Life’s Spiced Up with Some Werewolf Reads

Chapter 1 – His Replica Mate

You’re two weeks pregnant, Luna Selene.

I arched my brows, utterly surprised when I heard the pack doctor break the news to me. I didn’t know whether to feel happy or sad, but I wanted to show my happiness.

A smile curved at the corners of my lips, and I wiped away the tears that brimmed in my eyes because the news was worth it.

I had been waiting to hear this for three years after I married my husband, Alpha Leo. Leo and I had been married for three years, but I hadn’t been able to conceive. I had one important duty: to bear him an heir for the future of the pack. Every day, the gossip about my inability to have a child grew more toxic.

Last time, Leo silenced those rumors and gossip, but I knew that as a strong and famous Alpha, he needed an heir to carry on his legacy. The pack needed an heir to ensure his bloodline would never end.

Three years ago, on my eighteenth birthday-the first day the moon goddess would present a wolf to me-I was working as a maid in the Blood Moon pack. That was where I saw Leo for the first time. At first glance, my wolf, Lena, immediately recognized him as our mate.

My parents were peasants, mostly working on the Alpha’s large farms so we could survive, while I worked in the mansion as a maid to further my education.

I thought that as an esteemed guest, Alpha Leo would never accept the mate bond, and I was ready for rejection. But surprisingly, he accepted the mate bond, and soon after, our wedding became the talk of the entire pack and many others beyond.

I was so happy, especially because I could prove wrong most people who looked down on me and my family.

“Luna Selene, are you all right?” I immediately jerked out of my thoughts when I felt a hand touch my shoulder.

“Oh, yes, doctor. I’m fine.”

I rose to my feet and picked up my bag. I had the calmest voice and a sweet smile that always melted people’s hearts.

“Congratulations once again, Luna.”

“Thank you so much.”

A few minutes later, I was out of the hospital. As I approached my car, I tucked my hand into my bag and took out my phone. I tried to reach Leo, but after several attempts, the calls wouldn’t connect. I went back home and decided to prepare a nice dinner for Leo. When I finished, I sat on the couch tiredly, waiting for his return.

Even after three hours, there was still no sign of Leo. I tried to reach him again, but the call still wouldn’t go through, so the only thing I could do was wait.

A few minutes later, I dozed off without realizing it because I was too tired.

I was awakened by the sound of the door, and I jerked upright in fear. It was still dark, but I could feel Leo’s presence. I called his name in fright, but there was no answer. Instead of responding, he accused me of deceiving him and called me despicable. His voice hit me like a rock, and my heart nearly sank.

“I want a divorce!” he yelled at me, but his first words left me confused, as I had no idea what was really going on.

Staring at him with watery eyes that I struggled to control, I begged to know what my offense was. I had always been an obedient Luna and, most importantly, a supportive one to him. What had I done?

I almost fell to my knees, trying to control the situation right in front of me.

“What is going on, Leo? Please talk to me. Say something! Say anything, please!” I begged him.

Now, I was on my knees, pleading to be told what I had done wrong.

“You heard me, Selene. I want a divorce, and I want you gone from my life for good.”

The tears I had been holding back finally fell from my eyes. I didn’t want to leave because, over the years, I had grown to love my husband with everything I had. I had no other choice. If Leo’s reason for saying all this was because I couldn’t conceive, then I needed to tell him the truth now.

“I’m pregnant! We’re having a baby together,” I informed him, hoping he would change his mind after hearing that.

But his words shocked me even more.

He backed away and then said, “Get rid of the baby. I don’t want someone like you bearing my child and heir to my pack.”

Those words shocked me deeply, making me feel as if I were in a bad dream I wanted to wake up from. Was this man standing before me really my husband? Was this the same Leo I had met on my eighteenth birthday?

“Why? Why are you doing this to me? To our baby?”

He seemed even angrier when I called the baby’s name a second time. I couldn’t believe his heartlessness; it made me think he was almost not human at all.

With all the coldness and inhumanity in him, he declared, “I, Alpha Leo Knight, reject you, Selene Grace, as my Luna and my mate. I never want to see your filthy face in my pack ever again.”

All I could feel at that moment was pain.

Leo was my first, and I had always prayed he would be my last.

I had never felt the pain of a mate bond being broken before, but it was brutal. The pain of our bond breaking was so intense that I could feel it shattering me from the inside.

I groaned in agony, hoping Leo would at least look at me, but even my pain wasn’t enough to make him spare me a glance.

I called his name softly as I lay on the floor, overwhelmed with pain and wondering what would happen next.

I could hear his loud footsteps, and he could feel the slow beats of my heart against my chest. Heartlessly, he walked away, leaving me to drown in my misery.

Broken, I shut my eyes and lost consciousness in agony.

Very early the next morning, I woke up feeling less pain from last night’s incident, still unable to believe what had happened. I had no idea why Leo had suddenly changed. As he walked away, I saw a different man in him. The way he spoke to me made me feel like he had buried a deep hatred for me.

I sighed deeply and decided to think positively. We had a child to raise together now, and that was enough reason and encouragement to resolve any misunderstandings between us and find out what I had done wrong. I rose to my feet and reached for my phone on the couch. Leo had blocked my number.

Thinking carefully, I suddenly realized I had no idea where he could be or what he was going through. I worried he might be in the hands of another woman, and that thought shattered me completely. Feeling frustrated, I decided to call my best friend, Zoey. She picked up almost immediately after the first ring, and hearing her voice nearly made me break down in tears.

“I need your help, Zoey.”

Zoey was powerful. Her family was super rich, and as an only child, she grew up having everything a child could ever ask for. We met in high school and were both the smartest kids, although after graduation I couldn’t further my education because I had to carry on my Luna duties to Leo.

“Talk to me, Selene. Do you have any idea where Leo is?”
