He frowned for a second before nodding, letting me know to put the things in the drawer. I took a deep breath and turned around to walk toward his dresser, slowly opening the closet, careful not to wrinkle any of his clothes before placing them inside the drawer.
I smiled once I was done, satisfied with my work before I jumped when I saw his reflection right behind me. He didn’t move for a few seconds before extending his hand to my neck, keeping his eyes on mine through the mirror. I gulped and my heart raced as I feared what was to come, I should have known better than to think that I was safe here. I clenched my fist, preparing for the hell that was to come before his hand landed on the bruise that was on my neck.
“Who hurt you?” He asked, his voice softening. Sparks coursed through my body at his touch, and the man frowned before removing his hand slowly. His finger still brushed over the bruise, but I could tell that he was having a mental battle before he shook his head.
“I’m not really sure,” I lied, not wanting to talk about it. He raised an eyebrow at me before nodding in response. He didn’t say another word as he took a step back. He walked toward the bathroom and I couldn’t help but let out a breath that I held, my heart still raced, and despite my fear, I turned around just in time to see him coming back with an ointment in his hand.
He opened the cap and slowly approached me, his eyes meeting mine, and the two of us frowned as I found myself getting lost in his gaze. He didn’t say a word, if anything, he simply stared at me, reading my expression before extending his hand. I jumped and went to take a step back, and he froze, shaking his head in question. “It’s going to soothe the pain and would also help it heal,”
“I…”
He didn’t say a word for a few seconds as he applied the cream on my neck, and I couldn’t help but hiss in pain when he pressed on it. Elton was always sure to not only leave a mark, but to ensure that I would feel it for days as it healed, and this was just one of them. Though what it was for, I didn’t even know this time. But then again, I rarely ever knew why I mostly had to taste his wrath on a daily basis.
“One thing that I want you to start learning about me, malyshka,” Alpha Killian said, closing the cap as he was done. He didn’t bother looking at me for a few seconds, but his voice sent shivers down my spine as he spoke, and I couldn’t help but feel my heart race as fear coursed through my veins at his cold tone, “I don’t like liars.”
“Alpha…”
“A liar is a backstabber, and I stab those who think that they can fool me.” He said, stopping me. My heart raced against my chest as his eyes met mine. His gaze scared me and I had to admit, it took everything in me not to flinch or take a step back as I feared him hurting me. “Consider this your first warning. And I am only giving it once because I believe that this is something that you don’t want to talk about.”
I looked down at my feet, avoiding his eyes before he took a step back. “You can leave if you’re done. And if you don’t have anything else to do, call it a night,”
He walked toward the bathroom again, and I could hear the water run as he probably washed his hands. I put my hand on my neck for a second, processing the fact that he took a moment to put ointment on an injury that I had. My heart swelled, and I couldn’t help but frown at the contentment that my wolf suddenly felt.
The Alpha turned the water off, and snapping myself out of my daze, I was quick to rush out of the room, not wanting to get on his bad side, more than I probably did already, on my first day. And this was only one bruise that he saw. I didn’t want to think or consider what he would do if he saw the ones that I had on my stomach, back, and thighs.
I was just thankful for the fact that the dress hid them for me. To say the least, I wouldn’t have to be lying to him. Especially since it was the last thing that I would ever want to do. I didn’t want to get on his bad side, the man was treating me well and I knew that he didn’t deserve my lies.
However, I wasn’t stupid.
I was dead the second that he found out who I was.
If it wasn’t him, it would Elton.
And that wasn’t something that I wanted to risk.
Not now, and not ever….
Killian:
I frowned as a clench made me freeze as I stopped in front of the sink, washing the ointment from my hand.
The fact that the woman lied to me annoyed me more than I thought that it would, and considering that she was mostly either flinching or weary about her every move that she made only made me grow a lot more curious.
I knew that she was still in my room, clearly debating or processing my words for a few seconds before she walked out, and I sighed, letting out a low breath before taking my jacket off.
I needed to instruct Liana about getting the blood off my clothes after the encounter with Sergio earlier today. The Bernardi family were clearly making it obvious that they were not leaving without causing a fuss, and not that I expected any less anyway.
They were often ones to come and leave with a fuss or carnage. This time, I just hoped that things would have settled when the wedding ended. But now I had a missing bride to worry about.
The thing was, I couldn’t really blame the woman for running away. If anything, her getting married to the barbarian was something that I was surprised about. But she might have come from that barbaric side, therefore, I wouldn’t have expected any less.
I walked out of the bathroom just as my phone rang, and I raised an eyebrow when I saw that it was Vladimir.
