Chapter 57 – The Alpha She Does Not Care (Wynta & Jared) Novel

She cursed as he latched on to her in a tight grip and grated out her name, almost angrily. But how the hell was she supposed to know who it was? She couldn’t bloody smell him, though his eyes she now realized had been across the street, he’d been looking at that car that was now driving off up the street away from them.

Not one of his pack members, in other words, or they would have just jumped out to help him. She had no choice but to grab on to him and haul his heavy ass into her apartment building. He was staggering about, muttering something about how he was going to punish her for this.

She had him half shoved up against the wall as she unlocked her door, and then she was pushing him inside. She couldn’t leave him outside unconscious. Not with an unknown wolf still out there in that car, they could be his pack’s enemy for all she knew, if, of course, he hadn’t been one of Nolan’s men.

She had him inside the apartment, and he was out cold, and she couldn’t hold on to his weight anymore. He was too bloody big and heavy, as a completely dead weight, and it showed her just how much he had been fighting to maintain some sort of control over his body as she’d tried to get him inside.

He dragged her down onto the floor as he collapsed, and she was half pressed underneath him and had to shove him up and over onto his back to get out from under his unconscious body. It was an effort. The man was six-four and solid muscle, she kind of just lay there for all moment and caught her own breath. She wasn’t exactly tiny at five-nine herself, but she didn’t possess wolfen strength.

Finally, she managed to sit up and turn and look at the unconscious Alpha on the floor of her apartment and a laugh bubbled up inside of her, at the sight of him. He had a redden irritated band of skin across his eyes where she had sprayed him directly, and the skin was a little blistered, he kind of looked like a raccoon.

He was going to be pissed when he woke up, but it was the funniest thing she’d seen in a long time. She stood and looked down at him after regaining her composure, wondering what to do with him. Did she call his own Beta and risk being hauled in for attacking him? She was certain they weren’t going to take it lightly and Jared’s own words of punishing her, likely his own unit would know him well enough to understand they had to haul her in for him to do that, when he regained consciousness.

She pulled her phone out and bit her lip as she looked at him, turned her face away. It really was too funny to look at him, a big, powerful Alpha Wolf rendered unconscious, and so easily by one that was wolf-less. He was going to be so embarrassed. She wasn’t calling Dwane, nope. She had no idea what Jared’s unit was like, not really.

She put a call to Chester. He was the best person for her to talk to. He picked up on the sixth ring. “Wynta, what’s wrong?” he asked.

“Um, got me a bit of… well, funny dilemma. Not so funny for Jared though, he’s going to be really mad.”

“What?”

“Hmm, I thought I was being stalked and about to be snatched off the street, sensed a wolf and, well, when its hand landed on me, I kind of reacted, and now well…”

“Well, why are you calling me? I don’t understand.”

“I kneed him in the… balls,” she tried not to laugh, “and dosed him with aerosoled wolfsbane, before I knew who it was.”

“What!” Chester gasped.

“Yeah! He’s kind of unconscious on my apartment floor right now. But…” she snorted as she looked at him and thought about a raccoon.

“But?” she heard amusement in Chester’s own voice now.

“He kind of looks like a raccoon.” She burst out. “Oh my Goddess, Chester, it’s hilarious.”

“Send me a picture,” he snorted, and then she heard him yelling for Edward. “Hey Edward, Wynta brought your son down. She’s gonna send a picture.”

She almost couldn’t believe it. They also thought it was funny. She shook it off and snapped the photo and sent it through. There was a lot of laughing at the other end of the line as they all saw it. She shook her head. “You’d best come and get him,” she stated.

“Oh, hell no, he’s your problem now, Wynta.” Edward snorted, “but that is going on the mantle.

“Come on Edward, this is your son you’re talking about. Send someone to pick him up. I don’t want him waking up in my apartment. He was already cursing and muttering about punishment when he was staggering around before he succumbed.” She sighed.

“Just leave him there, he’ll wake up on his own. It was only wolfsbane, right?” Edward asked.

“Yes but…” she bit her lip “We already don’t get along.”

“Why was he following you?”

“I don’t bloody know, but…” she wondered if he’d seen or smelled other wolves in the area.

“But?” she heard both Chester and Edward ask, and it was on a more serious note they’d picked up her apprehension.

“There was another wolf across the street, Jared was focused on him and he, Jared. I didn’t recognize him,” she sighed.
