Life’s Spiced Up with Some Werewolf Reads
Prince Aurelius returns home early from a diplomatic mission, surprising his father—the mighty dragon ruler Cassius Decimus—and unsettling rival houses eager for his downfall. Torn between duty and doubt, Aurelius faces a court rife with hidden agendas and a world where human technology threatens the survival of magic itself. But his true battle is only beginning.
“I think, given the circumstances, my family deserves to have a few secrets get out. I mean, we did kidnap you, right?” “Hmmm.” I tapped my finger to my chin and eyed him speculatively. “That’s true. Though, I don’t think people are supposed to walk around strange houses with dark and dangerous men.” “Do I…
He looked like he was about to say something else, but before he could, the door of my room burst open. Rasp came barreling out, eyes wide in horror. He nearly ran me over as he exited. “Oh, thank God!” he shouted, pressing a hand to his chest. “Shit! I thought you’d vanished.” “He means…
“Hello?” she muttered. “Bri?” “Yeah, it’s me.” “What’s wrong? Do I need to come to your room?” Glancing around at the suite, I chuckled. Doubtful. “I wanted to let you know I’d stepped out for the night. I’ll be home sometime tomorrow.” The last thing I wanted was to explain what was going on. Delphine…
“Oh shit,” Rasp said. “I almost forgot. Titus was putting some food in your room. You’ll have a snack before bed.” “Thanks,” I muttered as I followed the maid. Behind me, Vincent and Rasp trailed along like puppies. “So, I’m really sorry about all this,” Rasp said. “We thought we were doing you a solid.”…
“I suppose you’re right,” he said. “These last few weeks have been difficult. Benedictus has been pushing for us to be aggressive against the Laurents, and he’s beginning to gain traction with other noble houses. I truly missed you while you were away.” He gave me a sad smile. “I rely on you and your…
Silence washed across the massive building I called home as I walked the halls. Silence, but for what sounded like a muffled conversation. In the hallway leading to my room, I could pick out a couple of voices. Too quiet for me to make out the words or whether they were male or female. Perhaps…
With a sigh of relief, I went to work cutting the ropes. “Hey, uh, Aurelius, I could untie them for you,” Vince said. “I know ropes really well.” Brielle’s eyes widened in shock at the sound of my name. God, she didn’t even know who I was. “You-you’re Aurelius Decimus?” Gritting my teeth in irritation,…
“Let’s go,” he said, scooping me up. As he carried me into the room, Vincent appeared at the balcony in his dragon form. Where Rasp was an astonishing emerald-green, Vincent was the brown of a desert lizard or a snake. He also shifted and joined us in the room, closing the doors behind us. He…
“What is happening?” I asked, at last a hint of defeat in my voice. “Please tell me why you’re doing this.” “Sorry, babe,” Rasp said as he climbed into the driver’s seat. “Can’t do that yet.” He started the car, then turned back to face me. “Shit, are you, like, hungry or anything? I’ve got…
She was in the kitchen, loading dishes into the dishwasher. Her bright, platinum-blonde hair was pulled back in a ponytail, and a dish rag hung from her shoulder. “Hey. Want dessert first or dinner?” I asked, holding the bag up. Delphine rolled her eyes and tossed the rag down. “You and that damn cheesecake. Don’t…
