Chapter 66 – Shadowed Bond with Her Alpha

“I can get those for you Luna.” The driver says to me and I shake my head.

“No thank you. If you could, though, take the rest of the bags and pile them on my arms, I would be grateful.” I say and I hold out my arms. He smiles slightly, but I feel the warryness from him.

After I stood there for 30 seconds holding my arms he grabbed the bags and piled them on me. I couldn’t see where I was going, so I had to look at the ground to make sure I didn’t trip on anything. After I made it up the stairs to the castle I heard angels laughing. Well not angels, but that is what it sounded like. I have gotten used to hearing his chuckle, but not his laugh. He rarely laughed, but when I realized he was laughing at me I became irritated. As I walked through the front door he so graciously held open, his laughter died down to chuckling.

“Let me grab some of those for you.” Alarick says and I feel the weight of the bags I was holding decrease. I look up and can see in front of me again. He reaches and takes a couple of bags from my hands and I feel the sparks. I have to hold my breath. They have gotten stronger. Now even just the slightest touch sends waves of sparks though my body. I pray that he doesn’t notice, if he does he doesn’t show it. I nodded to him and started walking towards the apartment.

“When I said anything she wanted, I didn’t mean the whole store.” He says as I look down and see one of the bags starting to dig into his skin. I smile at him.

“It is your fault. You should have made sure she wasn’t around when you said it.” I said and he chuckled.

“That is very true. I will remember that for next time.” He says. We head back to the apartment and I see that it is all cleaned up from earlier. I go to the living room area and drop the bags on the floor, Alarick follows suit and stands there awkwardly staring at me.

“Hold on one second.” I say as I go to my room and go to my little safe box. I pull out 1000 dollars and close the safe. I walk back out to Alarick still standing there looking around. I grab my purse and pull out his credit card. I take the money and fold it around the credit card and hand it to him.

“What is this for?” He asks looking at the money and then at me. Goddess I love the face he makes when he is confused.

“Well Maleena wanted me to get a dress and they already rang up hers and mine together. I figured I would just pay you back for it. I also wanted to pay for her dress as well for my gift to her.” I say handing him the money and card. He takes it, pulls out his card then places the cash on the coffee table.

“I was hoping you would get something too. I know it isn’t a lot, but I am sorry for what is happening. It isn’t fair to you, or to Maleena.” He says looking down then walking towards the balcony door and staring outside. I sigh and walk over beside him.

“It isn’t your fault. You didn’t know they were going to force a Luna challenge. I am sure that whoever wins tomorrow will be able to handle anything you throw at them. Even if it is the contract.” I say, trying to comfort him even though I don’t believe it. No wolf would ever agree to that. He sighs then looks at me. I am surprised to see that his eyes are black and gold indicating that his wolf is out. He cups my cheek and I feel the sparks all over my body. I am trying to hold Fen back from taking over and pushing him off. It’s hard because all I feel right now is pleasure mixed with the painful memories all of my mates have caused me.

“It isn’t about th” Before he could finish my door swung open to reveal Alena.

“We need to get ready for the pa.” Alena starts then stops. I quickly pull back from his hand and look at Alena. She stands there frozen starting at us.

“Um… Have I missed something?” She asks and I look toward Alarick to see his eyes are back to normal. He is extremely irritated. My guess is from his wolf taking over.

“NO.” He quickly and loudly says. He walks toward the door and leaves. I feel a slight pang of hurt in my chest from him leaving, but quickly chastise myself for it. I look at Alena who is scrutinizing me.I feel her confusion, but also happiness.

“You came to get ready for the party?” I say and she shakes her head as if to clear her mind.

“Yes! My ladies maids are busy helping with everybody else and I told them not to worry about me. So let’s do this thing.” She says as she holds up a giant bag full of makeup and hair products.

“Oh good goddess. Can she even do hair and makeup? I swear if she makes us look like a clown I will kill her.” Fen says and I chuckle.

“Do you even know how to do makeup and hair?” I ask her and she scoffs.

“For your information, yes. I do. I do it most of the time, but for bigger occasions my ladies maids do it for me.” She answers.

“Okay…” I say and she rolls her eyes then points to a chair.

“Sit there and I will start setting everything we need out.” She says and I sit.

“What’s going on with you and my brother?” She asks and I look at her questioningly.

“What?” I ask when she doesn’t elaborate.

“I mean when I walk in his hand is on your cheek and you both were looking at eachother like they were the only person on earth. I didn’t know this love affair was happening. When did it start?” She asks and I am shocked.

“Alena. I don’t know what you thought you saw, but nothing is going on between me and your brother. I would say that we have become friends, but even that is pushing it. I am just a contract and nothing more. He doesn’t want to deal with sharing is throne with a person so he doesn’t want me to lose the challenge.” I say to her. And to myself because if I am being honest I feel for him. Not like I should but the cracks are starting to show up in the wall I built and that is scary.

“Whatever you say Lee.” Amara says and starts curling my hair.

2 hours later I look in the mirror. Amara gave me a darker smokey eye with red lips that make my eyes really pop. She pinned my hair up a bun with a couple of pieces falling over my face. She did a really good job. Her hair and makeup is the same as ne except instead of red lips she has a lighter pinkmi. Her dress is a deep purple with gold accents.

“That dress is perfect on you.” I say and she lights up.

“I chose the colors for you.” She says and I look at her with confusion.

“What are you talking about?” I ask and her smile grows even wider.
