“Our circumstances are different, I for one was defiled by the Alpha’s son, and when I reported it, no one believed me and I was demoted and mistreated so I left the pack after my eighteenth birthday, I found Kareen caring for six children alone, her pack was burned to ashes in a war for dominion, and the others just joined us along the way,” She explained.
“Believe it or not, The “Golden Stone Pack is the only one that didn’t chase us from their territory, they are skeptical of us and watch us like hawks to see we don’t cause any trouble but they even allow us to at least inside their gates and markets, sometimes even give us medical care which is what we most need after the influenza outbreak in our young ones,”
“Have you tried to talk to the Alpha, maybe he can find you a place to stay inside, and who knows, some of you can find jobs and the kids can go to school,” I advised.
“No, we wouldn’t want to overstep. Honestly, Luna, us staying here is enough, no one can attack because we are so close to the fiercest pack,” Kareen was walking toward us now.
“But you can’t stay here forever, you need more,” I insisted.
“We hunt, and do what we can… Besides, the Alpha is too busy to even speak to any of us, I tried to ask in the past but we couldn’t get past the first office,” She sighed. After having a chat with the two women, Kareen holds both my hands and bends down to kiss each.
“May you always be blessed and I’m… we are so overwhelmed that you even came, thank you so much,” She croaked, and I wiped her tears away.
“You’re welcome, I wish I can do more,”
“You’ve done so much, Luna Caliana,” The man came too.
‘Where are you?’ I jumped at the Alpha’s voice in my head. He was angry.
‘I’m at the border, with the strays,’
‘You can’t fucking leave the pack grounds!’ He growled, and I decided to block him out, I could feel he still wanted to talk.
I bid everyone good night and they thanked me, I quickly got in the car and left the place before my mate marched here to cause chaos.
“Olivia is really cute, do you think-” Ron stopped talking and stopped the car abruptly, if I wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, I would have hit my head against the front seat. Ron worriedly looked at me
“Are you alright?” He asked, worried.
“Yes, what happened,”
“The Alpha,”
Caliana’s POV
I got out of the car to face my mate, his three brothers were slightly standing behind him, letting all the glory shine on him. Alpha Edward looked angry at me. I didn’t say a word until he did.
“Why did you leave the pack?”
“I had matters to attend to outside the pack,” I spat, I close my eyes momentarily, I sound so bitter.
“You should have told someone!” He hissed.
“Who?”
“Okay, okay enough,” Jamal approached me, kissing my cheek in a greeting.
“Caliana, we have enemies that are lurking around, wanting to break us and you just can’t leave the pack,”
“I was still in the territory,” I answered calmly.
“Why did you need to talk to those strays?”
“I saw them last time at the hospital and I really felt bad so I brought them supplies,” I informed them. Jamal looks surprised, sharing a look with his brothers before looking at Mr. Tim’s white van.
“That’s… Noble,” He smiled.
Alpha Edward growled in frustration and I rolled my eyes, he was getting on my nerves with his behavior.
“She’s not supposed to be out here and I don’t care how dignified her deed was, I won’t excuse that she put her life in danger,”
“There are kids there and-“
“You are not going back there again,” He declared, his eyes showed that I shouldn’t argue with him but I was determined to help those people
“Have you been there once? Any of you?” I questioned, “These people are outside your gates, suffering and you can end it by letting them in however, you choose to ignore them and treat them like rogues,”
“Enough!” He growled, making me flinch a little.
“You are not going back there and that is final,” He grounded, I groaned at the back of my throat and went back to the car without being dismissed, I was so furious!
“Drive,” I ordered the driver who was looking too shocked to say a word, lately that’s how Ron looked at me.
“The Alpha, Luna, he’s still standing,”
“Drive past him or hit him I don’t care, Ronald,” He reluctantly drove past his Alpha and I sighed once we were in the main gates. We got home and Ron opened the car door for me. I was still so pissed at the Alpha, at Candace and I hated that those poor folks were out there with kids, and none of them paid any mind to them. I put on a sports bra and shorts, I went straight to Garret’s room and he opened it,
“Caliana?” He yawned.
“Can you go to the field with me, like train me to be stronger?” He seemed surprised by my request but nodded his positive response.
“You know it’s 4 pm right?” He said. We jogged to the field and once we put our bags away, Garret and I took our stance and he started to give me fighting pointers.
We fought for an hour straight since I had this bottled-up anger within me. Landing a blow that sends him falling to the ground, I smile victoriously.
“Wow,” He clapped, “That was mad, you learn fast, Luna!” He praised me, standing up, and smiling at me.
“If you trained more, who knows what potential you could have reached,”
“But those two girls bested me,” I sighed, getting water to drink.
“What girls?” He asked and I chewed on my bottom lip, how did I let it slip?
“Caliana, was it Candace and June that attacked you?” He asked and I nodded my head, there was no need to keep it from Garret.
“I’m going to kill them!” He growled angrily. I was touched that he wanted to do that for me, that he was angry someone hurt me.
