“Alpha Sebastian,” I said seriously, “if this ever happens again, you should push me away immediately. Wake me up forcefully. Or… I don’t know, just slap me awake!”
Yes, I’d made a mistake, but wasn’t he partly responsible? He could have stopped me! Why had he allowed me to use him as a human pillow?
His expression softened. “I don’t make a habit of abusing my employees.”
I pressed my lips together, utterly lost for words.
What was I supposed to say? “Please humiliate me, Alpha Sebastian, I’m totally into that”?
No way. That sounded way too much like a cheesy line from a bad fanfic.
I turned my gaze back to the window, deciding silence was my safest refuge.
The rest of the ride passed in a suffocating, awkward quiet.

The car climbed steadily higher into the mountains, following a meticulously maintained road that had been carved through the wilderness at great expense. Though nestled deep within the forest, the infrastructure was carefully designed to blend seamlessly with the secluded, mysterious atmosphere.
Along the route, antique-style bronze lamps stood at regular intervals, ready to cast a magical glow during foggy evenings or misty mornings. In winter, when snow blanketed the ground, the entire area transformed into a fairy-tale wonderland.
Eventually, the car came to a stop in front of the main building of a private lodge within the resort. A small welcoming committee was already gathered outside.
Alpha Sebastian and I stepped out, immediately greeted by the project manager and chief engineer, accompanied by their teams.
“Alpha Sebastian, welcome. We’re honored by your visit,” the project manager said eagerly as he stepped forward.
The resort was managed by Silver Peak Pack, so the project manager reported directly to Alpha Sebastian’s company. The chief engineer, however, had been jointly appointed by both investor parties.
Alpha Sebastian nodded in acknowledgment and strode confidently inside, with the entourage following close behind.
Once inside, I was introduced to the key personnel-Marcus Reid, the project manager, and Howard Fleming, the chief engineer.
By now, it was 12:40 PM, and a lavish feast awaited us in the banquet hall of the main building.
Alpha Sebastian was escorted to the hall, and throughout the meal, much of the conversation consisted of obvious flattery. They hadn’t yet grasped Alpha Sebastian’s management style and were applying the same approach that had worked with Remy and Wiley during previous inspection visits.
After lunch, Marcus led Alpha Sebastian and me to our accommodations. As we rode in a tour cart toward the villa area, Marcus mentioned that Remy had arrived the previous afternoon with quite a large entourage.
“He called them distinguished guests-said it would be like a soft opening for the resort,” Marcus explained.
Alpha Sebastian’s brow furrowed slightly. “Where are they now?”
Sensing the Alpha’s displeasure, Marcus grew bolder with his complaints. “They’ve taken over the lakeside villas and made noise all night long. I imagine they’re still sleeping off their… activities.”
“He brought fourteen people, ten of them young women,” Marcus continued. “They held a wild party in Remy’s main villa. When the cleaning staff went in this morning…” he lowered his voice, “there were condoms everywhere.”
Both Alpha Sebastian and I fell silent, our expressions frozen.
I couldn’t help but ask, “Is Remy even… physically capable of that much exertion at his age?”
Marcus shrugged. “Who knows? Look, I can’t really say much. Remy’s an investor. If he wants to bring people here, what can I do?”
Alpha Sebastian’s expression darkened considerably. *What the hell is Remy playing at?*
–
The tour cart stopped in front of a villa built in a traditional style, radiating tranquility and old-world charm.
“Alpha Sebastian, we heard you prefer quiet surroundings, so we’ve arranged this place for you. Is it suitable?” Marcus asked.
“It’s fine,” Alpha Sebastian replied with a nod.
Marcus carried our luggage inside, then said, “Alpha Sebastian, please rest this afternoon. I’ll check if Remy and his group are awake. Once they’re up, Howard and I will take everyone on a tour of the resort.”
The inspection process usually took over forty days, but Alpha Sebastian and Remy were only making ceremonial appearances.
“Proceed as planned,” Alpha Sebastian answered coolly.
I smiled at Marcus. “Please contact me once you’ve made the arrangements.”
“Of course,” Marcus said, pulling out his phone. “May I add your contact information, Secretary Celina?”
“Certainly,” I agreed.
I noticed Alpha Sebastian’s eyes grow cold as he observed the barely concealed enthusiasm on Marcus’s face.
The temperature in the room seemed to drop several degrees.
What had gotten into him?
It was just a simple exchange of contact information for work purposes.
Surely he didn’t think…
Celina
I retrieved my phone and quickly saved Marcus’s contact information. As we exchanged details, a polite smile curved my lips, one of those smiles that tends to put people at ease. There’s something about it-something disarming that makes others let their guard down around me.
Though my appearance can be striking, even intimidating to some, my gentle demeanor softens that initial impact, making me seem more approachable than I truly am. It’s a bit of a fa?ade. Only those who really know me understand the chill lurking beneath the surface.
“Your profile picture is just as stunning as you are in person,” Marcus said with unabashed admiration, completely oblivious to Alpha Sebastian standing just a few feet away.
His gaze was fixed on me, open and sincere.
“Thank you,” I replied gracefully, accepting the compliment without making a fuss.
Marcus seemed eager to keep the conversation going, but then a cold, cutting voice sliced through the air. “Manager Marcus Reid, it appears you have far too much free time on your hands.”
I noticed Marcus flinch visibly. Anyone with half a brain could hear the displeasure dripping from Alpha Sebastian’s tone.
Marcus hurriedly slipped his phone into his pocket and stammered, “I should get back to work.”
The poor man practically bolted away, moving faster than an Olympic race walker.
I slipped my phone back into my pocket, catching the darkening shadow on Alpha Sebastian’s face. It was clear that Remy’s antics had soured his mood, and Marcus had unwittingly become the target.
“Alpha Sebastian, I’ll take our luggage upstairs,” I offered, grabbing both suitcases and heading toward the staircase.
As I climbed a few steps, the familiar scent of sandalwood mingled with the fresh morning dew drifted over me. At the same moment, the weight in my hand suddenly felt lighter.
I glanced over and found Alpha Sebastian walking beside me, now carrying my suitcase.
I was genuinely taken aback.
An Alpha hauling luggage for his human secretary was as unusual as an Alpha chauffeuring his employees around. It completely flipped the expected dynamic on its head.
Alpha Sebastian must have sensed my surprise because he spoke with a cool, detached tone, “I believe I mentioned that I don’t enjoy abusing my employees.”
With that, he effortlessly carried the suitcases up the stairs.
I watched him, puzzled. Since when did carrying luggage count as abuse? Was this level of consideration typical from an Alpha toward a human employee?
Though it struck me as odd, I didn’t dwell on it and followed him upstairs.
The second floor housed a master bedroom, two guest rooms, and a study.
Naturally, the master was Alpha Sebastian’s domain.
I selected one of the guest bedrooms, dropped my suitcase inside, and then headed to the master bedroom to unpack Alpha Sebastian’s clothes.
Over the past few days, I’d memorized every detail Beta Sawyer had sent me-everything from Alpha Sebastian’s favorite foods and drinks to his preferred styles of clothing.
It gave me the strange impression that Beta Sawyer was acting like Alpha Sebastian’s unofficial mate, preparing his future Luna for her responsibilities.
“Celina, do you harbor some personal vendetta against my clothes?” came the calm voice from beside me.
I hadn’t even noticed when he entered the room. Lost in thought while handling his garments, I must have gripped his shirt too tightly, leaving it wrinkled.
His observation skills were unnervingly sharp.
“Sorry, I’ll iron it for you,” I said quickly, releasing the shirt and smoothing the fabric with my hands.
“Thinking about something unpleasant?” Alpha Sebastian asked casually as he removed his jacket and handed it to me.
“It’s nothing important,” I replied, hastily taking the jacket and draping his shirt over my arm.
I grabbed a hanger and placed the jacket in the closet, trying my best to appear calm.
My body, however, was screaming, “Please don’t ask!”
But Alpha Sebastian didn’t move. He stood there, silently watching me.
