Chapter 83 – Shadowed Bond with Her Alpha

“No problem.” He replies and the conversation disappears. I stay at my computer going through my research over the years. I have killed most of the hunters, but there are always more. The doctor that runs the “research” department is really the head of the operation and for the past 4 years I haven’t been able to find him. Keenan, the wizard, has been trying to help me locate him and before I moved here he had an idea that could help us find the good doctor. He was able to find one of the witches that was also trapped in the lab and he was going to reach out to her for help. I stayed in my safe room for the rest of the night. Lucas insisted that I needed more rest so he didn’t want to train tonight.

After what seemed like a few hours, but was really 6 hours, I heard a knock at my door. I quickly turned off my computer screen and walked back out to my room. I opened the door and saw Maleena standing there.

“You okay?” She asked.

“I’m fine. What are you doing so early?” I ask her, changing the subject.

“Warrior training. I wanted to see if you wanted to come.” She says shyly. Fen snorts in my head at Maleena’s behavior. She is like a little kid afraid of being told no.

“Sure. I’ll come. I need to see what skills you have that make you so good they decided to move you up.” I say jokingly. She smiles bright at me and starts jumping. I grab my shoes and we head down to the training field.

Everyone is staring at me and there are more people here than normal. Looks like some of the other packs and members decided to stay. I see each pack training separately. There are a total of 5 packs that are still here, including my home pack and the rogue pack.

I take a seat on the bleachers on the side of the field and begin to watch all the different packs. They aren’t interacting at all.

“They really should all train together. It would help mix things up. They would have different opponents and they could learn something new.” Fen says, clearly irritated by the scene in front of her. We dislike when people claim they train, but don’t take every opportunity to learn more. After another 5 minutes of watching, mine and Fen’s patience wears thin. I sigh and stand up. I start walking towards the center, where the royal pack is. People stop as I walk by bearing their necks in respect.

I stop walking when I see Gamma Garret. He stops what he is doing and looks up at me in surprise.

“Luna. What are you doing here?” He asks me.

“I came to watch Maleena, but instead I am getting irritated.” I say and I see a look of confusion on his face.

“Irritated?” He asks.

“Yes, Gamma, you heard me correctly. What type of training do you call this? You know what, don’t answer that because I will. It is sh*t training at the moment. Not just from your pack, but from all of the packs here.” I say getting louder and louder. I hear gasps from around me, but I have not bothered to look. I am now the center of attention as we wait to see what the Royal Gamma does for the disrespect. His mouth is in a firm line and I can see his jaw ticking. You don’t have to be an empath to know he is pissed. Then I see the side of his mouth turning up into a smirk.

“If you think that the training is sh*t… why don’t you take over for today. Show me how it’s done, since I clearly cannot train a pack.” Garret answers me. He is putting me on the spot, trying to get me to concede that he knows what he is doing, but I won’t. All the packs need to be taking this opportunity they have while they are here.

“Fine.” I hiss and his smirk fades. He didn’t think I would do it. I walk further into the field on one of the platforms they have. When I jump up on it all eyes are on me.

“All of the Gamma’s and trainers for the packs come up here.” I say and people start looking around. I see a few people start to make their way to me, including Garret and my father, who is still Gamma. After a few minutes I line them up and step forward again.

“You all have an incredible opportunity while you are here and you need to take advantage of that. There are a total of five packs here today and what I saw truly disappointed me. Each pack was leading their training separately. You need to take advantage of the other packs being here. Mix it up. Face new opponents that will challenge you. Learn new moves and techniques that you can go and practice. Each of these people up here are paired off. They will be sparring for one round each. This will show you all different techniques, stances, and moves. I will call it if the spar gets out of hand. First off the trainers.” I say and motion for the four trainers to step forward. I pair them off and everybody else gets off the platform. The trainers are supposed to have their art perfected. They are to train the pack with the Gamma after all. Most packs have one, but some don’t have any. The fight starts and lasts 5 minutes. I ring the bell and they shake hands. The next trainers step up and start. Again after 5 minutes I ring the bell and they shake hands. I move to the paired Gammas. There was one extra so I pulled Lucas from the crowd up here to fight. They all start and finish in 5 minutes. None were particularly brutal. They understood that this was to show different skills, not a show of strength. After all the fights I stand back up on the platform.

“As you can see. Each of these people has different techniques. They moved differently than each other. Everyone pair off with a member of another pack that you have never met before.” I instruct and everybody starts moving. After I see everybody is paired up I assign a Gamma and a trainer to different sections. Once they are all on their platforms I begin to explain.

“Each group of people will go to their first assigned Gamma and they will show you a combo. Once they feel you and your partner have the combo down you will move to the next Gamma and repeat until you are finished. After that we will all be sparing with our partner. The Gamma’s and trainers will walk around assisting each person with posture and techniques. Giving pointers on the fight. Does anybody have any questions?” I ask and nobody speaks up. “Good. You may begin.” I say and I look around to see the Gamma’s talking. After they are done talking they start showing a combo of their choosing. Each demonstrates it with a trainer, or Lucas, since I chose him to help. I walk around and assist where I can. Correcting foot postures, giving advice on different sized opponents. Putting people down when they get too cocky. Fen likes that part. By the time it was lunch everybody was exhausted. The training lasted longer than it normally would on a saturday, but with that many people we needed to make sure everybody got the help they needed. I am glad that they listened to me, even the Alpha’s and Beta’s took pointers from me. Once everyone was off the field I could smell him from afar. I looked around and saw Alarick staring at me. Before anything could happen I felt a hand clasp my shoulder and I grabbed it, flipping the person over me. I look down to see Lucas on the ground with a shocked expression. I hear laughing behind me and see that there is still a group of people on the field. Garret, Markus, Maleena, Joanah, Laura, my father, and Sebastian. They are all laughing. I look down and see Lucas getting up, his face red from embarrassment.

“You should know by now not to sneak up on me.” I tell him and help him up the rest of the way.

“I figured you would know I was there, but it seems your mate had you in a trance.” He says grumpily. Then he stifles a gasp and looks at me. I felt his regret as soon as the words left his mouth. Fen growls at his comment and he takes a step back.

“I’m sorry I didn’t mean.” He starts but I cut him off.

“It’s fine Lucas just go get some lunch or whatever they are serving.” I say and walk off to the castle.

When I walk in I am bombarded with one Amara.

“Hey! What are you doing today? Do you want to get some lunch? Then we could go to town if you want. Or movies, I don’t really care.” She rushes at me. It is like a smack in the face.

“I gotta take a shower Mar. I just got back from training.” I say and her face falls.

“Oh. Okay.” She says then turns around to leave. Ugh..

“But.. If you want you could grab some sandwiches and come up to the apartment and wait for me to get done. It won’t take me too long.” I say and she turns and rushes me. Taking me in a tight hug. She was never this affectionate before. She lets go of me and scrunches her nose.

“Uh yea. Go take a shower. You smell nasty.” She says and laughs at me. I chuckle and we go our separate ways.

Before I took a shower I looked at my messages on my computer. Nothing. I take a deep breath and release it, trying to calm myself down. I get in the shower and start to think about what happened last night. Alarick could see parts of my dream. I don’t understand why. That isn’t normal.

“No it’s not, now could you hurry up and get out?! I smell roast beef and chicken. Those fries she brought better not be cold and soggy by the time we get out there.” Fen snaps at me. I hurry up and finish my shower and change. I walk out to the livingroom to see Amara sitting on the couch trying to find a movie or T.V. show to watch. She settles on some romantic comedy movie about enemies turning into lovers.
