Life’s Spiced Up with Some Werewolf Reads

Chapter 14 – Shadowed Bond with Her Alpha

“You were never like this before.” She complains.

“What do you mean Fen?” I ask.

“You never spoke to people unless they needed guidance with their feelings. But only the ones who were truly in turmoil. Now you are talking with people who are just a little nervous? You never did that before.” She states.

“Well, if we need the king to keep us we need to be nice to his friends and his people. We don’t have to be too outgoing but enough to not be perceived as a b*tch. If his people choose to not want us they can go to the King and complain. Therefore the people can help change his mind into getting rid of us.” I explain.

“Ugh. SO that means we have to be nice and ew, talk to people.” She almost gags out.

“Only certain ones. If there are people who are bad people we will just ignore them unless we have to communicate. But the good people, we can at least fake a smile and say hello. I will only truly talk to people you say are okay to talk to. I trust your judgment.” I say, trying to ease her annoyance.

“Fine.” Fen Grumbles and retreats.

When we reach the doors, Beta Markus opens it and I feel a rush of anger and grief hit me. His smell is off, almost making me depressed. The emotions running off of him are almost too much for me to even breathe.

Beta Markus looks at me questioningly when I take a step back. I compose myself and walk through the doors. The sense of anger and despair washing its way over me.

I sit down and see that his chair is turned toward the window. Beta Markus sits down next to me.

“I can’t stand these waves of emotion. It is making me physically sick to feel this.” Fen says and I could agree more. This emotion is so strong that I feel like I am going to throw up. It is like all I can breathe in is hot air.

King Alarick turns around and although his face holds no emotion of grief and anger I can see it in his eyes. They are dead, but at the same time stirring with emotion. It’s probably because He can mask his face so well, the emotions need to show some how.

“LeeAca, it has come to my attention that you have yet to find your mate.”

All I do is nod my head to acknowledge that I have heard him.

“Since this is the case I will give you a chance to find him. Every person deserves to find their mate and I will not be the reason you cannot find yours.” He says flatly.

My heart hurts. I am not sure if it is the mate bond or his emotions are getting to me through being an empath.

“I do not wish to have a mate. Whether I find them or not has no bearing on my decision.”

I say and get up before he could interject. I reach out to shake his hand. “So does that mean that we have a verbal contract between us?” I asked. His mood lightened up a little but not a lot. I still Felt like I was going to be physically ill. He just stared at me questioning and got up and grabbed my hand.

“Yes, we do.” He says as he shakes my hand. I send off some peaceful emotions as I turn around and walk out.

Alarick’s POV

I don’t know what she just did, but I feel lighter somehow. Like all she had to do was say that one sentence and everything is better.

“Why wouldn’t she want to find her mate?” Markus interrupted my thoughts.

“I don’t know and I don’t really care. You heard her say we have a deal.” I say back with a small smile on my face.

“Don’t you think it is strange though? That she doesn’t want a mate?” Markus asks.

“No, some people just don’t want one Markus.” I answer, getting annoyed.

“Every person I know wishes to find their mate. You are the only person I have met that does not wish to find yours, and that is only because you have already had one.” He says

“Stop ruining the plan. You know as well as I do that if she didnt go with it that I would have to try and find another. What woman would sit here and agree to me sleeping with other women and not truly being their mate? No other woman that’s who. Now leave me be. I have to look over pack requests.” I say, now even more irritated.

“Sure thing. You know your sisters will be her any.” Before he could even finish the sentence my door bursts open to reveal Amara and Alena.

Amara is two years younger than me, making her 24 and Alena is 17. Our parents died 3 years ago with the rogue attack leaving me and Amara to take care of Alena. Mother thought it would be cute to have all of our names start with A. Most people say that we all look alike, but the only two things we all share are our tan skin and our dark brown hair. Amara has shoulder length hair, which is new, and dark blue eyes. Alena has longer hair that ends mid back and dark blue eyes. Those two look the same. Both reaching a 5ft 9in .The fact that Amara is older and looks more mature is the only tell that they are not twins.

“Brother!” Alena squeals and comes to hug me.

“Alena.” I say as she practically jumps in my arms.

“How was Italy?” I ask them as Alena squeezes me like she was gone forever.
