Life’s Spiced Up with Some Werewolf Reads

Chapter 14 – Fated Is Overrated

I guess I’ll have to boobytrap the house like the little kid in home alone. I take a deep breath and sign while slumping my head down, forgetting for a moment that I am not alone in the room. “I wish you would have confided in me sooner Lola. I know it was a tough position considering the future Alpha and Beta are involved, but you know it would have only continued down the same road if they had not been caught in the act today” I can’t help but my mumble softly that it is going to continue now anyway, if I even make it through another day now. I thought I had said that too soft but of course, as a werewolf, the principal caught it.

“Young lady I know it is hard for you to trust others, trust me I do. But please allow me to prove to you that you can trust me. I am not deaf, nor blind. I have known what has been going on for years but I have never been able to catch them in a punishable offence. Up until now that is.

Of course as the future Alpha and Beta their punishment will be downsized, but rest assured I won’t let this slip and they will leave you alone from now on”.

I look up from my lap and give the principal a sad smile. I appreciate his concern and efforts, but there is no way they are going to stop and especially not after everything that went down today. “Thank you sir, I appreciate the concern” is all I manage to say, while thinking through my situation and what this means. “Don’t thank me Lola, I genuinely care for your wellbeing. I know you are not treated well within this pack and I hope you find genuine happiness one day, may it be within or out of this pack.

Also, if you want to take leave for the rest of the day please feel free to do so”. His words actually move me a lot and for the first time since my mother passed I feel tears at the back of my eyes. He is showing me the concern and sympathy I never received from my father. “Thank you sir, I appreciate those words more than you realize” I tell him with a small smile. I get up from my seat and head out.

Contemplating for a moment on whether or not I want to take my leave, I decide I will this time. I need to go for a run and some fighting lessons to get my frustration out of the way and to make sure I am physically ready for what is to come. The stronger the body, the better it will recover.

After having completely drained my body with a run and my lessons, I start walking my way home again. Deciding this time to take a different route than normal, in order to avoid coming into contact with anyone from school. It’s quite a detour, but I have completely drained myself and I am exhausted. Walking back I see some messages from Nadia and Jason, asking where I am. I completely forgot to text them and I really should have as they are now worried after what happened a few weeks ago.

I reply them both saying I left school early after an altercation with Chris and Ashton, saying I’ll explain in detail later. After the walk is finally over and I have reached home I release a sigh of relief, finally home and what a day this has been. I step inside and lock the door behind me. I head to the bathroom and put on the shower whilst checking my phone from the messages I have missed. I have tons of missed calls from Nadia and Jason, wondering why as I had just texted them earlier.

I also see some new messages from both of them. Both of them seem to be anxious to talk to me as I have a few messages from either of them urging me to call them. Finally the last message from Nadia actually conveys the message “girl there are rumors all over school indicating you got into a physical fight with Ashton! Are you all right?! What happened?

Do you have any injuries?” and the list of questions about my wellbeing goes on and on. I decide to reply briefly “yeah, I did. But I am all right really, don’t worry. I just got home and am going to take a shower now. Please also tell Jason I’m good as I see a bunch of missed calls from you both”.

Before I can put my phone down, a text message from an unknown number comes in. My curiosity gets the better of me as I open the message to read “you’re dead b*tch”. As I don’t have either of the guy’s numbers it could be from any of them, but I decide I’m not going to reply anyway. Nadia sends another message saying she and Jason are coming over tonight whether I like it or not and I decide it’s time to put my phone down and head for a nice relaxing bath to soothe my score muscles, and perhaps I can think a bit more clearly about what the best course of action is to survive the last week before my shift.

Lola POV

Having spent goddess knows how long in my bath tub, my hands are starting to wrinkle. I get pulled from my safe haven by hearing my phone ringing. Meh, by the time I am out of the tub I’ll be too late to pick up anyway, so I decide to let it ring whilst slowly ascending from the tub. The phone stops ringing as I take a towel to dry my hair. Before I can move onto drying my body I hear the phone ringing yet again.

Yugh, impatient much! Whoever it is, it can wait a little after the day I have had. By the time I am done drying my body and wrapping the towel around me, it starts ringing again. This time I decide to head out of the bathroom and check my phone on the nightstand, to see it is actually Alpha Culio calling me. Nerves start to sneak up on me as I have never in my life received a direct call from the Alpha.

And after today, this can’t be a good thing! I might get forced out of the pack for my disrespect, which means I won’t get to graduate. My hands are slightly trembling when I finally pick up the phone “A- Alpha Culio, w-what may I help you with?” I stutter out, sounding like a complete midi*t and guilty already with my stuttering. “Lola, I heard there was an incident at school today. I need you in my office in 30 mins, understood?” “Y-Yes Alpha” is all I manage to say before he ends the call.

I am in deep sh*t. Looking at the clock, it’s already around dinner time and I know Nadia and Jason would be coming over soon, so I text Nadia saying I’ll call when available and that Alpha Culio needs to speak with me. Not waiting for a reply I start getting ready, as I still need to cover some distance to the pack house and I have 30 minutes.

Chris’s POV

After the altercation earlier, none of the guys or me have seen Lola in class anymore, nor in the cafeteria at lunch. She must have been excused by that poor excuse of a principal. I am the future Alpha of this pack and he should be careful who to side with. At lunch I decide that we will address her tomorrow, as she seems to have left the school premises already. That’ll give us some time to come up with a good plan on how to teach her a lesson.
