Chapter 6 – Belladonna The Rejected Luna

Kane raised an eyebrow at her and they both heard a door bang open and shut somewhere off in the distance, the very same direction Parker had gone himself. She watched Kane turn and look that way. Then just sigh a little.

“I’ll be signing the separation agreement, not Parker, he’s…” Kane stated, and she watched him shake his head. “Unhappy with things at the moment.”

Bella didn’t say anything. What could she say? Kane motioned for her to walk into the Alpha’s Office. He stepped over and held the door for her, and she walked passed him, and she heard the door close behind them, and then he walked across the room with her, “Please sit down.”

He waved her to the Alpha’s actual seat, not somewhere she had ever sat. That wasn’t her place, regardless she was Alpha-blooded. When she didn’t go and sit, he pushed her gently around the desk and into Parkers’ actual chair, before pulling up a chair next to her.

So, he could access Parker’s computer, and print out two copies of that separation agreement, before retrieving Parker’s copy of their mating alliance. Which he placed on the desk right next to the one she had given him earlier; her copy. Both copies she knew had to be null and voided or cancelled.

Though why Parker wasn’t here to do it himself, she didn’t understand that, Bella thought he’d be in here happy to see her gone from him, or at least not care about doing it at all.

She handed over her pack card and signed and dated the place on the agreement to stated she had done so, as did Kane. Who then photographed the card, printed that, and they both signed it as well. Bella pulled out her pack phone and held it out to him, and he scrolled through it. There were a few games she played on it but nothing else. She watched as he frowned at her now.

“What?” she asked.

“There are no personal photos on here. It’s odd. They’re all pack related pictures from the hospital. Or Luna Duties.”

“That’s not odd, it’s a pack phone.” She stated simply.

“Bella, that is very odd. People photograph their lives, for keepsakes. It’s odd that you have nothing like that on here.” he was still frowning at her.

“Why? I wouldn’t have anyone to send them to anyway, so there is no need for that.”

“Your father? Grandmother?” he questioned instantly.

Bella sighed heavily now, as she looked at him, why did he not get it? She didn’t understand but explained that to him, she shouldn’t bloody have to, he’d been there that day. “Father sold me to Parker. The Luna told me not to return ever, and father severed his kin bond with me a week later. My grandmother died a few years back. I felt her sever from me. It’s just me now, seeing as my mother died in childbirth.”

She had pictures of her grandmother in her packed suitcase, in frames, she was the only person in all her life to ever love her, and she was now gone from this world as well. It was just Bella now, she had no one.

She was an orphan with no family, not that she had ever considered her father or half sibling’s, family. Had never been a part of that household. It hadn’t even surprised her that he’d done it, only that it had taken him so long to do it was all. She’d been expecting it all her life. She had blinked at feeling it suddenly be gone from her, then had sighed just once and moved on with her life.

“Bella,” he gasped, sounding shocked, “why didn’t you say anything to anyone?” his hand touched her arm gently, a comforting gesture she supposed.

She shrugged it off, thinking that would be obvious to him as well.

“Bella, if you want to stay here, Parker would like that.” Kane murmured.

Her eyes met Kane’s now, and she raised an eyebrow at him, that was not what she’d gotten from Parker at all today. “And just how do you think his new Luna will feel about that?” she questioned right back “It’s not at all appropriate.” Bella stated simply “That also doesn’t align to the mating alliance which clearly states, I’m to leave this pack within 24 hours of that rejection being accepted.”

“I think Parker would make an exception to that rule for you, Bella.” Kane sighed.

“He doesn’t need to Kane, and he shouldn’t either. I was chosen, just to be rejected. That has now come to pass, and he can’t claim his Goddess-Gifted Mate until I’m gone. Though I did give him my permission to.” She looked at him questioningly “why hasn’t he gone off to do that? He should be itching to get that girl into his bed.” And she knew he had to be. He liked s*x, a lot of it, and could barely go two days without having it. It had been four now.

“Out of respect for you still being here. Parker will not Mark or Mate Carina while you are still here inside his pack. It is wrong to do so, in his eyes. Only after you officially leave him, will he do that.”

She shook her head now, “I did give him permission. He should just go and do it. Likely stop him from looking at me like just now, with anger.”

Again, Kane was frowning at her.

She was handed her new phone after all the paperwork was signed, and the items photographed as proof that she’d returned everything. She watched Kane pull out a large stamp and ink pad from the desk’s top draw, open that ink pad and then put the stamp on it. Then he looked right at her for a long moment.

“Bella, do you have a plan? Somewhere to go after this?” he asked her, giving her his full and undivided attention.

“Mm,” she nodded, “I’ve always had a plan in place. I keep track of the need for pack doctors in our world. There’s a wolfen employment page on the hospital’s intranet, for medical staff. There are currently four other packs in need of a pack doctor. I can go to or apply for trial work inside their packs to see if I like it there.”

“You’ve always kept track?” he queried, sounded a bit confused to her as to why she would do that.

“Yes, Kane. It would be stupid of me not to. Parker only needed to be mated to me until he found his Goddess-Gifted, and that could well have been the full moon after I came here for all I knew. Any full moon that followed after the mating alliance was done.” She shrugged. “So, I kept my eyes and ears open all the time. Knowing this day would come.”

“When was the last time you checked that?” Kane asked.

Bella took the time, while he was directing what she could only think of as concern for her where abouts in the future, to unwrap her new phone, set it up and sort out a new bank account for herself. There was still that final part of their separation agreement to be completed.

“Hmm, that would have been the day you all left to go to that mating ball.” she answered him “Between delivering pups.” She chuckled a little. It had been a busy night that night.

Finally, that bank account was all set up. She made sure it was not the bank this pack used, wasn’t in anyway affiliated with Parker and his pack.

She looked at Kane, “Just one last thing to be attended to,” she stated.

They’d ticked everything off that separation agreement one by one as they’d sorted it all out. All that was left was for her to be transferred that monetary some, she calculated it inside her mind eight years of her life at $12,000 a year. A total of $96,000. Humans earn more than that in a year sometimes. Her own father had sold her off for a measly sum of $1000 a month.

She was worth nothing to that man. Not even the use of her body was worth anything $250 a week. She’d never earned an actual income here inside the pack. Because Parker owned her, so he didn’t have to pay her wages for her being a doctor, that was all part and parcel of his ownership, she knew.

Bella stopped that train of thought, before she did the math in her head, that put a value on the use of her body by him. She was cheap, that much she knew. Less than a $100 a f**k that was a given. She shook it off and forced herself not to think about it.

She watched Kane put in the monetary some to be transferred to her, damned near yelled at him to stop. Reached out and halted his hands when she saw the sum of a million dollars punched in. “Don’t do that.” She stated and pushed his hands out of the way.

She typed in the minimum she was entitled to herself, $96,000. “That is the minimum.” She stated and hit the send button before he could do anything about it. “Do not waste pack funds on me. I also don’t want it. Don’t even really want that money, Kane. But seeing as I never earned a single cent while here,”

She held up a hand to stop him from speaking, when he opened his mouth to say something, “Not entitled to, I know, sold to him.” She stated flatly “I need something to get my life set up once I leave. That is the only reason I’m accepting this at all,” she told him.

He was really frowning at her now. She then hit the delete transaction button on the pack account, before he could stop her, so her details couldn’t be seen for him to make another transfer. She waved her hand at the Mating Alliances “Void away.” and she watched him stamp both copies on every page, pressed that stamp to the very words Mating Alliance on the front page.

Then they both signed the final place on the separation agreement, and it was all done. She was no longer Parkers. She was free for the first time in eight long years. She took a breath in and stood up. “I’ll move the rest of my things into my car,” she stated as she picked up the second set of keys on the desk.

“Kane, please tell Alpha Parker, I’ll sever myself from the pack after I leave and have found a place to stay for the night. If he is unhappy about it… well, I guess he can sever me from the pack anytime he sees fit prior to me doing that. I would, however, like him to give me the courtesy of waiting until I’ve found somewhere to stay. I hear it hurts, and I don’t relish having a car accident while leaving the pack.”

“He isn’t that cruel, Bella, you know that. Parker will not sever you from his pack, it’s unsafe for you out there as a rogue. So, it will be on your terms. He’ll likely just let you be a pack member forever if you never do it. A pack scent will give you some protection out there.”

Bella nodded, “That is decent of you to say so.” she looked at her watch. It had been five hours since their rejection had been stated and accepted.

It hadn’t taken all that long after all, and most of it was her packing her things. It probably would have taken much longer if she’d not had the help of Merideth or Kane here in her Dr’s office either. Just five hours was all it had taken to close out her life here, the sun was only just starting to go down.

She looked at Kane, he’d always been nice to her, the entire unit had and smiled at him. “I’ll head off shortly, just need to bring the things from the Luna Suite down, and put them in the car. She looked at the keys in her hand, and still didn’t understand why he had bought her one. That was a mystery. Why give someone a car that wasn’t allowed outside the pack?

“If you have any trouble out there Bella, you can come right back here for help.” He stated and walked her from the office. “Or call us for assistance.”

“I don’t think there will be any trouble, and I won’t be coming back, Kane. I’m not his Mate anymore, I’m not the Luna and I don’t think the new Luna would appreciate my coming back, or even calling this pack for assistance. Kind of got the impression she didn’t like me.” She stated simply, and she wasn’t going to be coming back.

No, she was going to make a new life for herself. Somewhere out there, she didn’t know where yet, but tonight was her first night of freedom, and she was going to stay in a nice hotel, out in the human world for a few days, until she found herself a job to go to.

She headed up to the Luna Suite to start moving those boxes down to her car, found Kane sitting in the foyer watching her as she did so and questioned him why? He smiled at her, part of the mating alliance. The new Luna is not allowed to harm you we’re to see you safely out of the pack.

Belladonna

She took her time to put everything in the car and walked them down the stairs. This had been her home for eight years and was her way of saying goodbye, she thought absently as she closed the Luna Suite door for the final time.

Bella had felt Parker leave the pack territory about 10 minutes ago. She thought that was a very odd thing for him to do, and she could see that his car was still there over in the parking lot. So, he must have stalked out of the pack on foot. His whole unit was still here she realised, he’d gone off on his own she knew, because she could feel all the boys and they were there inside the packhouse from what she could tell. Well, she knew where Kane was.

Bella shook her head, she’d never understood him, and why, when she’d given him permission, he didn’t just go and claim his new Mate. Surely he had to be itching to, but no, he’d gone off out of the pack. She strolled down the stairs and wondered if that new mate had gone with him. They could probably go out and Mark and Mate outside the pack. That wouldn’t breach the mating alliance.

Though that was now also null and voided, so it didn’t really matter, if she was him he’d be off marking and mating, getting rid of memories of the mate he’d chosen, just to be rejected.

She nodded to Kane as she walked past him and headed outside the packhouse for the last time, and she saw Becky out there, standing watching her, looking at her worriedly. She wasn’t the only one watching her, either there were several pack members standing out here looking at her.

Though none of them approached her. She sighed a little and walked over to them, smiled at them gently and then looked at Becky. “I’m certain everything will be just fine.” Bella tried to reassure her.

“I’m due tomorrow, and your leaving today. You’re supposed to deliver my pup.” Becky murmured.

“I am.” Bella nodded “Annette will do that now. If you’re really worried about it, I’ll contact Shannon, and he can come and be in the delivery suite with you. I’m sure he won’t mind if I ask him for one last request.”

“But you’ve never lost a pup, or one of us,” Becky half whispered.

Bella sighed a little and hugged her, knew that Becky had lost two pups prior to Bella being brought here, and that her last pup had been a difficult birth as well. It had gotten a little on the hairy side for all those in the delivery room.

“Everything will be fine, just breathe and stay calm, like you did when having Hope,” she told her. “Have a little faith that this little girl will be all good as well…” she looked at the woman, she was more than anxious “you know… I don’t have to leave right away. What say we go for a walk before I go, hey?”

Becky nodded “Do you know anything about the new Luna we’re getting?” she asked.
