They bowed to us.
Killian held up his phone up to the guards, “This is him. This is my son. Ryan Wolfe. I want him found. Now.” He showed them a picture of Ryan, one he must’ve taken earlier during the family event. It was of Ryan sitting on my shoulders, his smile stretched wide, arms in the air like he was flying.
“Yes, Alpha,” they all echoed in unison, nodding quickly.
“Stay here,” Killian said, grabbing my hand and pressing a kiss to it. His eyes locked with mine. “Stay still. I’ll go join the search. I swear to you, Liana, I’ll find him. Just stay-“
“No,” I snapped, pulling my hand back. My whole body was shaking. My throat was already dry from screaming. I’m not staying anywhere. He’s MY son, Killian! I’m not just going to stand here while he could be… could be-“
I choked.
“Something isn’t right,” he muttered, looking around again. His voice dropped lower. “Liana, this is too calculated. The false alarm, the timing… Something’s wrong.’
“Exactly!” I said, tears blurring my vision as I pushed past him. “That’s why I can’t stand still! I have to find him!”
And then I was running. I didn’t even know where. I just kept calling his name, over and over, moving from one section of the skating area to another. “Ryan! Baby, please! Mommy’s here! Ryan!”
Killian caught up to me, breathless, grabbing my arm to steady me before I could crash into another bench. His eyes were wild now, panic slowly consuming the rage in his features. “Ryan!” he shouted, voice raw. “Buddy! Answer me!”
The guards had spread out now, sectioning off zones, speaking into radios, flashing pictures of Ryan to everyone still in the building. Some kids were crying again, others clung to their parents, and all I could hear was the thud of my own heart smashing against my chest.”Alpha Killian!” one of the guards called, jogging over with a few others behind him. A tall man stood at the front of the group, sharp in a black suit, eyes hard, like he’d been through a war. He looked straight at Killian and bowed deeply.
“Alpha Killian,” he said formally. “We checked the security feed. The fire alarm was triggered manually, from inside the back corridor, near the mechanical controls.”
Killian’s jaw clenched. “So it was truly fake.”
The man nodded. “It was a distraction. A diversion, Alpha. Just enough to stir panic.”
My stomach twisted. I couldn’t speak.
Then the man continued, pulling up a tablet and swiping to a security camera feed. “This was captured moments before the alarm. A black SUV left through the service exit. Unregistered. Not part of staff. Left before the lockdown.”
He turned the screen to show us.
A blurry image of a car with tinted windows pulling out quietly and disappearing into the back alley.
Killian stared at it. And then I saw something change in his face, like he’d just been punched.
“He’s in there,” he said, voice low and deadly. “Ryan’s in that car.”
I couldn’t feel my legs.
Everything around me felt like it was spinning.
“No… no, no, no,” I muttered, grabbing the screen, as if I could somehow reach through it and pull my baby back.
Killian was already turning. “Get the chopper ready. Track the license. Get every camera in the city on this now. I want drones in the air in five fucking minutes. Shut down every road leading out. Nobody leaves! Do you understand me!?”
“Yes, Alpha!” they all echoed in unison.
But I was already frozen.
Because my baby was gone.
And someone took him.
And I didn’t know who.
Or why.
And all I could think about was his little face, his little smile, his tiny voice saying, “I’ve never been this happy, ever.”
And now…
My baby was taken away from me…
KILLIAN’S POV
It had already been about twenty minutes since I ordered the lockdown, and I swear to God, it was the longest twenty minutes of my life. I was pacing nonstop in the open field just in front of the skating area while Liana stood nearby, looking like she could pass out any second from how anxious she was. She kept wringing her hands and looking around as if Ryan might just appear out of nowhere. I didn’t blame her. I felt the same. My body was burning with tension, my wolf was growling inside me, and I was trying not to completely lose my mind.
Mr. Sinclair, the owner of the amusement park and a member of our Dark Moon pack, was standing near the security guards, his arms folded, brows creased with worry. The man was wealthy and well-connected, which was exactly why I called him the second we realized Ryan was gone. I knew he’d make shit move fast. And he did.
Then his phone rang. I stopped pacing immediately and turned to him, watching as he picked it up.
“Really?” he said, and there was this pause. Then his face broke into this massive smile. “Oh, thank goodness.”
My chest tightened so hard it was almost painful.
“They’ve found him,” he said, his voice shaking just a little, but the huge smile spreading across his face said it all.
I let out a long, shaky breath I hadn’t even realized I was holding.
Liana rushed to him. “They’ve found my son? Is it true? Did you say they found Ryan?”
Mr. Sinclair nodded fast. “Yes, yes. He was in the black car we tracked leaving just after the alarm went off. They intercepted it. He’s safe. They’re bringing him now.”
Liana gasped and put both hands over her mouth. I could see the tears already forming in her eyes, but this time, they were tears of relief.
I walked up to Sinclair, clapped a hand on his shoulder and gave it a tight pat. “Thank you,” I muttered, my voice low, but every inch of me breathing again for the first time since Ryan went missing.
Then a few minutes later, a commotion started coming from the entrance area, and I turned sharply. Two security guards were dragging two grown-ass men, both of them shouting things like “Let go of me!” and “We didn’t do anything!” while another guard, this one with a strong build, was carrying a little boy in his arms.
Ryan.
“RYAN!” Liana screamed, already sprinting before I could say a word.
“Mommy! Daddy!” Ryan’s voice cracked in the air as the guard dropped him gently to his feet, and our boy ran like his life depended on it.
Liana dropped to her knees and pulled him into the tightest hug I’ve ever seen, burying her face in his hair, tears falling freely now. “Oh my God, oh my God, baby,” she whispered over and over again. “You’re okay. You’re okay.”
I crouched beside them and held both of them close, breathing in Ryan’s scent like I was trying to convince myself this wasn’t a damn dream. I kissed his forehead and wrapped my arms around them, my voice low. “You scared the hell out of us, buddy.”
“They put me in a car,” Ryan said, still catching his breath. “But I told them my daddy was gonna find me. And you did.”
I smiled a little and nodded. “Of course I did. I’ll always find you.
One of the guards came forward and addressed me directly. “These are the men who tried to abduct your son, Alpha. We caught them just before they could escape. The roads were already blocked off, just like you ordered.”
