. They lead me to the room I dread most. After they get me on the table and strap me down, I see the doctor walk in with his nurses behind him. Even though I can’t see his smile, I see it in his eyes. I look away and see that there are a bunch of vials on a silver table. They are bright colors, almost glowing. He comes up to me and shakes his head.

“I need you weaker.” He says looking at the one of the nurses. She hands him a silver dagger dripping with liquid I can only assume is their version of wolfsbane. He cuts my arm and I start to scream. Yup this is their version of wolfsbane, it hurts worse, if I even thought that could be possible. He chuckles then takes the knife and stabs me in the thigh and leaves it there. I scream in agony as the silver and wolfsbane enter my system. I almost pass out, but before I do he gives me a shot of adrenaline to wake me. This goes on for what seems like hours. He then nods to the nurse and she bring him the blue vial. He takes out a needle and gets some of the blue stuff. I feel hands around my head and I am forced to look away. The next thing I know I feel the needle in the vein in my neck and whatever substance was in it fill my veins. Immediately I try to break free, my whole body started itching, it felt like my body was covered in fire ants and I couldn’t do anything about it.

I shot out of bed scratching my body. I felt like I had insects crawling over my body biting me. I quickly took a shower to get rid of the sensation. Once I got out of the shower and changed I looked at the clock. 11:00. I sighed and went to my computer to do some research. After an hour I left for the training grounds. Lucas was just walking up. He started to show up at 12 when he realized that I was normally here by that time. We walk in silence towards our lake spot and take a seat.

“How are you feeling from earlier?” I ask and he smiles a little.

“I’m tired and sore, but Burke healed my knee and face first.” He says, chuckling a little. I smiled.

“Good. Are you ready?” I ask.

“As I’ll ever be.” He responds and I nod. We have been working on getting truth from emotions. You are able to tell if a person is lying by the way their emotions flicker. You can also guess something and if they have a reaction to it go with it. During interrogation if you need information you can start listing random things and when you feel that slight emotion you go with it till you have enough to make a story up. Once you make the story up, you can change it based on their reactions. I have been teaching him little techniques to help, reading him to show him how it is done, but tonight is his first night trying it. If he can do it correctly with me, then he can read anybody. Fen and I trust him completely and if he is going to help me I need him to be able to do everything I can.

“Mother. Father. Brother. Sister. Mate. Wolf. Pack. Royal.” He stops and looks at me.

“Mate.” He says again. I do nothing, just stare at him the whole time.

“Green River. Emerald Bay. Blue Lightning. Rogue. Royal. Red Rose. Saphire Moon. Scarlet Moon. Warrior Tree. Horizon. Piney Hills.” He continues with the 7 more packs.

“Pack member. Delta. Gamma. Beta. Alpha.” He stops listing ranks.

“Rejected. Dead. Second chance.” He says. I still say nothing. He seems confused. He starts listing the packs again, but only certain ones.

“Blue Lightning. Rogue. Royal. Red Rose. Warrior Tree. Horizon. Whispering Wind. Phoenix.” He stops, then repeats it again.

“Packmember, Delta, Gamma, Beta, Alpha.” He repeats and his face contorts. He is confused and he should be. I decided to speak up.

“You are doing well. Keep going and go with your instincts.” I say, encouraging him. He takes a deep breath.

“Mate. Royal Pack. Pack member.” He starts.

“Mate. Royal Pack. Gamma.”

“Mate. Royal Pack. Beta.”

“Mate. Royal Pack. Alpha.” He stops then looks at me. His mouth is hanging open.

“Doesn’t know. Does know. Secrete. Hiding. Wolf. Hurt. Second chance.” He lists off different words. He starts shaking his head and puts a hand to his mouth. I feel some shock from him.

“King Alarick is your second chance mate. You and your wolf do not want him to find out because you both are scared of getting hurt again. Your first mate rejected you and you refuse to feel that again.” I don’t say anything.
