Someone knocks outside the door running my hand through my hair trying to keep my composure while sitting on the bed.
“Come in,” I say fully aware it isn’t Jaden at the door he wouldn’t knock.
He strides in his boots and stomps noiselessly into the room grinning at me.
“What are you doing here?” I shout mad standing from the bed.
He shuts the door swiftly, raising his fingers to his lips and shushing me.
“Is that how you welcome me child”
“You’re not welcome here Aitch,” I say sitting back on the chair he stares at me stunned. I dare to use his first name.
“Angel looks like you’ve forgotten your training”
“I remember all of it, especially the part you sold me”
“It was an opportunity I saw to get you back easily to the house so you can complete your pledge to the badlands”
“I owe you nothing,” I say sternly. I could tell he was lying; he had no idea Jaden was behind Madam Von’s visit.
“I know you’re mad at me Angel but remember Jaden is the enemy here”
“Not the only enemy” I roll my eyes after the conversation.
“I just need a blood sample of Jaden that’s all” he urges.
“Why?” I am confused.
What the hell would he need Jaden’s blood sample for?
The door bangs open Jaden strides In making my heart race.
Panicking, I rush to go hug Jaden at the same time Aitch dashes hiding behind the door.
He’s astonished looking at me with a questioning look.
I pulled him away from the door, planting a fake smile so Aitch could easily walk out.
That was close.
If Jaden had caught Aitch in the room that would have ruined everything.
“Who was Hailey?” Jaden asks, gripping my arm.
“Who?” I question wiggling my face confused.
He twists my hand pushing me onto the bed face flat, angling my hips to him.
“You can pretend all you want but I can see right through you, remember you’re mine understood? ” he states, smacking my ass softly.
“Why the hell did you banish me only to force me back”
He lets go of my arm and I sit on the bed.
“Because Hailey I’m not done with you” he states like his plaything he could use as he pleased.
“When I am, you are free to go anywhere you want,” he says, turning his back to me.
“I can’t wait” that’ll be enough time to find out what I want.
“Till then you are not allowed to leave this house without my permission, you eat what I say to you, and you wear what I get you control everything and everywhere you go” he speaks to me as if he owns me.
“No circumstance should be in a confined space with Dimitri, if possible you stay the hell away from him and at least five feet apart from any other male” leaving my side he picks up a piece of paper on the floor, one that must have fallen out of place when I searched the room.
He drops the paper he was fumbling with then walks up to me standing above me his fingers under my chin as we lock gazes.
“You’ll get a room close to mine so I can easily access you”
“I am not a toy,” I say, gritting my teeth.
“You’re my toy if I say so” he insists
“If send for you, you come running, you stop everything you doing and you come running, if you can’t run, you walk if you can’t walk you crawl if you can’t crawl you should be dead and if you so much as think of fleeing the pack house you run” he gazes darkens making shivers run down my spine.
“You run and you don’t stop if I catch up with you, you will get a very painful death one that’s worse than your mother’s am I understood”
I glare at him angrily. He dares to mention my mother standing from my spot on the bed. I raise my hand below his chin but I don’t get Innerve.
“If I find out you have something to do with my mother’s death you pray to the moon goddess for death Jaden Perry that is my promise”
He smirks his hand cupping my breasts circling my nipple under the fabric.
“Challenge accepted Hailey Stewarts,” He says, closing the space between us claiming my lips and possession over my body.
I wake up too goddamn early, a habit I had developed staying in the badlands.
Not wanting to break my morning routine, I walk quietly to the cupboard pulling lm Jaden’s shirt and pants that hang loosely around my hips.
He might have given me his rules but I never agreed to them.
I look at him sleeping peacefully.
Leaving the room I head outside, the cold wind and morning sky I always find comforting to take a walk.
I miss the badlands, Ride, Tyler, and Sal wondering if they were awake too like we did together, training under the night, my thoughts trailing as I walk towards the woods.
I see a figure heading to the woods.
I hastened my face walking carefully to not be noticed, certain it was Rustave.
It was high time I had a little chat with the motherfucker hoping we would get violent alone in the woods.
Rustave looked small compared to the men I fought with back at the badlands so I am sure I can take him on.
“Help me?” A voice screams terrified.
I turn to see if Rustave heard it too but he keeps walking deeper into the forest.
“Please help me!” The voice pleads again, stopping me in my tracks, angry I was letting Rustave go, and I head left to the source of the voice.
“Help me!”
“Hello?” I call out not spotting anyone.
“Is someone there please help me!” A feminine voice cries out.
She was calling from the end of a ditch.
I step closer, her blue pleading eyes stare up at me.
She was hanging onto a branch by the look of It, it won’t hold any longer.
Panicking, I look around for something that I could use to pull her up.
