Chapter 6 – His Replica Mate

“Mommy.”

“Mommy.”

“Mommy.”

They said in unison as they ran toward me with their nanny right behind them and Zoey smiling at me. I bent down to get a closer look at my babies.

“How are you? Hope you had fun at school today.”

“Yes, Mommy,” they replied.

“Have you had your dinner?” I asked them as we all walked back into the house.

The three of them immediately grew quiet and stared at the floor, avoiding eye contact.

“Liam? Have you and your siblings had dinner?” I asked the eldest of my three munchkins.

He finally looked up at me with his cute hazel eyes that reminded me so much of his father.

“No, Momma. We wanted to have dinner with you,” he told me. Immediately, the other two looked up at me with the same cute expressions.

Well, there was no way I could get mad now.

“That’s so sweet of you guys. All right, let’s go have dinner. It’s already late, and you’re supposed to get ready for bed.”

We all headed to the kitchen, deciding to have dinner there instead of the dining room. The nanny and Zoey had already prepared dinner, so I helped them dish it out, and we all ate together.

Since it was already past their bedtime, the kids were getting cranky, so I asked the nanny to bathe them and put them to bed.

“Goodnight, my babies,” I told them, kissing all three on their foreheads.

“Goodnight, Momma,” they said in sleepy voices.

They all went ahead with their nanny, and she was about to leave with them when she turned around.

“Lena, this letter arrived for you while you were at work today.”

She handed me another letter with the Moon Shadow Pack seal on it.

“Thank you, nanny,” I told her, and she left the kitchen to take care of the kids.

“Is that what I think it is?” Zoey asked me, anger flashing on her face.

“Yes, it’s another letter from the Moon Shadow Pack-from Leo. I knew this wasn’t over.” I told her I hoped the feeling I’d had all week was wrong, but this letter proved otherwise.

“So, are you going to open it, or just keep staring at it?” Zoey asked.

“If I don’t open it, I can just pretend I never got it,” I said. But a part of me wanted to know what the letter said.

“You have to open it, Lena,” Zoey said, always the voice of reason.

I broke the seal and opened the letter. I read its contents for a few minutes, then let out a huge gasp.

“What is it, Lena? What does it say?” Zoey asked anxiously.

“It’s Leo. He said he’s willing to give me half of the pack’s land and wealth if I’m able to find a cure,” I told her, then handed her the letter to read herself.

When she finished, a look of shock appeared on her face.

“Well, this certainly changes things. Him offering you half of the pack’s land and wealth must mean things are really bad and he’s desperate. So, what are you going to do?” she asked.

“I have no idea.”

-Alpha Leo’s POV-

In the office, I’m going through files and documents, trying to come up with a solution to the deadly disease that has befallen my people, my kingdom. I’m worried sick; my people are depending on me, hoping on me, and I don’t know what to do.

Still lost in thought, Beta Zeo walks in.

“Alpha, I found a doctor who can help us,” he says, holding some documents with information about the doctor.

I look up at him with a small smile.

“Let me see,” I say as he hands me the papers he brought with him.

While I’m going through the documents, he begins to explain.

“Her name is Doctor Lena Everhart, and she’s currently staying in the Crescent Pack. She’s the doctor who cured and saved the Nightwalker Pack when a deadly disease befell them. She’s currently running a single mothers foundation, encouraging single mothers. She…”

I cut him off before he finishes.

“Send her a letter as soon as possible, requesting her urgent presence. The disease is almost wiping out members of the pack. Also, offer a reward if she accepts and helps eradicate the disease,” I tell Beta Zeo.

“Okay, Alpha,” he replies and heads out to carry out the instructions.

I breathe a sigh of relief as he walks out the door. I say a silent prayer to the moon goddess that this doctor will help us. I let out another sigh and continue attending to the documents on my desk.

It’s been three days, and still no response from Doctor Lena. My people keep dying every day that passes by. I sit down in my office, thinking, worried, as all hope seems lost.
