“Welcome to my library” He whispered into my ear
“I am so jealous!” I smiled and looked up at him “I would have loved to have this library growing up”
“Well it’s yours now baby” He kissed my cheek
“Really?”
“What’s mine is yours” He told me “And what is Jaxson’s, is all ours”
I giggled and shoved him.
“Did you build a fort?” I asked in amusement “Is that what you were doing while I was drying my hair?”
“I’m a man of many skills”
“Impressive’ I smiled ‘I’ve never been in a fort”
“Never?”
I shook my head, and he looked at me sadly.
“Even Jax and I got to play in forts” Koda told me as he slipped my fingers through mine “And we had round the clock training and lessons and royal duties”
“Well while you were doing all of that, I was cleaning toilets and being beaten” I shrugged “So, not exactly a lot of time to build and play in forts”
“Please don’t speak about your beatings so casually” Koda growled at me “It’s not a joking matter!”
“It happened to me, I should get to decide if it’s a joking ma”
Before I could finish, my mate pulled me in and kissed me hard “Enough” He said once we pulled way “Now, pick a book and let’s get inside”
I smiled and quickly rushed over to the bookshelves, scanning the old volumes eagerly “It’s going to take me years to read all of these”
“You have years” Koda smiled at me “I’ll be back with snacks, I’m starving”
After scanning the vast collection, I found a really amazing old children’s book about the first Lycan’s and carried it into the fort.
Cody had filled the ground with cushions and used one of the sofas as a wall and he’d even placed a small coffee table to one side.
I smiled and sat down, waiting for him, but when I heard him come back, I moved to the doorway to stop him
“Wow, hold it there Alpha” I said and held up my hand “You can’t come in unless you know the password”
“Is that so?” He smiled and placed all the snacks on the ground “Shouldn’t that be the other way around, this is my fort”
“Sorry, no take backs” I smiled “You said, what ever is yours, is mine, so I have claimed this fort as my own, so about this password?”
“How about you let me in without it just this once, and I’ll make it worth your while”
“I think we can come to terms” I declared”As long as you hand over those lollies”
“Deal”
We settled down on the cushions with our backs to the sofa and started eating snacks.
“Okay gorgeous, what book did you choose?”
I held up the children’s book, and he laughed “You’ve never read this?” He took the book.
“No” I shook my head “Alpha Troy never let me have children’s books and I didn’t bother after I grew up”
“Well sit back and relax and I will read to you, my lady”
I giggled and pulled my legs up, grabbed the lolly bowl and started to eat as my mate opened the book and began to read.
STORY – THE FIRST LYCAN’S
Nora was a powerful witch, showing signs at age 3 that she would grow to be one of the most powerful witches of her generation, but her coven was small and no one there could nurture such raw talent, so she was sent away to the Starlight Coven, the most powerful coven of it’s time.
Others came from all over the world to seek their advice and protection. No one dared to challenge them and covens from all over sent their children to advance their training.
That is how Nora came to be in the coven. Among other powers, she had a very rare gift. She could control animals and communicate with wolves and not just any wolves, the dire wolves, very huge, very powerful beasts who hated witches.
Nora was excited to join the new Coven and increase her skills, but upon joining the coven, the King fell in love with Nora, who refused his advances. She hated him and his cruelty. He ruled his coven with an iron fist and even killed those who didn’t meet his standards.
One night during the goddess festival, the King tried to force himself on Nora in the woods and stabbed her when she defended herself.
Nora’s Dire Wolf, who she’d had since it was a pup, attacked the King and saved her, and together they fled the coven.
The King lied to his people and claimed Nora had attacked him with no provocation and sent his best warriors after her. In order to avoid the warriors, Nora knew she couldn’t make it back to her home, and even if she did, they were no match for the King and his Coven, so she had no choice but to venture into the forbidden forest.
Deeper and deeper she ran into the woods, leaving a trail of blood in her wake.
After Nora came upon a stream, she dove in to wash off the blood but when she came out the other side, she came across two dark-haired muscular men and two large black dire wolves, the biggest dire wolves she’d ever seen.
“Who are you!” One of the men shouted angrily, and his wolf began to growl.
“How did you get this far into the woods without being killed by the wolves?!” The other asked as he looked around “Are you alone?”
One of the wolves approached Nora growling, but she held up her hand as her own wolf, Freya, stepped in front of her.
“Stop!” Nora shouted and the black wolf, who was now wagging his tail like a little puppy.
“How did you do that?” The first man asked in confusion, but Nora was too weak to respond.
Her injury and having to run all day had finally caught up with her, and she collapsed on the cold ground as the men looked alarmed and fought among themselves whether to leave her or help her.
Only when their wolves rushed over and whined over her body, did the brothers decide to help. They carried Nora to their hidden cabin, with all three wolves following.
They began to nurse her back to health and hours turned into days and soon days formed into weeks and even after her health returned, she stayed with the men.
Both men were smitten with Nora, who was the first person they’d seen in decades. As it turned out, the men had been cursed with longevity as punishment from the same King who’d attacked Nora. They aged 1 year for every 3 that passed and were both 66 years old.
Nora enjoyed her time with the men and had fallen in love with them both, they were like no one she’d ever known, strong and loyal and powerful.
For a time, they lived together in peace as one happy family, but the King had not given up and a year after escaping his clutches, he managed to track her down and brought his coven.
He wanted Nora back, her powers were his greatest desire and he was not letting that go. He attacked, and both men were injured in the battle.
