“Of course she is. We had to cut away her clothes to get to her injuries. She had an abrasion on her leg that we had to look at. Looks like at some point in the challenge a wolf bit her leg.” She says and I nod my head.
“Would it be possible to change her into some clothes that cover everything? She always wears pants and a long sleeve. I know she wouldn’t want anybody to see her ..” I pause and look around. The doctor seemingly understands and nods her head.
“It is possible. They will need to be loose and we will need to have a three quarter sleeve because of the transfusion that is taking place.” She pauses and looks around. “Bring the clothes and I will change her.” She says and walks away.
I mindlink Maleena and tell her to bring loose clothes for her sister, that she wouldn’t mind getting dirty or cut up. She gives the okay and says that she will be down in a few minutes. I tasked her with helping the girls that rescinded the challenge. I couldn’t because I was first with LeeAca to the hospital. After another 10 minutes a whole group of people come rushing through the doors. A red head comes rushing in, from her aura I can tell that she is a Luna.
“Where is she?! Is she okay? We couldn’t get through that damned crowd at the arena! Everybody was pushing and shoving to leave. It was a mess!” She practically yells. This must be Luna Laura. I remember LeeAca mentioning her once.
“Luna Laura?” I ask and she wipes her head around to me and gives me a questioning look. After she recognizes me as Maleena’s mate she walks up to me.
“Lucas right? How is she?” She asks, a little frazzled.
“She will be fine. They stitched up some wounds and are working on clearing the wolfbane out of her system.” I say and the whole group erupts. I look around to see there are quite a few people here. There is Laura’s mate who has his arm around her, LeeAca’s father and brother, Redna, Gamma Garret, Beta Markus, Alena, and Amara.
“WOLFSBANE?!” Hear a man yell and growl, I look to see that it is LeeAca’s brother. I see Redna move closer to him and start rubbing his back. This soothes him. She must be his mate. Before I am able to answer somebody interrupts.
“Yes, wolfsbane. King Alarick is talking to the council now about this and the culprit will be dealt with accordingly.” Gamma Garret says and I hear people grumble.
“Can we see her?” Laura asks me and I shake my head.
“No, not yet we are waiting for a few things before anybody can see her.” I say and I feel her irritation.
“She is my best friend, close enough to be my sister, and you are telling me that she is stable but I can’t see her?!” Laura practically yells at me. Just then Maleena comes through the doors and stops, surprised to see all of these people. She makes her way to me and hands me a duffle bag.
“Thank you.” I say as I hug her and take in her chocolate and caramel scent. It calms me a bit and I walk away from the group of people to find the doctor. After I find her and give her the bag she tells me that she will let us know when we can see her. I nod my head in thanks and start to walk back towards the group. I stop when I hear them asking Maleena questions.
“Who is he and why does he think that he is the only one that can communicate for her?”
“I understand that he is your mate, but why is he acting as if he knows her?”
“Who does he think he is? Ace never told us about him, so he must not be that close to her.” I hear all these people asking and I get frustrated and walk out. All of them were eyeing me skeptically and angrily.
“It is none of your concern as to who I am and what I am to LeeAca. She tasked me with ensuring she is taken care of the way she requested. And as to your feelings about not being able to see her, you would have understood the need to wait once you saw Maleena walk in with the duffle bag. Now when she is ready the doctor will come and let us know when she is able to have visitors. In the meantime, I suggest you get your emotions under control because they are everywhere and she doesn’t need that at this particular moment.” I say with slight command, and people shut up and look down in guilt. Maleena comes and wraps her arms around my waist and I pull her in placing a kiss on top of her forehead.
“I love you.” She says and I smile a little.
“I love you too.” I say as I hold her.
After a couple minutes the doctor comes in and says that she is allowed visitors, but only 3 at a time. Her dad, Sebastian, Maleena walk in first, being that they are her blood family. I feel a slight pull on my arm and look behind me to see Gamma Garret looking concerned. I let him lead me to an empty room and he closes the door. I can feel his concern and worry and it makes me uneasy.
“Alarick just mindlinked me. They are taking care of the person who assisted in the incident.” He says and pauses. That can’t be why he is worried, there is more.
“And?” I ask and she looks to me and lowers his voice a little.
“They are now meeting about what to do with LeeAca.” He says with his voice laced with concern.
“What to do with her?” I ask trying to understand what he is saying. He nods his head.
“Her being the shadow.” He says and my face falls. Shit. “I have an idea, but I will need your help.” He says and I look at him. He is genuine.
“Anything.” I say and he goes into his plan.
Alarick’s POV
It has been hours and we are still no closer to a decision on what to do. It is already dinner time.
“We have been at this for hours. How about we all take the rest of the night to think about all of the points that were made today and come back tomorrow morning at 8.” Elder Chaderick says. Everybody tiredly nods their heads and walks out the door.
I can’t help the longing that I have to see LeeAca. Onin is sulking and now that the meeting is over, for now, he is bugging me to see her. I won’t deny him this, because I would like to see her too. I need her scent. I need to see that she is okay. I know that I have said before that if I was granted a second chance mate I would reject them, but I can’t reject her. Not since I figured out that I loved her from before I felt the mate bond. I am just happy that the woman I love is actually my second chance mate.
I make my way to the hospital and see that Lucas is outside of LeeAca’s door. Almost as if he is standing guard.
