“Hmm, do you know who these rogues are?” Alpha Alex asked me.
“No sir, this is the first time we have seen them,” I answered.
“I didn’t catch your name, miss.”
“My name is Nina and this here is Zach. We are from the Red Wood pack in Kansas” I said strongly.
“I see, well I would like to have you for dinner then, as a thank you for taking care of these rouges here for us. It is the at least we can do”, Alpha Alex said. I saw his warriors look between each other as we spoke. I didn’t get a bad feeling per say but not a good feeling either. “These are my warriors Kevin, Fred and Sally and this is my beta Al.” Alpha Alex finished
“With all due respect, Alpha, we are okay to head on out, no need to put you guys out” I said, a little unsure of this situation. I knew I was taking a risk. Generally, you do not say no to an Alpha, but for some reason Alpha auras never had an effect on me and Alpha Alex was not an exception.
“Hmm, well, unfortunately that was not a request. I assure you, you are not in any trouble nor will any harm come to you, but I will assist on feeding you guys.” Alpha Alex finished with a little smirk.
Nodding towards Fred, Kevin and Sally, they went to pick up the dead rouges and started carrying them back to the pack with us. We fell in step behind Alpha Alex. Beta Al was to the right of us and the warriors to the left. No one spoke and Zach followed my lead. He knew if I felt anything negative, I would have said so. He trusts me blindly.
After walking for about 30 minutes, we arrived at a large house. I didn’t realize we passed the pack’s boarders; I saw no guards or any gates. As reading my thoughts, Alpha Alex said, “Since we are close to the public, we do not have a gate to advertise our territory, so we do not attract attention and we patrol is minimal guards with more electronic security system but we do have wolves around.”
“I see” is all I responded with. I still have yet to decide what to think of this. As we approached the house, I was in awe of it. It is the size of a mansion. At least 5 stories high with a wooden cabin feel to it. It fit perfectly in with the forest that surrounded it. The front porch was wrapped around to the other side with dark wood beams holding up the roof. The French front doors opened and a beautiful girl walked out with a baby on her hip. She stood at 5’4 with flaming red hair and dark brown eyes. She was pale skinned but the baby was a mini version of Alpha Alex. He was easily 6’5??with sandy blond shoulder-length hair with blue eyes and pale skin.
“This is my mate and Luna, Laura, and our 5-month-old baby boy Axel” Alpha Alex said warmly as he wrapped his arm around her and gave her a small kiss on the forehead and ruffled Axel’s hair that swept below his ears.
“Nice to meet you, Luna Laura, my name is Nina and this is Zach” I said nicely.
“Nice to meet you too” Luna Laura said back with a questioning look towards Alpha Alex.
“These two managed to kill the 3 bandits” Alpha Alex said.
“Oh my” Luna Laura whispered, her eyes got large and she grabbed her heart.
“The what?” I asked. I turned and looked at Zach. He was standing right behind me with a confused look on his face. He was in protector mode but was not understanding what was being said.
“Come on inside and we will sit and eat supper and I will tell you all about them. I am wondering why they came after you in the first place”, Alpha Alex said. I got a very uneasy feeling like I was not going to like what I was about to hear.
The three bandits’ are a group of rogues you can call upon when you want to eliminate a target but don’t want to get your hands dirty. Most Alphas want to eliminate them ourselves since they cause so much destruction in their way, but nothing has been done about them because there is no proof left behind that they are the ones that did it.
They have never been caught to even integrate. The fact that you guys even saw them before they attacked and lived to tell the tale is impressive.” Alpha Alex finished staring straight at us. We were seated around the kitchen table waiting for supper and Alpha Alex wasted no time in telling us what was happening.
“I have never heard of them, but I guess I haven’t been part of any pack business before.” I stated, trying to rack my brains if my dad ever said anything about them. I remember, like maybe 5 years ago, dad coming home and saying something about 3 rouges on a killing spree, but I didn’t think much of it. Maybe I should have paid more attention.
“What are your ranks in the pack? You seem young but capable?” Luna Laura asked quietly.
Glancing over to Zach I hesitated for a second before answering, “My father was Beta Ben and my mother was a warrior. I have been trained to fight since the age of 5. This is Zach, who is also a warrior.”
“Was?” Alpha Alex asked. Damn, he caught that
I started fidgeting in my seat, I did not want to talk about this, “1, um, see there was a rouge attack a week or so ago and both my parents were killed, leaving me alone the day after I turned 18. 1 decided some traveling would do me some good so Zach, being a good friend, decided to tag along so I wouldn’t be alone.” I said, avoiding eye contact.
“But that’s not the whole truth, is it?” Alpha Alex asked, lifting an eyebrow at me. “I can tell when people are lying.”
“I can do that too, but I am not lying. I would rather not talk about my love life though.”
“And you don’t have to!” Luna Laura said, giving Alpha Alex a look. I gave her a silent thank you nod.
“I won’t have people in my pack that are keeping secrets, Laura!”
“Fine, I found out that my boyfriend of years was the mate to my best friend and then a couple of hours later the rouges attacked, so I lost my boyfriend, best friend and parents in the matter of hours. So, excuse me if I don’t feel like sharing my personal life with people who I don’t know” I stated, angrily with my eyes shining a brilliant emerald green and I was griping the table. Taking a deep breath, I rained in my anger and retracted my claws that slipped out.
“Interesting, well I do apologize for bringing up bad memories and for the loss of your parents That must be very hard for you” Alpha Alex said softly
“I rather just move on please.”
