Chapter 66 – His Replica Mate

“Something like that,” Freya answers.

“I don’t blame you. She’s lucky that I’m stuck in this house all day. If not, the things I’ve imagined doing to her… I know she’s a werewolf and would definitely overpower me, but I’d make sure to land a few good hits first,” Zoey says.

No, these two together-it’s like fire and gasoline.

“Alright, both of you, please behave. Don’t go giving each other any ideas,” I tell them.

Zeo and I walk out, but I don’t miss the peck he leaves on Zoey’s cheek or the fact that she doesn’t complain or shove him off when he does it.

Just as we’re about to walk out the front door, I hear little footsteps pattering behind me. I turn around to see it’s Karla.

“Where are you going, boss man?” she asks me. God, she’s so cute, and I still can’t believe that Lena and I made her. She’s perfect. All three of them are perfect.

“Hey, little lady. Your uncle Zeo and I need to go get something,” I tell her.

“Is it for the cure for the sick children?” she asks.

“Yes, it’s for the cure,” I reply.

She takes a deep breath, closes her eyes, and I’m confused as to what’s happening. Then she opens her eyes, and there’s this huge grin on her face.

“Your heartbeat is calm and steady, which means you’re telling the truth. See you soon, Leo,” she says, then hugs my legs and runs back to the living room.

“What the hell just happened?” I ask Zeo, who doesn’t look confused at all.

“Her abilities are starting to come in. Zoey said they always thought it would be like this. The night you guys left, that’s when it happened. She was so scared, so I explained it to her and then taught her how to tell if someone is lying or telling the truth. Lena’s going to kill me for that one,” he says.

I’m smiling, a huge grin on my face, because my daughter is coming into her abilities. But I’m also sad and hurt that I wasn’t there.

“Thank you, man. I’m glad you were there for her,” I tell Zeo, and I mean it.

“Does Lena know?” I ask him as we get into the car.

“No, she doesn’t. Zoey decided not to tell her so she wouldn’t feel bad for leaving and missing it, but she’s going to tell her today,” he replies, and I nod my head.

“Hey, man, don’t get yourself down about this. She still has a lot of abilities left to discover, and the boys haven’t even started yet. You’ll be there for all of those,” he says, trying to cheer me up.

“Yeah, but for that to happen, I have to fix things first. Did you talk to Elijah?” I ask him.

“Yes, I did. He texted me just as we were leaving. He’s at the house and says he found something,” he replies.

“Okay then, let’s go.”

Alpha Leo’s POV

The drive back to the house only reminds me more of how this once joyful pack has turned into a wasteland. There’s no sign of life except for the weeds and the trees. The only time people actually come out is every two weeks to get their groceries from the truck that delivers them, and then they all rush back to their houses.

“How’s the clinic?” I ask Zeo.

“Still much the same. No one’s been admitted, but they’re still not getting better,” he replies.

“Well, hopefully before the week is out, we’ll have the cure, and all of this will be behind us. We can start the road to healing,” I tell him.

We reach the house. I park the car, and we both get out.

There used to be guards at the front of the double doors, but I had to put a stop to that because of the disease. I won’t make them guard me if there’s a risk they’ll get sick. I can protect myself.

We enter the house, and Elijah is in the living room waiting for us.

“Alpha Leo, Beta Zeo,” he bows his head in greeting.

“Thank you for coming, Elijah. I hope we haven’t kept you for long?” I ask him.

“No, I just arrived,” he replies.

“Okay, please have a seat,” I say, and we all sit down.

“So, Zeo tells me you might have something?” I ask him.

“Yes, I do. I was able to sneak in the cameras during the party. I got one in every room of the penthouse. I’m sorry to say, but Luna Scarlett was so drunk or high-I don’t know-that she didn’t notice anything. I was in and out of there with no problem. I was going through the footage of the party when I found this. Alpha Leo, I can tell you what’s there since I’ve already watched it,” Elijah explains.

“If what you’re about to show me is what I think it is, then there’s no problem, Elijah. You can show it to me,” I tell him.

“Okay,” he says, and then he opens up his laptop, pulls up a video, and turns it toward me so only I can see it.

At first, it’s just a video of a very well-furnished bedroom. You can tell that the items and furniture in there are expensive. So, this is what she has been spending my money on-buying penthouses and furnishing them to throw lavish parties while her pack suffers.

The door opens, and two people making out step into the room. The guy throws the woman on the bed, and that’s when I see her face-it’s Scarlett. I guess you can already tell what happens next, and I already know what’s about to come, but I don’t stop the video. No, I watch every last second of it. I make sure it’s imprinted on my mind.

Because even though we’ve drifted apart, it doesn’t change the fact that I loved her before. I truly did. And even though I suspected that this might be happening, it’s one thing to suspect, and it’s another thing entirely to see the actual evidence of what you were suspecting.

This just brings everything to the forefront. The truth is, Scarlett never actually truly loved me. I mean, she left me the first time to get married to someone else, and even when we got together, it’s clear now that she didn’t do it for love. No, she did it for the title and the money.

I watch as another man fucks my wife and mate, turning her into different positions, and she enjoys every minute of it. When they’re done, I watch as they both walk into the bathroom, out of sight from the camera. But I’m certain they’re both taking a shower and probably continuing in there.

I close the laptop, run my hands through my hair, and take a few deep breaths so I don’t tear this house apart.

“Elijah, you’ve done excellent work. This is exactly what I needed. Thank you,” I tell him.
