The fear that I lived through was one that I wasn’t going to go through again.
Elton was not here, there was no reason for my wolf to be scared. I took deep and slow breaths, not wanting to sink into a dark abyss that I fought entering as I lived at that Estate by his side.
“No one is going to hurt me here,” I said, voicing out my thoughts. I got up from the floor and walked out of the bathroom to quickly get dressed before the scent of the woman who had entered the Alpha’s room filled my nostrils.
I frowned and shook my head at the annoyance that I felt. My heart raced, but I didn’t bother as I put on my dress and apron. I had to admit, the fact that I was able to wear panties and shorts under the dress was something that I was thankful for.
According to Liana, it would give us easier mobility without worrying that we would have our underwear showing. That was something that I was never allowed to do or have, as according to Elton, it blocked his easy access when he needed it.
I walked out of the room to find the woman in front of me. Alpha Killian had his arm wrapped around her, but he quickly let her go as he took sight of me. He frowned, his eyes meeting mine for a second before I looked down at my feet and walked out of the suite to get him his coffee.
The woman walked out a minute later, but I didn’t bother turning to look at her as I entered the kitchen. Liana looked at me and nodded, silently greeting me. I nodded back and walked toward the coffee machine to prepare the Alpha’s coffee.
I put the coffee cup on the tray and walked out of the kitchen toward the suite without saying a word. I knew that we still had to have breakfast, but I also knew that considering the fact that the Alpha was awake that I had to give him his coffee. I didn’t want to deal with more issues with him after the bruising thing yesterday, and the fact that I knew that he might keep it in mind was something that worried me.
I still didn’t know how Elton didn’t spread the word yet about me being missing, or maybe he has, maybe he was using my Italian name Alienor, the name that my father had called me when my mother chose my name Eleanora.
I knocked on the door twice before opening it, knowing that the Alpha was in the bathroom, it was only customary that I knocked on the door as instructed by Liana. I set the coffee on the coffee table but was surprised when the Alpha walked out of the bathroom with his towel wrapped around his torso. Water dripped from his hair on his shoulders, and though I did try to walk out, he let out a low growl, warning me to stop.
I closed my eyes and shook my head in question as I looked down at my feet, avoiding his eyes. He walked toward me and put his finger under my neck, sending shivers down my spine as goosebumps ran through my body.
My heart raced against my ribcage, and the Alpha frowned in confusion for a few seconds before he opened his mouth to speak.
“How is your neck?” He asked, taking me off guard. He let my chin go and looked at where the bruise was, eyeing it carefully for a few seconds before he looked me in the eye, his gaze softening. My heart swelled and I couldn’t help but find my body heating as I blushed momentarily before forcing myself to snap out of my sudden gaze.
I was never asked by anyone about the bruises that I got. Not even my father who was mostly used to seeing me in such a state. In his mind, Elton wouldn’t hurt me, and in theory, he didn’t when he knew that father was coming. The bruises on my neck were often thought to be love bites, though that was far from true, and the real bruises were often hidden under my clothes.
Regardless, even if I did tell him that I was being hurt, in his mind it would be my fault. And of course, he would go on ahead and tell Elton what I said, that would lead to more punishments the second my father set foot out of the Estate or when it was night.
“It is well, thank you.” I said, putting my hand on the bruise. In truth, I didn’t even check to see it nor did I pay attention to the fact of whether or not it was there. I had gotten so used to having bruises on my skin that the idea of having my skin being clear for once was far too surreal for me to think of believing.
“Did you get anything to eat?” He asked, and I shook my head.
“Not yet, no. But I am going to go now and will be back to clean your room when I’m done.” I said and he nodded. “Is there anything in particular that you want me to do?”
“Change the sheets, there are clean duvets inside the closet, and take these to be washed.” He said and I nodded. I took a step back and walked out of the room without saying a word. I could feel his eyes on me as I closed the door and took a deep breath, I couldn’t help but put my hand under my chin as a different feeling coursed through my veins.
The way his eyes met mine and the way his finger gently touched me, careful not to hurt me. For once, someone actually chose to be gentle with me, and that wasn’t something that I was used to. If anything, it was the exact opposite.
“Eleanor,” Natasha called, her voice taking me off guard as I walked out of the suite. I smiled as she ran toward me, and I couldn’t help but blush when she wrapped her arm around my shoulder, guiding me toward the kitchen as if we’ve known one another for a long time.
“Good morning, Natasha.” I said, choosing to be polite.
“You need to start getting out of that suite a bit,” she said, and I frowned in confusion. “None of us have seen you yesterday, and to say the least, it would help you out if you choose to at least hang out with us during meal breaks.”
“I was busy yesterday. Plus, your mom and I had lunch together,” I said as we entered the kitchen. Liana smiled when she saw us and I couldn’t help but smile when I saw Natasha walking toward her. She kissed her mother’s cheek before picking up two plates and handing one to me.
“Well, we will have to see to having you have your meals here with us rather than alone at the kitchenette like some exile. To say the least, you would be able to hear about the gossip that goes around.” She said and I frowned. The last thing that I would have expected was for the maids to be speaking about gossip here.
I knew that it happened back at the pack, but it was also forbidden and those who did it were severely punished. Therefore, most would come to learn that it wasn’t something to do.
“Oh, you would be surprised what these girls know,” she said, and I shook my head as I fought back a laugh. “You’ll just have to wait and listen…”
