Council-member Boaz tells Umayza that she will be staying at the Academy and that she will get a protection detail to make sure her Grandparents can’t get to her. Gray will start instructing a class of Assassins in a few days, and Umayza will start her training in about two weeks.
Before she starts her training, she will have to get to know her protection detail, and they have to get to know her, as they will be spending a lot of time together. Once they know each other’s weaknesses and strengths, Umayza will be able to start her training.

We were sent on assignment the morning after the accident, and halfway through the morning, Council-member Dayanah informed us that Umayza was awake-that she was already walking around in her room. Captain looked relieved to find out she was doing okay, and it settled Mylo down.
By the time we got back to the Academy, we had been gone for almost three weeks, and I couldn’t wait to see our little Mate. But I was also very nervous, as we didn’t know what her presence would do to us or our Lycans. Conri and I had decided to leave her a note if it became too much for us to be around her.
Captain Armand stops as we round the corner towards the training grounds, and we all follow his line of sight to see seven people training privately. Six of them are circling one person, and Mylo actually starts growling in my head as one male starts to advance towards the person in the middle.
We all start laughing as he suddenly flies over another male and slams to the ground face first, but the guy just gets up with a huge grin on his face. “Nicely done, little Ghost,” he says towards the group, and I wonder who this person is that sent him flying.
“You are getting better, day by day. I still can’t believe you are this good without your Wolf,” he says. My head snaps towards Conri, and I know he is thinking the same thing I am-Umayza. The group steps aside as he walks back towards them, and there she is with a huge smirk on her face and her hands on her hips.
“I told you she would kick your ass, Axel,” a female says as the rest of them laugh their asses off. “She has come a long way in the past three weeks,” I hear a voice behind us, and we turn around to be faced with Gray.
“She has been training with them ever since she was released from the infirmary. For the past few days, she has been attending the Academy as well. She really loves to hear the history of Humans, Werewolves, and Lycans. Council-member Armas says he has never had a student this interested in history, and we all know he has been around for a while,” Gray says, and we chuckle at his remarks.
“Captain, can I borrow Theron for a moment?” Umayza asks, and before he can respond, Theron is already running towards her.
“What do you need me for?” he asks her, and she leans closer to tell him something, making Mylo growl in my head.
Theron just nods his head as Umayza takes a few steps back. Theron takes a stance I am all too familiar with, and my heart starts pounding in my chest as I realize what she asked of him.
“Whenever you are ready, Theron,” Umayza says with a very confident look on her face.
She is no match for Theron with or without her Wolf, and I take a step forward to put a stop to this. But before I can say anything, Theron charges towards her. Just before he reaches her, she ducks to roll through his feet, and in the process, she slams a fist to the back of one of his knees, making him slam to the ground with a huge thud.
Callan is laughing his ass off as Theron rolls on his back to look at Umayza. “Fuck, woman. How the hell did you manage to do that?” he mutters, and I can’t hold my laughter in as I see the smug look on Umayza’s face. She just shrugs her shoulders before she holds her hand out to help him back up.
Conri
My heart slowly descends from my throat, and slowly but steadily, my heartbeat returns to normal. Umayza just knocked a Lycan to the ground with just one blow-she didn’t knock him out, but it would give her enough time to get away if someone wanted to harm her.
Theron gets to his feet with the help of Umayza, and he tells her she did a great job. “You will get even better once your Wolf and you have shifted for the first time. I’ll remember to stay on your good side, because I don’t want to find out if you can actually kick my ass,” he says.
We watch her as she keeps training with her group, but there is something not adding up here, and I have no idea what that is. The more people arrive on the training grounds, the stranger Umayza’s team starts acting, and after another hour, Axel walks up to her.
He puts his arm around her shoulder, and a low growl escapes my lips as Kane is not appreciative of his actions. Evander puts a hand on my shoulder, and I am reminded of the fact that we can’t let her know what she is to us. I take a deep breath as I nod my head at him.
Evander was right when he told me yesterday that we would not be able to hide it from her if we spent any time around her, and even though I hate to admit it, he was right when he suggested staying away from her until she turned eighteen.
“How do you plan on doing this?” I ask Evander. I don’t have to explain anything to him, and I know he is thinking about the best way to do this.
My head moves towards the training grounds, but our little Mate is no longer there.
“She went inside with her team,” Theron says as he sees me looking around the training ground. “We have a debriefing with Council-member Armas in ten minutes. Let’s go inside. Captain and Callan are already on their way up to the Council’s Chamber.”
Evander and I follow Theron into the Academy as we talk through our mind-link.
