Chapter 28 – New Pack for the Rejected

“It truly was an accident we were just horsing around throwing a baseball back and forth, playing hot potato with it, and it got away from us.”

“So, you decided to blame your sister rather than taking responsibility for what you did. That is not a sign of a good Alpha James. Have I ever shown you that you blame someone else for what you did?”

“No father.”

“I wonder what else you have blamed her for, and she has had to pay the price for. Because you didn’t take responsibility for it yourself? That is not how you run a pack

James, and now if I can’t trust that you will take responsibility for your own actions you will not get this pack. Do I make myself clear.”

“Yes father.”

“I do want you to go and apologize to Mr. Rickman and confess to whatactually happened, do

I make myself clear on that note as well?”

“Yes father.”

“You both have a lot to make up for, you both need to apologize to your sister as well, and Jessie there is only one way to fix your rejection, but you will have to figure that out on your own. You, my leave.”

KESKA: “Well that’s a first, but I am not going to let my guard down I don’t trust that something won’t happen, and I will end up paying some form of punishment.” I say through the link to both Nana and Mackie. “But I will say good night and see you both tomorrow.” I closed the link, and after everything I said all, he took away from it is Mr. Rickman’s broken window, I just shook my head, went to my room, and locked my door, I don’t trust Jessie.

JAMES: We walked a short distance from the office door, and I turned to her. “You couldn’t leave well enough alone could you Jessie? Anything to get Kes into trouble, what is wrong with you? Now we have to go confess to old man Rickman, about something that happened a year ago, that is going to look pretty damn stupid.” I seethe at her.

“How the hell was I supposed to know that when a rejection was accepted that it would break the link? They didn’t teach us that.” She says back. I just shook my head and walked away from her.

DRAKE: “I fear that I have lost Keska.” I say to my mate. “Why would you say that?”

“Because as she said I never did ask her, her side of the story I just took the twin’s word for everything. I never gave her a chance and now she won’t even take the opportunity to tell her side, she just accepts the punishment and won’t even look at me.”

CARLA: “I fear I am not much better.” I told my mate. “Well, she at least still calls you mom, all I get from her is “yes father, no father, you wanted to see me father.” I don’t get dad, or daddy from her anymore, just the cold formality of respect, not the warmth of love and family.” He tells me and I can hear the pain in his voice and see it on his face.

“But I guess we now know what happened a month ago, and what the rejection I felt was, I just wish she would have said something.” I said. “Would it have mattered? Like she said, it was Jessie. Maybe she did, just not to us.”

He says. “What do you mean?”

“Maybe she said something to your mother? After all she was linked to her.”

“I will check with her in the morning, but right now we need to get dinner.”

KESKA: I had finished my homework and was just laying on my bed listening to a mix of some of my favorite music, of the late 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s, don’t ask me why but there is something to be said for Peter Paul and Mary’s “Don’t think twice.” Followed up by Richie Sambora’s “Stranger in this Town.” Then back to “Mahogony, and some Led Zepplin.” It just kind of sooth me. It was about 6:30 when mom linked me.

*”Come down for dinner.”

“ok”* I got up unlocked my door looked around, I didn’t see either of the twins’ I locked my door and went down to the kitchen. “Hi Sarah” I greeted our cook. “Hello Kes, what are you in the kitchen for?”

“Mom said to come down for dinner, so here I am, is there anything I can help with?”

“You go to the family dining room I can manage.” She tells me. I really don’t want to go into the family dining room, but I go and take my seat across from Liam at the end of the table.

DRAKE: “Graduation is a week away, your mother and I have decided to keep it a small affair, as we will be hosting a mating ball for your 18th birthday, so think about who you want to be at your graduation other than pack members. Also keep in mind that whomever you choose will more than likely be traveling twice in a very short amount of time.” Dinner was being served during this conversation. “Mimi and Papa Sutter for sure.” Jessie pipes up.

“Adrian and Kina would be nice.” James says. “The Alpha and Luna from High Crest pack, Lukas and Jewel with their two kids Josh and Leasha” Jessie chimes in. “What about Alpha Ty, and Luna Tara from Cold moon Pack with their twins Blake and Blane.” Lissa says.

The twins nodded at her suggestion. “There’s the Alpha and Luna from Dutch Wood Pack Shane and Avery with Colton and

Janica.” Liam puts his two cents into the mix. Again, the Twins’ nod.

JESSIE: “Good, I think that is a good mix of people and nobody is fighting with anybody in that grouping, it should be fun.”

CARLA: “Keska is there someone you wish to add?” I watch as she looks at me like I have two heads. “No, why would I?

this is for James, Jessie and Wyatt, if anything you should be asking him who he wants, it has nothing to do with me.”

She says with no emotion to her voice at all.
