We start laughing again and then after a while Renata starts asking questions. “Now that wall are relaxed, can someone explain to me what is going on with Rebel and her energy?”
I begin, wanting to get it over with, “Mom,” knowing she likes me to call her th, you understand I wasn’t well looked after growing up. That also includes my health. I may not be underfed, one cared about my nutrition growing up. If I wanted to eat, I had to cook for myself.. to school, I didn’t learn anything about proper eating habits.”
I am malnourished. No ce I wasn’t allowed to go
Renata looks heartbroken and upset but I continue, “While talking to Austin last week, I mentioned that I have never seen a pack doctor before and I don’t know why I run out of energy and get hungrier that other warriors despite having the strength and stamina to fight. Austin took me to the pack doctor, Dr. Hadley. After getting a very thorough examination, she said I had something called ‘polyphagia’. Basically, I had no real nutritional value in my food before coming to Blackstone. That coupled with stress and anxiety from my living environment, I developed this condition.”
“My dear sweet girl. No pup should be treated the way you were treated.”
“The good news in all of this, is my condition is reversible. My diet has changed and because I’m of Alpha blood, according to Dr. Hadley, that my body will recover quickly. Which is why I made the comment earlier, that I didn’t feel like I was starving after that battle. “I finished.
“Well, I’m glad you are here. You will be healthy here and I know my son will take care of you, or he will feel my wrath.”
I smiled lovingly at Renata, “I appreciate that mom.”
Austin interrupts, “First, mama, you need not worry about me taking care of my mate. Second, Rebel is only scratching the surface. There is another reason we need her recovered so quickly.”
“Is that so?” She looks at me expectantly.
I look down. I really hate having to repeat myself with my story, but I guess until everything is settled, I will have to relive everything. “I got my wolf early at age 12 mom. My father told me to keep it to myself but started training me privately. He would break my bones during training. Of the 23 breaks, there are two that didn’t set correctly. After the Luna Ceremony, Dr. Hadley is going to make sure I’m healthy enough to reset the two break that didn’t heal properly.”
I said everything quickly to get it over with, but when I looked up, Renata’s face was blood red. She looked like she was about to combust from anger.
“He broke your bones!” She hissed, “On purpose?”
“Yes, and that bastard is going to suffer much worse.” Austin growled. Shit, he’s angry again too.
I sigh, “Yes, and because I never saw a doctor, I had to set the bones myself. By the third time, I was able to se them all correctly. But the first two breaks, they were not done correctly. I mean, I was 13 years when the first one broke, so a pup learning medical procedures isn’t exactly an everyday thing.” I shrugged.
“I do not care his excuse. You are a special she-wolf to get your wolf at 12 years old. It makes sense you have Alpha Blood, but it goes beyond being an Alpha. He should have nurtured you to develop into a strong she-wolf that you are. All he did was abuse you and called it training so he could feel better about himself. Disgraceful wolf.” She huffed.
“Be that as it may, we are going the after the Luna Ceremony to see if I’m healthy enough to fix the two breaks correctly.” I said.
“You know nothing of your mother either. Only that she died giving birth to you?” Renata asked.
Austin speaks up, “Actually, we found out recently that Rebel’s mother was from the Rising Moon Pack in the Northeastern Region. I was planning on reaching out to them after Rebel’s ceremony.”
Renata’s eyes widen. “That’s why you look familiar. You look like Sydney!”
“You knew my mother?” I asked shocked.
“Yes, I knew her, but I still know Alpha Reid and Luna Adele. If Sydney is your mother, then hey are your grandparents.” She says pensively.
“What is it?” I ask when her face looks concerned.
“Your father said you and your mother both passed away. I have serious questions about him now Austin.” She said turning to her son.
“All of us do, mom.” I replied.
“Well, there is one thing I can certainly do for my new daughter. Consider it a Luna Ceremony gift.” Renata said.
“Mom, that’s not necessary- “I said when she interrupted me.
“Rebel dear, it is absolutely necessary. I’m calling your grandparents and I am inviting them to your Luna
Chopter 57
Ceremony!” She declared.
“You know how to reach them?” I said, and for the first time since learning about myself, I feel an uncontrollable urge to cry. “What if they reject me or don’t want me to be part of their family?”
“Darling, you have a family here, no matter what. But I doubt they will reject you. They may want to do a DNA test though, just to be sure, and I wouldn’t blame them.” Austin says holding me by my side.
“What is a DNA test?” I ask.
Jane speaks up, “It’s where they do a blood test and see if you are related. There will be markers in your blood that will tell determine the relationship, Rebel. That would be a good thing too. Then you can start learning about your family history and where you come from.”
“Really? That’s cool.” I said.
Austin smiled, “Very cool. But it would be cooler if we could go to my office and mom could call Rising Moon.”
Renata smiles, “Are we finished eating? I would like to call them right now.”
Mama has the hook up!
Rebel POV
I’m excited, nervous, and unsure about Renata making this call. She knows them. I didn’t expect to ever talk to them, much less have them come to my Luna Ceremony. What if they don’t like me? What if they think my background is a stain to their family’s reputation. All the things my father and his family said to me over the years is rearing its ugly head again and making me second guess if this is a good idea.
