Chapter 128 – Falling for the Last Lycan Novel

There was silence that stretched out between them before Dacre replied with the same callous and impassive tone. “Yes.”

There was this urge within Nycta to claw his face, so he would show her a shred of emotion, to let her knew what kind of feeling that he felt right now. It bothered her to see how calm he was.

“You broke the mate bond between us, there is nothing that tied you here.”

“Is that what you wanted?” Nycta could feel her heart broke into million pieces again. The pain from the shattered mate bond still lingered in her heart like a tight silver grip.

She was being impulsive when she said the word that broke their bond, probably because of that her baby couldn’t survive, probably because of that she couldn’t deliver a healthy baby, because she intentionally hurt herself, in order to hurt him out of impulsiveness.

“Yes.” Dacre nodded. “I want you to leave.” And after saying that, he turned around and left the room.

This time, Nycta didn’t cry, she had no more energy, neither she had tears to spare. She was too tired. Exhausted. She wished, she didn’t need to wake up to face the reality.

Meanwhile, as her world shattered, the world out there was not different. The lycan and his people managed to corner the remaining power of Dacre. Victory for the lycan was only a matter of fact.

However, the night before the last battle, one of the guard informed Khaos that Rose and Logan were there to negotiate.

“No,” Zuri said sullenly. They had been fooling around and they were about to do the deed when the guard interrupted them. “No. Tell them to leave.” Zuri kissed his lips harder this time and Khaos chuckled.

“Reign your lust,” Khaos said, nibling on her lip in response. Despite what he said, he didn’t make any effort to leave, neither he heeded the guard’s report.

“They are going to lost, this is their last attempt to save their ass.” Zuri traced her fingers against his neck, her claw elongated slightly, as if threatening to tear his veins. She liked this dangerous play lately.

“I noticed you love to talk about asses lately,” Khaos said, as he slapped her bum and elicited moan from her, but her claws that traced his neck grazed his skin, drawing blood for a second before it healed.

“Careful, I might coincidentally slit your throat,” Zuri said lightly, as she licked the blood from his neck. She could feel how his pulse throbbed against her lips and one single motion, she would be able to rip him apart.

Lycan or not, you were not going to survive this. It was dangerous for Khaos to let her held so much power over him, yet he couldn’t care less about that.

The night before the attack, they threw themselves in the throes of passion, their love making turned into a wild and raw coition. It was frenzy and filled with lust, they let their instinct lose, as they explored each other, finding out more and more excited truth about their mate.

But even so, it was still not enough.

People out there were worried that their alpha wouldn’t have the strength for tomorrow important battle, though they couldn’t hear them clearly, since Gayle shooed them away, at least, fifty meters away from Khaos’s tent, but it would be stupid if they didn’t know what they were doing inside.

And yet, when the night ended and the sky looked less bleak, the alpha emerged from the tent and called for the guard. Only then he was willing to meet with alpha Logan and luna Rose before the last battle.

Meanwhile, Zuri was still sleeping. She wouldn’t wake up until noon and probably by that time, the battle had ended. She didn’t need to worry herself about this, since everything was within Khaos’s grasp.

“Say your piece,” Khaos asked, he agreed for this meeting simply because he wanted to know what Rose had under her sleeves. He was not interested in what Logan said, he was only a puppet leader. He didn’t have alpha’s blood in him and as a beta, he was better at following order.

That was why Dacre chose him as the alpha, because he needed someone that he could control. Another trick that the king learned from the lycan.

“We offered cooperation,” Rose said, while Logan gritted his teeth. From the look of it, he was half heartedly agreed to this meeting, but somehow that woman managed to convince him.

You really couldn’t underestimate the woman’s subtle scheme. They always knew what they needed to say to get what they wanted. They played their role well behind the curtain.

“And why do you think I need that?”

“You will like our offering.”

If Rose spoke, it meant she spoke on behalf of Wolfdale kingdom. Khaos had sent Bryden to let king Amidas learned about his offer and this would be the answer.

Right now, they were standing ten steps away from each other in the middle of the battlefield between Khaos’s troops and the last city of Celeste Kingdom.

“You accepted the offer,” Zuri asked, she stared at Khaos, still sitting on the bed, naked. She was not happy to hear this news, especially when the first thing that he did in the early morning was meeting with another woman.

‘The first thing I did was kissing you, not meeting her.’

Khaos corrected her when Zuri had this yet another ridiculous complain, but she retorted that it didn’t count, since she couldn’t confirm that, as she was asleep.

“Yes, it will be less messy and it will quicken the plan.” Khaos approached his unhappy mate. Zuri had this habit to press her lips tightly into thin line whenever she was annoyed. “This is your plan, remember? She came here to tell us that she and Wolfdale kingdom accepted our deal.”

Indeed. This was Zuri’s plan when she sent Bryden away. She knew that Bryden could be a good negotiator. He was also still holding the beta title, because Zuri managed to convince Khaos not to strip him off his title.

Not so long ago, Khaos had demoted Caiden from his position as gamma and if it happened again with Bryden, Zuri was worried the other pack member would see her as a trouble woman. She didn’t need that.

Zuri learned from Rose that public’s opinion mattered.

“Yes, but king Amidas could have sent someone to reply.”

Khaos chuckled, he sat down next to her and pulled down the blanket that covered her breasts, they were not big, but they were perfect in his palms. “He did send someone. His favorite daughter.”

Pursing her lips, Zuri put her finger under Khaos’s chin, so he could meet her eyes and stop staring at her breasts. “I don’t appreciate it you met with another woman. I am going to slit her throat if she tried to do stupid shit like what she was trying to do to Dacre.”

Of course, Zuri knew about how Rose tried to get in bed with her little sister’s mate. That was so fucked up and she was glad, she didn’t have any sister.

After Khaos marked her, Zuri was a little bit stable. She could think clearly and scheme freely, because the voices had been very quiet whenever she was with Khaos.

However, it didn’t mean she was not getting worse in another aspect. She became extremely territorial and if she could, she would have kept Khaos inside the tent and didn’t let anyone to meet with him. Her jealousy got worse and she couldn’t help it.

The voices would come and the hallucination as well, whenever she stressed out herself.

“You overestimated her,” Khaos said lightly. Her threat meant nothing for him. It was not something that he needed to be worried about.

Khaos wouldn’t have used this slow method if it was not for the fact that he cared for her. Mate or not, or even if it was an attraction between the Shell and the lycan, he yearned for her. This, Khaos was certain.

He could have completed the beauty blood long time ago and gained the ultimate power of the lycan and with that, he could wipe out the kingdom on his own, it would only take him mere days to make it happen and he could get his vengeance.

But he chose not to. He used this conventional method, fighting his way and brought this war to Dacre’s door because he didn’t want to use the beauty blood.

No one could say for certain what was going to happen to Zuri after that and for him, the bet was too high and risky.

This was the bet that he couldn’t take.

More so, occasionally, when her mind was haywire, she tended to ask for him to erase her memories when everything was done. Stuck to their previous deal, where Khaos was no longer gave a fuck.

“I am going to shear her hair and flay her if she tried.” Zuri’s black eyes darkened, as she held back her anger with the thought of it alone.

She stared at Khaos’s lips and then leaned over to peck him. “This is mine.” She then kissed his nose. “This is mine.” She moved down and then kissed her neck. “This is mine…” She continued to claim him.
